Obsession is the deadliest vice.Carrera.A word whispered in fear and respect. A name to avoid at all costs. Abducted. Held against my will. A prisoner of a war I know nothing about.
But my kidnapping is more than a case of mistaken identity, and my captor is more than a stranger.
He’s the heir to the devil.
A ruthless cartel prince who takes everything and promises nothing. I should hate him, but the deeper Valentin Carrera drags me into his corrupt world, the harder it becomes to resist either one.
He’s determined to take more than my freedom.
He wants to own my soul.
I’m at his mercy. A plea that means nothing to a man whose hands are stained with blood.
Until that stain?
That blood?
It becomes mine.
And I’m no longer a prisoner of war.
I am the war.

Of course, going into this book I knew the language and some of the events were going brutal. And there was that in the story but it didn’t stop there either.
Both of the main characters were awesomely interesting and their personalities were not drawn in a shallow way, they had depth. Eden was one tough cookie in some ways and she would be the first to say that she was no angel. But wow, she sure was going to have to draw on that toughness for what she had to go through. Don’t get me wrong, she also had some really good qualities too. She was loyal to those that she loved and she doesn’t budge an inch when it comes to being a part of protecting them the best that she can.
Valentin (Val) had lived an incredibly violent life beginning when the violence erupted in his six year old life. Prior to that he had a loving mother, a baby sister and a sometimes fear inducing father (when he was around). It didn’t take to long after that for Val to be drawn into the brutality of his father’s lifestyle. He thought all kindness, any tenderness or heart had been pretty much beaten out of him. But then he met Eden. I liked the way he put it that Cherry/Eden stormed into his life. That was a really good way to put it. I really got a kick out of how Eden came up with the name “Danger” before she knew his name was Val. And even after she did know his real name she often called him Danger. Things also began to get worse when it came to the war with Manuel Munoz’s gang. The war was heating up with more losses including people in the Carrera Cartel.
Tension, danger, surprises remain high throughout the book. Talk about reading a book at the edge of my seat. There was also a surprise twist that I had wondered about for awhile.
An Epilogue is included and I enjoyed that as well.
Heck, I even smiled when I read the unusual Acknowledgements that the author wrote. I didn’t just smile. It made me grin. I definitely like her style! I will be keeping an eye out for more books by this author.
One of the best Cartel stories I have read in a long while. I have always been fascinated by the idea of the mafia, and I would love to be a part of this Cartel. The characters are not candy coated as being bad, and then meeting their true love and somehow becoming upstanding citizens. Valentine is not way no how going to change his wicked ways for his true love Eden. Eden wouldn’t have it any other way. I was pulled in to their story, and was so into the story I didn’t realize that it was one of the longer ones I have read lately. I loved it. It had it all , violence, suspense, anger, lies, betrayal, sex, loyalty, and love. If you haven’t put this series on your to be read list; then you are truly missing out. I would recommend this book to any one of my fellow readers.
This is my second book from this Author. I first read Shallow and absolutely loved it. I’ve had this book since reading that and I’ll admit I forgot I had it until I saw book 2 was released and it caught my eye. I’m kicking myself for not reading it sooner.
I’m a huge fan of a good Cartel story. This one kept me intrigued from the start even though I found it a bit slow to get going.
When it did I found myself sucked into an all familiar world of violence and danger. I couldn’t stop reading the characters all kept me wanting to know more.
This book weaves a web of secrets and lies, you just don’t know who to trust.
There’s just something about these guys that draws me in. They aren’t good men but damn they make me weak at the knees. I think it’s a power thing. Lol.
I really liked Valentin in this book, but I will say Mateo kinda of stuck out for me and I’m so pleased his book is next. I’m diving straight into his story now.
A great start to the series, I’m already hooked and eager for more.
Valentin “Val” Carrera is head of the Houston branch of the Carrera Cartel, and in line to inherit the head seat in Mexico when his father dies. He rules with a tight fist and keeps people outside his cartel at a distance. When a rival cartel targets him, his men, and everything the own, he must step up and do his best to stop them before they destroy him. Along the way he is forced to kidnap a woman named Eden “Cherry” Lachey.
Val has had his eyes on Eden for six months but doesn’t want to involve her in his life. However he is forced to when the rival cartel kills her brother and she is a witness to it, he knows she will be next if he doesn’t do something about it.
