Falling for a man who thinks romance is pointless is the stupidest thing I’ve done this year! Everything happens for a reason. The universe wouldn’t bring a smart, sexy NHL player like Will Green into my life if we weren’t supposed to connect. Romance is more than just flowers and candy. I’ll prove it to him.Except, Will doesn’t do relationships.Married to his NHL career, he told me that romance … relationships.
Married to his NHL career, he told me that romance is a ‘waste of time’!
That should be the end of it.
But destiny keeps bringing us together.
Even our dogs have formed a bond.
It has to mean something, and I will put my heart on the line to figure out what.
A 66k standalone hockey romance with a guaranteed happily ever after!

This is the 2nd book in the Salt Lake Pumas series. Will injured his shoulder while playing hockey and he had to sit out last part of the season, playoffs and the start of the new season. He hated watching everyone skate out to play but at least he was still included in team meetings and getting together with the guys. Lacey is working on a big ad project for her work and she has to meet with the PR guy, and her boss but it’s at the Pumas hockey game and Lacey knows about hockey. Lacey and Will keep running into each other and there attraction between one another continues to grow. Can the girl who knows nothing about hockey claim the heart of the man who doesn’t do relationships. Great read and can’t wait for the next book in this series to come out.
While recuperating from a shoulder injury, Will, a professional hockey player for the Salt Lake Pumas, is going a bit stir crazy. Since he never had a pet as a kid and he has the time, he decides to adopt a puppy, Teddy. To socialize Teddy with other dogs, Will takes him to the neighborhood dog park. There, Teddy makes friends with Lacey’s dog, Vega. Will and Lacey, a graphic designer and proud owner of Vega, the dog she inherited when her ex-boyfriend moved away, meet and become friendly. They keep running into each other and over time become friends. Their attraction grows and Lacey, a hopeless romantic, feels like it’s fate while Will is someone that doesn’t believe in love and romance. They each have their own baggage to overcome and it was quite the experience following them on their journey. Will they ever get together?
“Body Checked” by Camellia Tate is one of those rare 2nd books in a series. It is even better than the 1st book and that is saying a lot. I loved the characters and especially how they interacted with each other and their dogs.
An attention-grabbing book two in the Salt Lake Pumas series! The story line is well thought out, emotionally deep, funny, and consistent. Likeable characters you will love and root for; the chemistry between them is amazing! This book will pull you in and is guaranteed to leave you wanting more. Definitely recommended!

Will being on the injured list has some free time and has always wanted a dog. He finally adopts one and while in the park his dog gets loose and runs to Vega, a husky. Lacey is Vega’s owner and Will finds her beautiful, however, he doesn’t do relationships. Lacey is a romantic Will is not. They keep bumping into each other and become friends. Will Will get past not doing relationships and take a chance on Lacey? Will Lacey give up on Will? This was a good story however I thought that Lacey tried way to hard to be in Will’s life.
I received this an an ARC and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Even though I’ve never watched a hockey game, I always enjoy hockey romance novels.
Ms. Tate is a new author to me and I enjoyed her writing. I liked how you got to know the characters as they were getting to know each other. She really developed their relationship as friends first then developed it into more even if that’s not what the character’s “thought” they wanted in the first place.
Looking forward to more of Ms. Tate’s books.
Will is an NHL player that is recovering from a shoulder injury. When he decides to get a dog, something he wanted as a child and could never had, he meets Lacey at the dog park. Lacey is also a new dog owner, she ended up with her ex’s dog when they broke up and he moved out of state. Will doesn’t do romance and Lacey is all about it. When they meet for the third time by chance, Lacey is sure it’s fate! Can Lacey show Will what love and a relationship is all about? This is my first book by Ms. Tate and I was excited to read it, as I enjoy hockey romance stories! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.
I really enjoyed reading Body Checked a romantic novel by Camellia Tate and it is the second book in the Salt Lake Pumas series. The story is about a hockey player for the NHL team – the Salt Lake Pumas, named Will. Will is not allowed to play hockey yet this pre-season because he was injured at the end of the last season, and he hasn’t been cleared to play yet by the team’s physician. Will has time to kill and decides to adopt a puppy who he names “Teddy”. Will decides to take Teddy to the park to get some exercise where he meets a very attractive young woman named Lacey, who is there with her dog, Vega. Teddy had gotten away from Will at the park and ran straight to Vega.
Lacey is a graphic designer who has lived in Salt Lake for a few years, and Vega has been her “fur baby” for about 3 years. Her ex-boyfriend, who adopted Vega as a puppy, gave her to Lacey when he moved to Boston for his job. When Lacey meets Will she has no idea the he is an NHL hockey player because she isn’t a hockey fan. Lacey is a lover of romance, and Will doesn’t understand the point of it. Will and Lacey keep bumping into one another around the city, but even though Will is attracted to Lacey, and he is fairly sure that she is attracted to him, Will doesn’t do relationships. He believes that if he had asked her for her phone number Lacey would have thought that he was leading her on, and he doesn’t want to hurt her feelings.
I don’t want to say anymore in this review about what happens next because I don’t want to spoil the story for any future readers. Just trust me that this is an interesting story with wonderful characters that you will really enjoy if you love reading romance novels!
Lovely hockey romance about Will and Lacey – book 2 in the Salt Lake Pumas series! Entertaining with great characters and a lot of chemistry! Enjoy!

This is the 2nd book in the Salt Lake Pumas series. Will got a shoulder injury and was out the last part of the season, playoffs and the start of the new season. He hated watching everyone skate out to play but at least he was still included in team meetings and getting together with the guys. While out at dinner with the some of the guys he talks to Felix who mentions he has 4 dogs and Will admits he always wanted one but family dynamics didn’t allow it. Felix tells him to check the local animal shelter, he does and comes home with a cute little puppy he names Teddy. He takes him to the park where he meets Lacey and her dog Vega. And this is where the story starts.
Lacey is working on a big ad project at work for a brewery and has to meet with the PR guy, and her boss but it’s at the Pumas hockey game. She knows nothing about hockey and she figures she can BS her way thru even tho she throws out volleyball terms and not hockey. lol She runs into Will again and is surprised he’s there and is a hockey player. It seems they just can’t stop running into each other.
Lacey ends up helping Will put up doggie gates when he learns his puppy is gonna be huge when he grows up and doesn’t know how to do it. He helps her out by taking her dog for a run in the mornings.
The story line pretty much keeps going back and forth like this. Will doesn’t know how to do anything it seems like and Lacey does.
He learns that she is a romantic and believes in romance and he doesn’t. He doesn’t do relationships so they are friends. Can she change his mind?
It was nice to see some of the players from book 1 mentioned. Luke (book 1) has a girlfriend but it makes it like he’s single till the end of the book where she is then mentioned which should have been all along.
To me, Will seems whiny and can’t do anything and really doesn’t come off as a hockey player. Not a lot of hockey is mentioned just bits and pieces. He’s nice and wants to help Lacey but…..
If you like sweet nice guys then this book is for you. But if you’re looking for heat, a kick butt hockey player maybe not.
Another great read in this series. The characters are wonderful and the story lines are really good. Another happily ever after.
