Men ruin women.
Especially men like Chase Davis. Good looking, intelligent, rich and powerful. I never stood a chance.
I didn’t want to want him.
I didn’t want to need him.
I didn’t want to fall for him.
He wouldn’t take no for an answer, and I let him consume me. Arrogant, confident, controlling, demanding … intense.
When he entered my life, I was finally healing after having barely … life, I was finally healing after having barely survived the men of my past. My soul sisters told me to take a chance. To let someone in. I let him in, and he surrounded me with a light so bright I was blinded by the truth…
Men don’t ruin women. They devour them in every way that counts.

Just yuck. There were so many things I hated about this book. Here’s a woman who had been abused in her past hooking up with a man who has to control everyone around him. Sounds like a good setup, but it comes off making the girl look amazingly stupid. And the melodrama. Wow. It’s ramped up to 11. I’m surprised she’s not having his baby yet. No thanks. This is the first in a series and I won’t be reading any further.
Needs better editor to fix plot that doesn’t flow well, and to please do something about a ton of malapropisms. Author writes in a lot of sex scenes, but they’re not romantic and they’re not terribly sexy, either. I stuck with the book, pretty much til the end, but skipped over several sections because they weren’t too interesting.
This one was just ok for me. I wasn’t as interested in the characters as I’d hoped I’d be. The story is interesting, but I often got annoyed with Gillian’s childish reactions to things that upset her that had to do with Chase. I could totally understand why Chase’s bodyguard did not like her very much. What I do like is Gillian’s close relationship with her friends. They are a solid unit and are always there for each other. I do want to read the next book and see where this series goes because I have my suspicions about who the anonymous stalker is.
Characters so flawed it was difficult to relate and I just wanted to pull my hair out at how lame they behaved.
Couldn’t stand the cliche and over the top description of instant attraction. I don’t mind the insta-love, insta-attraction that is so pervasive in book nowadays and when it’s done well it can be hot and believable. In this case I was just snorting at the lines thrown by the guy and rolling my eyes at the inner monologue of the woman.
Childish.
It was a pretty good book. Not a favorite, but I will read the next in the series.
I didn’t purchase the rest of the series
While the book did end with the main characters together, don’t like when the story isn’t finished in one book.
I loved it. Ready to read the rest of the trilogy.