This book was a wild, crazy, emotional, and awesome read. I loved reading it and cannot wait for the release of the next Carrera Cartel novel. It was my first book by Cora Kenborn and definitely won’t be my last. I would absolutely recommend Blurred Red Lines to my friends.
I discovered a new author this year that I can’t wait to read again. Cora Kenborn has started a new Mafia Series. The first book is gritty;not for the faint of heart.
Eden hasn’t had the best of life and finally decided to take control of her destiny. Not always making the right decision.
Val is second to his father in the Carrera Cartel. He doesn’t know quite what to do with this woman who does cower to him. He actually acts realistic. Not always sure of himself, just as confused as the female lead.
If you want a romance with a plot and believable characters check out Blurred Red Lines.
OMG! That was A-MAZ-ING! I totally have a girl crush on Eden. Can’t forget about Val either. My god I floved this book. Cora you beautiful crazy lady, you are awesome. I got sucked into this book & couldn’t put it down till I finished. Get ready for a wild, crazy, suspenseful story. Blurred Red Lines is a MUST read. I hope there will be more.
Wow! What a spectacular ride and action packed journey! I couldn’t get enough of Blurred Red Lines!
To be honest I didn’t know what to expect when I begin reading because I haven’t read many mafia books before this. I definitely was pleasantly surprised by how much I love this story. Cora did an amazing job with characters and the storyline flowed really well. I was hooked from the beginning until the very end! Blurred Red Lines has a little bit of everything. It’s dark, full of action, has revenge, death, lots of romance and suspense that will keep you guessing and begging for more. Val and Eden have such a wonderful chemistry you can’t help to fall in love with them. Val is the handsome heir of the Carrera Cartel and he doesn’t blink an eye to take out anyone who gets in his way until he meets Eden. Eden is a feisty beautiful young woman who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. She sets out to get revenge and when Val and Eden’s worlds collide it’s extremely explosive. This is a highly recommended read that you won’t want to miss! I can’t wait to see what Cora has planned for book 2.
Suspense, darkness, light. And hot romance! Cora Kenborn pulls you right in to the world of the drug cartels. I didn’t want to leave! Love, loved, loved this book!
This was my first Cora Kenborn book and it was fantastic! From the first page I was hooked! Val & Eden are such wonderful characters who love each other with a passion. At times my heart stopped, I laughed, I cried, but couldn’t put it down. This is a must read! You will not be disappointed! Now on to read more of her books!
I could not put this book down!! I absolutely loved it. Eden is the kinda gal who is down to earth and you just love right from the get go. Val is dark mysterious and you know you should probably hate him because he’s a bad guy but you can’t help but fall in love with. This story is amazing and a must read, especially if you are a fan of Cora Kenborn. She has given you two characters that you will love, it is action packed, hot, steamy and even tugs at your heart strings with everything that is going on.
WOW!!! This is the first book by Cora Kenborn that I’ve read. It definitely won’t be my last. Blurred Red Lines was amazing. Full of danger, tragedy and heartache as well as passion and romance. Cora keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire book. I absolutely loved it and I’m looking forward to reading more of Cora’s work.
This book had me on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the very end. It is about a feisty red-headed bartender and a cartel boss.
It is filled with everything a perfect dark mafia romance needs… betrayal, angst, danger, and of course sexiness. I did not want this book to end.
Do yourself a favor and get this book, you will not be disappointed.
Flove Eden and Val’s story.. Intense and steamy, witty and packed with the build up of the plot, author keeps you on edge you HAVE to keep reading until the end. Blurred Redlines left me #bookdrunkcantwaitforfadedgray
As I start all my review there are things that every good book must have. It must make you laugh, cry, hold on tight and want to throw it across the room. Cora Kenborn blew all these out of the water. I was unsure about this book before I started it as I really was not into cartel/ crime books, but I thought I would give it a chance as I had fallen hard for Fame and Obsession. Well before I even finished the first chapter I could not put this book down. Cora had once again had drawn me in and hooked me big time. Her writing style makes her characters feel as if you standing there watching as if you are in the room with them. Val is going to be every ladies dream man. I was in love with him from the start. Who doesn’t love an alpha who has it all! Then we have Eden a lady trying to hold the family together, who meets Val at the bar where she works. Just when you think you have it figured out Cora tosses in a plot twist and your hands will grip the book tighter as you continue on with Val and Eden’s journey. Now since I hate spoilers all I am going to say is that a tragic event thrusts Val and Eden together but do they have what it takes to make it out in one piece or will life interrupt their HEA? Get your copy today and find out. I read this book from start to finish during the night as I could not put it down. I can see this book becoming a movie that is how awesome it is. This is marked by me as an awesomely epic MUST READ book. Blurred Red Lines by Cora Kenborn for me is the best 5 star read out there.
