Who invited Death to the wedding? When an ancient beam falls on one of the guests at Charlie and Alice’s wedding, it looks like the work of the death watch beetle, an insect that eats old timbers. But fledgling witch Lucy and the vampire knitting club aren’t so sure. Could there be a murderer casting blame on the wood-chomping insects?Meanwhile, the old broom that’s always stood in the corner of … that’s always stood in the corner of Cardinal Woolsey’s knitting and yarn shop seems to have a mind of its own, and Lucy’s cat is ready to hop aboard and take the broom for a spin. With or without Lucy.
Between learning a new knitting stitch and keeping her broom and cat earthbound, Lucy hasn’t got time to solve a murder—until it turns out the next victim is someone she loves.
Join Lucy and her eccentric band of amateur sleuths in Oxford as they attempt to unravel a twisted skein of clues and catch a killer without dropping a stitch.
This is book 8 in the Vampire Knitting Club series of paranormal cozy mysteries, but each book can be read as a standalone novel. There’s no violence, gore, swearing or sex, just a lot of fun. One reviewer says, “I’m a total addict to this series.”

Another superb instalment in this supernatural sleuths series from Nancy Warren. Absolutely love that each book reveals a little more about various characters and that there is an overarching narrative thread that weaves through each story which is more or less stand-alone. One of those books that must be read in one sitting, because it’s just that addictive!!
Hello Lovely Nyx!!!! Look at you on the cover!!!
Alice and Charlie finally get to tie the knot. Something happens at the wedding that Lucy and Rafe had different ideas about.
Lucy needs to work on learning her witch abilities real fast because something dark is coming. She has to start at the beginning with learning to fly a broom. Fun!!! She needs to start learning to listen to her instincts too.
My heart goes out to Alice and Charlie. Your attitude, and Lucy is right, will get you off on the right start.
Just wonderful series. Hard to believe this is book 8 in this series. This book can be read in a day. Fun, easy to read, and thoroughly enjoyable. Looking forward to more.
You might be able to read this book as a stand alone but will definitely need to go back and play catch up for the character development.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book. Thank you.
Lucy and the vampire knitting club is at it again. The vampires help with the wedding of Alice and Charlie as driver’s but help Lucy figure out who killed a family friend at the wedding or was it an accident? Enjoyable as always. Can’t wait to start the next book and see what everyone gets up too.
Bobbles and Broomsticks is the latest Vampire Knitting Club book. I do recommend that these books are read in order as they each follow on from the last. Having said that, each book is an individual cosy mystery so could be read as a stand-alone.
This book has a wedding, a death, a mystery, witches, an old broomstick, a flying cat and of course knitting and vampires. Everything you could possibly need, and not just for Halloween.
I absolutely adore this series and thoroughly recommend this book to everyone.

Lucy Swift is an American transplant in Oxford, running the wool shop she inherited from her dead grandma. And by dead I mean vampire. Lucy spends her days running the shop and solving the occasional murder. At night she hangs out with her vampire friends while they knit at tremendous speeds or learning to control the witchcraft she also inherited from her grandma. Hanging out with her vampire friends is much more fun. When her friends Alice and Charlie (Charlie owns the bookstore across the street and Alice is his assistant) get married she’s prepared to enjoy her friends’ lovely day. Until there’s a murder right in the church. What the hecka?!
Now, in between running her shop and taking broom flying lessons, Lucy and her amateur sleuthing vampire friends need to find out who the murderer is before someone else dies. It’s just another uneventful day in Oxford.
I love this series so much. Each book is easy to read and even with the sadness of a murder (or two) it’s a light and often humorous way to pass a few hours. There’s mystery, humor, paranormal elements, great characters, and even some romance sprinkled in. This is book 8 and I’m not even close to being tired of the Oxford shenanigans. Bring on book 9!
Bobbles and Broomsticks by Nancy Warren
Vampire Knitting Club Series Book Eight
Lucy Swift is part of a wedding party. Charlie, from Frogg’s Books across the way, and Alice are getting married and she’s a bridesmaid. She’s so excited for this couple. After all, Lucy and her cousin Violet had used some of the craft to help the couple out. Sure, it might have gone a bit sideways there for a bit…but in the end, Charlie finally noticed Alice.
Of course, this is Lucy and trouble seems to find her. And it finds her in a big way. Charlie and Alice’s wedding with definitely be memorable. I love this series and the characters. Humor, a touch of romance, and sleuthing that usually ends with a surprise villain.

