Cornwell is an excellent writer and knows her ‘stuff’ first-hand, giving her a writing edge.
Her books are always entertaining n difficult to put down!
I realized a few pages in I had read this book before but it was so good that I read it again. I love these characters.
Great read!!
In spite of all I have said, I say these things regarding this book only because I love the Kay Scarpetta mysteries. In all honesty though, I have to admit this was not one of her best, IMHO! Still, if you are a fan I say, read it!
I have read all her books and enjoyed them.
One of my favorite authors. Always interesting stories.
I love Patricia Cornwell’s writing style and the characters she develops. I look forward to reading her books as soon as they are released!
Patricia Cornwell is my all time favorite author. I love every Scapetta book. Never disappointed!
Always enjoy her books
Great book in keeping the Patricia Cornwell style of writing.
One thing I enjoy about Patricia Cornwell is the realism within the fiction. I’ve always been intrigued with forensics and crime and Cornwell brings you safely into that world. Her female lead, Kay Scarpetta, is a force to be reckoned with while still having a vulnerability that’s appealing at a time when women have to able to kick mens’ butts in order to attract some people’s attention.
Enjoyed the book.
I have a feeling that I’m going to devour this series!!! I LOVE Kay and Marino! These two are such a pair! This particular story was much more gruesome than the last, and that made it that much more interesting! The details in these stories really get you hooked. As disgusting as it was knowing what happened to Beryl and the Harpers in this story, those details are make this story have so much life in it.
This particular story had so many details, layers, twists and turns to it. We were constantly being pulled in different directions. We get the different people from the FBI and other parts of the government, we are introduced to Mark and the people from Berly’s life. They helped make this story different, especially Mark. He is someone who I was constantly perplexed by. I was constantly trying to figure him out, but it also seemed that Kay was doing the same thing.
Kay seemed to have a whole new level of involvement in this case. The last case she was brought in and was put into danger, but this one seemed to be a whole new level. The different professional people in Kay’s life seemed to be like her fairy god parents in this story. Everyone was looking out for her in some capacity. It was really endearing! I really liked where the story took us in this book, and I was constantly on the edge of my seat. Even more so than in Post-Mortem. There was so much more of a story to tell here and it had so many different layers
Excellent read!
I was such a gruesome kid… in that I loved to read this series. Blood never bothered me, and the more psychopaths you throw at me, the happier of a reader I am. I think I learned some anatomy from this book. 🙂
The descriptions are vivid, not for the faint-hearted. Hits close to him when it’s about a writer being murdered. Almost decapitated.
The MC, Scarpetta, is a challenging character. She’s so honest and raw, you have to respect and love her. But she’s also got this side of her where I’d be a little scared to be her friend.
Very complex mystery. Lots of clues. Very intense read.
Excellent read!
This second novel of Patricia Cornwell I read after Postmortem. I had to keep reading it and not put it down, really like Dr Kay Scarppeta will her flaws a great read anytime, I am now on to third All That Remains and still the Wow factor. I found Patricia Cornwell writing a great read for a hot summer on the porch.
Patricia Cornwell is a master of this genre. I could not put this book down.
Love all of her books
