Abducted. Held against my will. A prisoner of a war I know nothing about.
But my kidnapping is more than a case of mistaken identity, and my captor is more than a stranger.
He’s the heir to the devil.
A ruthless cartel prince who takes everything and promises nothing. I should hate him, but the deeper Valentin Carrera drags me into his corrupt world, the harder it becomes to resist either one.
He’s determined to take more than my freedom.
He wants to own my soul.
I’m at his mercy. A plea that means nothing to a man whose hands are stained with blood.
Until that stain?
That blood?
It becomes mine.
And I’m no longer a prisoner of war.
I am the war.

Mafia is a one click for me! Absolutely love it…Blurred Red Lines is mafia on steroids. Bonus it’s in the south so that’s cool:) BRL totally gave me Queen of the South/Narcos vibes & I FLOVE those shows.
I listened to the audiobook which was fantastic. Each of the narrators were awesome:)
Fave quotes:
‘Val Carrera taught me that life didn’t necessarily run in clear shades of black and white. Gray areas clouded a side of people they had no idea existed—a side capable of unspeakable acts when thrust into darkness. In those gray areas, love and passion ran volatile in two people whose paths were never meant to cross.’
“Ah, but this is the hallmark of how we operate, Cereza. We fight hard and fuck harder. Isn’t that the key to a lasting relationship?” “We’re some seriously fucked up individuals.”
Val and Eden… They are one hell of a duo, beautifully flawed in every way. Good and bad.
Val is a is an heir to the throne, eventually. OTT, possessive, obsessive, sexy, broody, and savage AF.
Eden the barmaid, but don’t let that fool you. She will kick some ass and take names. She definitely don’t take shit from Val. I love her sassy and feisty self. She has a backbone which most women don’t in these types of books.
Now… these two will take you on the ride of your life. They will make you mad, sad, angry, hopeless, and happy… sometimes all at the same time. They will give you one hell of a roller-coaster ride, and a very great one at that.
Cora has a vivid way of expressing her characters, storyline, back story and so much more; makes you feel like you are in the book because it’s so vividly and beautifully written.
I can’t wait for the next book! I NEED more!
There’s a fine line between love and hate.
A leading lady with so much sass and fire never fails to catch my attention and Eden is just that lady! Loved the twists and turns of this story. I simply loved the character writing in this book. There’s a depth to the relationships between, not only our main characters, but the supporting characters as well. Also, Mateo – love him! Looking forward to Faded Gray Lines!
Omg!!
This is my first book by cora and I now want to read everything she’s written, this book is amazing, as a mafia lover I was excited just from reading the blurb and the rollercoaster it took my emotions on made my head spin but in the best way.
If you’re like me, love your books dark and you aplhaholes hot then this is definitely the book for you.
I now need more!!
What a nice welcome to the carerra family!!
A dark and twisted mafia book with everything I needed inside. Cora kenborn was a new author to me and I’m so glad I found her books. I couldn’t put this book down page after page of amazing words. I recently got into the mafia book world and have to say this is right up there at the top of my list. Eden was at the wrong place at the wrong time witnessing something she shouldn’t and val just so happens to be the man in charge. I don’t think he expected for Eden to mess with his head and want her but I’m sure glad he did. The scenes are hot the pages keep you wanting more. If you like mafia with a twist and darkness and kidnapping then it’s the book for you 100% recommended and worth more than 5* stars
Holy dark romance! Yes! I have red mob romances before. But never any with the cartel so this was a whole new experience for me. I loved it. Eden and Val are fire. Their story had me crying and swooning over and over. Eden knows loss. She also knows the need for revenge. Turns out people she trusted put her life in danger. They also put cartel leader Val in her path. Val hasn’t had an easy life. He heads the cartel in America. He has to prove to a father he hates and also himself he is strong enough. Then spit fire Eden is in his path. He thinks she is his prisoner but he quickly learns you can’t hold down a strong woman. Soon they both start feeling things they want to deny. Then it turns into they need each other for survival. Dark romance fans. Grab this now. And if you like audiobooks, you need to listen on audio. The narration is amazing. Each narrator did an amazing job. I felt like I was listening to a movie. And I love that it’s the series because at the end you’ll need more.
DNF. Just quit half of the book more or less.
I’m sorry. I tried to like this book but just couldn’t connect with the main characters. Especially the girl. I just couldn’t get her attitude nor her behaviour and I wasn’t definitely a fan of her look either. I was strugling with the main characters and the story. If the alpha character needs telling himself and others how tough he is, then he isn’t that much.
I know most people enjoyed if but I decided to take a break.
I’m a huge fan of Catherine Wilcher’s books and I thought this would be like her books more or less but it didn’t work for me. Still I’m definitely reading Cora Kenborn and Catherine Wiltcher’s upcoming books together.
Powerful and disturbing, this book is not for the faint of heart. I listened to the audiobook and it was so well done that I needed to take a break when Eden’s brother was killed. Oh my goodness, my heart broke for her and that is a testament to the writing but also the Sarah Puckett’s narration as her voice projected pain.
The rest of the story continued with her and Valentin dealing with major issues that are expected once you’re entrenched in a mob war. Seriously, there were some difficult moments but I have to say, I’m typically a rom com listener so this was a bit out of my ordinary. However, add in the chemistry between these two characters and this is a fast paced, heart pounding story.
I listened to the audiobook. Brian Pallino’s narration is wonderful. He affects a beautiful accent when he plays Valentin and yet, is able to shift easily to a non-accented voice. He was so skilled that is reminds me of what a loss his is to the narrator world. What confused me the most is what role Alan Carlson plays. He plays Brody, an ADA who is involved in this mob war. His book is book 3 in the series so his role is a set up. He also, was fantastic as a narrator, making this one of the strongest narration teams I’ve listened to in a while!