This cozy paranormal series just keeps getting more interesting and fun with each book!! Nix giving Lucy attitude in this book made me laugh. If you enjoy knitting, witches, vampires and quirky little towns, you will enjoy this book.
I can’t wait to see what comes next!
Stories,” I said. “So many stories.” “And so often history does repeat itself.” He sighed. “Believe me. I’ve seen it.”
In this, the eighth book of Nancy Warren’s Vampire Knitting Club, Lucy gets to be a witch as well as a bit of a detective. She’s beginning to trust her instincts a little more despite attempts by the coven leadership to distract her. Now, if she’d only stop worrying about her love life and enjoy Charlie and Alice’s wedding….
When the church literally falls down, and the rubble begins to clear, Lucy is left with more questions than answers. Why did it happen just when it did? Was the father of one of Charlie’s groomsmen the intended target? Or, was someone else in the killer’s sight? We’re they privy to the truth or another story? Can Lucy and Nyx save another from untimely death?
Lucy may not interact with the vamps much this time, but her trust in herself and her powers gets tested. Can she trust herself? No doubt that Nancy Warren has given us another strong chapter in the paranormal life of Oxford England. Highly recommended 5/5
[disclaimer: I received this book from the author and voluntarily reviewed it]
I just can’t get enough of this series!
Margaret has decided it’s high time Lucy learns to fly her broomstick and Nyx is just fine with that. Alice and Charlie are getting married but the wedding ends in disaster. Was it murder or death watch beetles? And who was the intended victim? We find out more about Rafe’s past in this one but not much interaction with the Knitting Club which I missed. Kept me guessing until the very end. Another great addition to this series!
I received an ARC. This is my honest review.
Bobbles and Broomsticks (Vampire Knitting Club #8) by Nancy Warren has nefarious deeds going n at the wedding rehearsal of Charlie and Alice. It is a wonderful addition to the series adding insight into Lucy and her training. Cardinal Woolsey’s Knitting and Yarn Shop has its own shenanigans taking place beside the murder investigation, or was it just an insect infestation?
I can’t say enough about how much I enjoy this series with its quirkiest vampires around. Lucy may seem to simply be carried along by the events in the books but she is growing into a force to be reckon with, especially with her support team. Meanwhile this group of people, living and the undead, are beginning to feel more like family then book characters.
The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the first book in the series I’ve read but I didn’t have any trouble following along. I enjoyed it so much I started the first book right after I finished this one. I like Lucy, she’s young but has her head on straight. When tragedy strikes at a wedding, she doesn’t hesitate to walk the fine line between joy and sorrow to figure out who’s responsible. Her human and vampire friends are interesting and the dialog is natural. The story kept my interest until the end, with some twisty bits and a surprise ending.
I read an advanced copy of this book and am leaving my honest review.
Lucy is a witch and owner of a knitting store. She’s not very knowledgeable about either one. Her friend Alice is getting married to Charlie. As the women get ready for the hens’ party, a stranger joins the group. She’s sister to one of Charlie’s groomsmen and in love with Charlie. At the wedding, a beam in the church falls and someone is killed. Was this an accident, caused by the death watch beetles, or murder?
This was the first book I’ve read in this series. I loved the characters and want to know more about them. The story line is solid and the murderer was a surprise. I can’t wait to read more!
I must admit that I love this series and thoroughly enjoyed this book – although I would have liked a bit more of the vampire knitting club regulars, especially Gran. However, the terrific plot was chock full of both old and new characters with lots of intriguing scenes.
It was my pleasure to receive this ARC and give my honest review.
Lol, who would invite death to their wedding, certainly not this sweet couple. Never fear, Lucy is very near and dear to this couple so a-sleuthing she gladly goes to solve this mystery. Lucy is the type of character that leaps off the pages with acceptance, determination and grips you to tag along. I always look forward to reading what she has been up to and how she is growing in her knowledge of who she is and how she feels. I really thought I had this one figured out right along with her but got a curve-ball at the end 🙂 Regardless, I just enjoying reading this series because they are fun to read, interesting, a little intense and challenges my brain to figure out the mystery. Another great addition to the series, can’t wait to see what Lucy gets up to next, this one had we up til the wee hours. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author.
