A wonderful story in rhyme, with beautiful illustrations.
First, everybody is afraid of Bo. That makes him feel sad. Then he has this genius idea ‘If I tell them all my abilities, I think they will get to know me. And once they know me better, they’ll love me’. And yes, this happened.
Beside this amazing lesson, kids get to know more about bats on an extra page with 6 fun facts about bats. The printed book has even an Ultimate extra for toddlers, the book has 4 coloring pages. What can you want more as a kid?
I highly recommend for toddlers and kindergarten kids.

I enjoyed Bo the Bat. He’s very cute with his top hat, but that’s not all. Bo would like to go Trick- or- Treating with children, but they are all afraid of him so Bo makes a plan. He explains that bats do good things, like get rid of lots of bugs at once.Readers will learn fun facts like bats are not really blind, but they have trouble seeing things at night so they send out beeping sounds to help them find their way around. Children will also learn what wings do for bats. There are more fun facts at the end of the story. Children are sure to enjoy this story. I highly recommend it.
Review by children’s author Deanie Humphrys-Dunne
“Bo the Bat” is a cute little bat who tries to go out and have some fun on Halloween. The problem is that kids are scared of him, so he can’t have much fun and can’t go trick or treating with the kids.
Bo comes up with a plan to talk to the kids to tell them how great bats really are and the benefits of bats, which is educational for children reading the book.
The story is written in rhyme and would make a cute read aloud for parents or teachers to read to young kids. The pictures are cute, bright, and colorful. The story is quite short, so it would be great for kids who have short attention spans.
There are facts about bats at the end of the book with the fact that kids should not touch wild animals.
I would recommend this book to kids around ages 3-6. While the focus is on Halloween, the book could be enjoyed other times of the year for some education about bats.
Bo the bat is a dapper little guy who wears a top hat, rides a bike, and loves talking to children — but they’re afraid of him, which saddens the sweet little flyer. He devises a plan to make kids like him — he swoops in to tell them all the fabulous facts about bats. He explains how they bounce sound off objects to “see,” as well as bats’ important role in spreading seeds and pollen so fruits and vegetables can flourish. Bo reminds the children that he and his fellows eat insects like mosquitos — spreaders of malaria, West Nile, and Zika — which ranks them amongst the best citizens of nature, and all they ask in return is a bit of friendship. The kids are happy to oblige as Bo escorts them through the night from house to house.
The last page of the book has a list of “Fun Bat Facts,” including that less than half of one percent of bats have rabies, probably the greatest misunderstanding about the winged mammals.
Lush illustrations by Zuzana Svobodova are the perfect accompaniment to Alma Hammond’s story aimed at children between the ages of two and seven.
this is a wonderful and beautiful book i reccomend this to all ages from 99 to 100 even though its written for kids im exactly 99 and 1/2 and i loved this book. i will very much read this again and LOVE IT ALL!

My 5 year old nephew loved it.
Fun for the kids
Granddaughter was all smiles as read this to her
This was a fantastic book to read and re-read to my 3 year old. She enjoyed it so much.
I loved the illustrations.
My students loved this story and since I teach Art we just had to draw a picture of Bo the bat in his top hat.
Super cute way of delivering the message that bats are important. Changed the way my niece looks at bats.
No wears a top hat and he is great but children are scared of him. He loves to chat and he wants to go trick-or-treating. He wants to show them bats are great and they don’t have to be scared of him. Do they believe him? Does he get to go trick-or -treating with them.
This book is meant for 3-8 year olds. I think all ages should see the wonderful illustrations that are over the top beautiful. The rhyming story is gpod for listening to and for picking out site words. (Site words are words they kust have to learn like the.) Happy Reading/Listen
Great children’s books
My granddaughter loves this book. It is cute and educational.
I really liked this book about Bo the Bat. The illustrations were cute and the story of Bo making friends on Halloween was in rhyme and gave several facts about the beneficial role of bats.
A nicely illustrated book with a cute moral message.