I liked this book, it hooked me up from the start and pulled an all-nighter with it. The mystery, suspense, and angst in a perfect balance. The characters and world-building fantastic. I couldn’t turn it off. Very well written, the pacing was perfect, the storyline plot was interesting. Valentin and Eden’s story is full of romance, thought it was going to be much darker, to be honest, and the chemistry to be more riveting, but it might be all me as I have been reading pretty dark stories recently. The audiobook narrators were good, Brian Pallino, Sarah Puckett, and Alan Carlson. I have heard them all before multiple times and I do love them, so for me, they hit their mark. The editing was good as well.
**4.5 Stars**
I was so excited to try out a new author and I love dark, twisted heroes. I haven’t read a ton of cartel books but they are quickly becoming a new favorite of mine. Blurred Red Lines is book one in the Carrera Cartel series and I found myself getting invested in the story early on. As with a lot of these kind of books, I think they start off a little confusing as they try to suck you in with a lot of action and you figure out early on that you definitely cannot trust anyone as everyone is not who they seem and everyone has their own agenda.
My heart went out to Eden due to the loss she suffered which ultimately set her on the path she went in this book. I do think despite the circumsances of how the relatiosnhip started, Eden and Val had some seriously hot chemistry. The book was chock full of action, drama, betrayal and I found myself dying to know how the story was going to play out and if there was going to be a decently happy ending considering all of the trouble throughout the book. I enjoyed the author’s writing style and cannot wait to read the next book in the series!!!
Blurred Red Lines (The Carrera Cartel, Volume 1) is the first book in this steamy captive to lovers romance that is told in multi pov. A cartel war, soaked with suspense, romance and action. Eden’s fiesty character was entertaining to listen to. The world building aspect is well established. A captivating listen.
Brian Pallino, Sarah Puckett, Alan Carlson dual naration was perfection. Character’s were given their own voice and emotions played out. Excellent naration.

This was my first Cora Kenborn’s book, and won’t be my last. This is the first book in The Carrera Cartel Series, an amazing dark mafia romance. Valentin and Eden’s story is suspenseful, filled with danger, violence, action, and twists and turns. Valentin is dark, ruthless, and powerful. Eden is strong, determined, independent, and brave. The cast of supporting characters is impressive. The storyline is intricate and captivating. Impossible to put it down. I HIGHLY recommend it! Brian Pallino, Sarah Puckett and Alan Carlson did a wonderful job with the narration. I am looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series, Faded Gray Lines, Mateo’s story.
Blurred Red Lines by Cora Kenborn is a dark mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Brian Pallino, Sarah Puckett, and Alan Carlson.
This is the first book in the Carrera Cartel series and each book can be read as a standalone. However, its recommend to read them in order to avoid spoilers.
This is the first book of Cora’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed the relationship between Eden and Valentin. I liked that we got Eden, Valentin, and Brody’s points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
I can’t wait for the next book in the series Faded Gray Lines to be released on audio so I can get Mateo and Leighton’s story.
Brian, Sarah, and Alan did an amazing job on the narration. This trio really knows how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone that loves mafia/cartel romances, dark romances, or romantic suspense.