Blurred Red Lines…what can I say…I f-in loved it! I knew it was going to be a hit when my husband, who never reads books read BRL. This is the first book in the Carrera Cartel Series and I’m so excited that there will be more great books coming. Get ready for a wild ride full of action, danger, suspense, violence and a hot sexy romance. I absolutely loved Eden Lachey, she’s a tough feisty heroine with heart and Valentin Carrera is the sexy alpha bad boy that Eden feels will break her heart. Val is the perfect combination of scary dangerous and a loving protective hero. The chemistry between these two was scorching HOT!! BRL is a well written, keep you on the edge of your seat book. I was sucked in from the first page till the last and I loved every second of it. Cora Kenborn really knows how to combine suspense and romance and come out with one of the best books out this year! I definitely recommend everyone one-click all of Cora’s books you won’t regret it.
New type of book for me never interested in crime drama befor. I found it sexy and a bit scary but all worked out in the end.
Favorite Read of 2017
Valentin Carrera. He’s sexy as sin and just as dangerous. Due to become the leader of the Mexican Cartel.
Eden Lachey. Cereza. A beautiful, feisty, red headed barmaid, works at Caliente Cantina.
Val and Eden. He knew she was his, even though he wasn’t so sure he could afford the distraction of her. She was intrigued by him, little did she know he’d become a much bigger part of her life than she had ever anticipated. When everyone betrays you, who can you trust? ! Eden would soon find out. Val would learn that there is some light in his darkness. This book is full of suspense. It’s dark and gritty, you may think that you’ve got it all figured out, but you don’t… The ending is so unexpected and a brilliant twist. I can’t wait to read the rest in this series.
Cora Kenborn’s writing is amazing. Her characters were fully developed, detailed and realistic. This my favorite book of Cora’s and my favorite book of 2017.
Cora Kenborn – Blurred Red Lines
A mesmeric read which had me on a rollacoaster of emotions. Valentin, head of the Carrera drug cartel and Eden, an unwitting witness but a wonderful character with spirit and fire. Their paths meet and entwine on an explosive journey of murder, passion, fireworks, suspense, grit and determination.
Cora Kenborn has taken me on my first read into Cartel novels with Blurred Red Lines. I was far from disappointed. From the Title right through to the very end I was hooked. I didn’t want to put this down, I wanted to take it everywhere with me but at the same time I was painfully trying my hardest to prolong this unsurpassable novel.
I cannot wait for the next instalment of this explosive Series. I am awarding this book 5* for my love of this wholly addictive storyline and characters. I have truly, TRULY loved and immensely enjoyed every minute of BLURRED RED LINES.
I finally got to this book. It’s been on the TBR for a long time. Also my first time reading Cora. I was not disappointed at all.
Eden is a girl that likes everything on her terms and I mean everything! She unknowingly ends up catching the eye of El Muerte, a cartel boss. Shortly after, her entire world is turned upside down.
Valentin, El Muerte, the boss man who doesn’t let anything or anyone get to close to him. That’s until a little cherry, cereza, shows her “don’t take crap” attitude and makes his drink perfecto.
I enjoyed the plot, the push and pull between Eden and Val, and the twist we learn at the end of the book. I would have like to see a real Alpha, J/P showdown between Val and Brody though. I just feel a cartel boss would have been a bit more hardcore in that situation.
But with that said, I definitely will continue the series, I need that twist resolved!
The narrators, Brian Pallino, Sarah Puckett and Alan Carlson all did a phenomenal job, especially with accents and speaking Spanish.
Audio ARC provided and I decided to leave an honest review.
This book is edgy and very dark, it is still sexy and all the feels a good dark romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