Audio review
This is an incredibly good audio. The story is intense, fast paced, convoluted, dark and completely compelling. I have been riveted from start to finish. Both Eden and Val are fabulous characters, but add in Nash, Brody, Mateo and Emilio, and you have even more to draw you in.
Sarah Puckett is amazing. Her narration is outstanding. Alan Carlson captures and brings Brody to life. But, for me, the star is the wonderful, gifted, talented Brian Pallino. His voice is beautiful and rich. The loss of this gifted man is one which, as just an audience to his talent, is felt deeply. Be at peace.
This is an action packed drug cartel romance. It has what you would expect in this intense story. 2 Mexican cartels, at war , one is trying to move in on the Carrera cartel. Missing drug shipments, explosions, murder, betrayal, kidnapping, torture, and so much going on. Eden becomes a stronger woman when she is with Valentin. He is intrigued by her. She doesn’t make him weaker, she completes him. I couldn’t believe how great this story is. This is the first book I listened to by Cora Kenburn. And it did not disappoint. I can’t wait for the next one.
Brian Pallino, Sarah Puckett, Alan Carlson are outstanding narrators. Their performance was fantastic, telling the story with such emotion. They bring the angst, raw emotion and personality to each character.

The Carrera Cartel, Volume 1
By: Cora Kenborn
Narrated by: Brian Pallino, Sarah Puckett, Alan Carlson
This book is amazing, it is a fantastic romantic suspense! The story is dark, dangerous and intense, it grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire time. This is the type of book that you can’t put down because you need to know what happens next. Cora Kenborn is a gifted author with a creative mind and an awesome writing style. Her characters are complex and well developed, as is the world dynamics of Cartel and their dark and twisted world. Eden Lachey, the lead female unknowingly lands herself in the midst of a battle for power in the Mexican Cartel. I admired her strength and ability to stand up for herself, she does not back down even if the odds are against her. Valentin Carrera, the son of the head of the Carrera Cartel is in the US doing business. He has politicians in his pocket as well as other corrupt officials. Things start going array in his operations, shipments go missing, a hit goes bad and he finds out he is being targeted by a competing family. Then there is her, Eden, his Cereza, the one he vowed to not get involved with but she winds up not only caught up in it but the center of it all. This book is cleverly plotted and there is never a dull moment, with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling suspense and hot romance. There are heartfelt and emotional moments as well. Cora Kenborn, thank you for this great story and the emotional and thrilling rollercoaster ride. I hope to hear more of this series on audio soon.
I listened to the Audible edition, Brian Pallino, Sarah Puckett & Alan Carlson are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They do an awesome job portraying the characters, humanizing them, giving each their own voice and personality. Brian Pallino played Valentin’s role perfectly, his accent and alpha take no crap attitude was spot on. Sarah Puckett’s Eden was bad ass with just enough heart and Alan Carlson played the perfect Brody. I loved how they made the roles their own and sounded just as I pictured the characters to sound. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this awesome listen

Blurred Red Lines
The Carrera Cartel, Volume 1
By: Cora Kenborn
Narrated by: Brian Pallino, Sarah Puckett, Alan Carlson
Dark, gritty and delicious, this is a fantastic listen. Blurred Red Lines is the first book I have heard by Cora Kenborn and I hope she keeps them coming! The Carrera Cartel is powerful, and they will do what needs to be done to keep their merchandise selling. When Eden is in the wrong place at the wrong time, she is taken and held by the Valentin. But who knew this little candy apple red haired woman would get under the tough skin of this commanding man. And our story begins. This is not a story for the light hearted. Kenborn does not weaken the violence, She writes with the ferocity of the content, and at the same time she humanizes the characters. I love Val. He is a conflicted boss, ready to deal with the problems occurring, yet he has a heart. Eden is a fabulous character. She’s no pushover and is ready for revenge. Twists, turns and surprises fill the story with violence, suspense, passion and love. This is my kind of book and I can’t wait for more.
This narration team is phenomenal. Brian Pallino scores as Val with a sensual, yet dangerous sounding Mexican accent. He is just so good! Sarah Puckett as Eden brings that vengeful powerhouse of a woman, ready to give as good as she gets in all aspects of her life. And Alan Carlson as Brody. He is fantastic, really enjoying his narration as he brings him to life. I loved them all, found they flowed well together and enjoyed this immensely!

Blurred Red Lines is an action packed Cartel Romance. It is fast-paced and filled with high-spirited characters. I enjoyed the escape it gave me into another world.
Eden and Val are a fierce pair. Their chemistry is a strong as the team they make in their fight to settle their scores. The intrigue between Texas and Mexico which follows these two is a true adventure.
I usually don’t care for the mafia books, and this is the reason why. This mob boss is an idiot. And annoying. And the girl is just as stupid. Wow. I couldn’t finish it. I could have suffered through to the end, Blurred Red Lines by Cora Kenborn. I usually don’t care for the mafia books, and this is the reason why. This mob boss is an idiot. And annoying. And the girl is just as stupid. Wow. I couldn’t finish it. I could have suffered through to the end, but I decided against it. I don’t want to include spoilers, but if I did, you would see just how stupid these characters were. Don’t bother with this one.
