There are only two ways a human can cross the gates of Bloodstone Institute: as a familiar to one of the Blueblood vampires who attend the elite school or as a snack.
I’m neither, but I have to get in at all costs. My brother made a big mistake, and now I have to fix it by stealing from the most powerful and cruel vampire to ever come to Bloodstone, Lucca Della Morte. If that wasn’t almost … almost suicidal, I need to get it done before the spell concealing my human nature wears off.
But I forget that I’m only pretending to be a vampire. I’m still human and susceptible to Lucca’s dangerous allure. His darkness calls to my soul. His savagery makes my blood sing. I’m falling for the dark prince, craving him in a visceral way that’s frightening and exciting at the same time.
If he discovers my secret, he’ll destroy me. And yet, I can’t help wanting to get closer. I never thought I had a death wish until I met him.

Thank you Amazon for recommending this book to me. I never expected to enjoy so much a random find like that
This is a great paranormal story.
No wait.
This is an AMAZING paranormal story.
It has Vampires (like even different kinds of them! What!? ), shifters, dragons, ghosts, witches, assholes that need to die ASAP etc..
Ok I’ll be honest here. I really liked this. The plot was unique, the characters were interesting as fuck and I got so hooked that I already bought the second one of the series. Talk about interesting plots.
Usually, the paranormal romance books are more centered in the sexual/mating part and not that much in the rest of the plot. That’s not the case here. Don’t misunderstand me though, there is really good smutt!
We have an amazing storyline. A vampire prince that was cursed and will die if he doesn’t brake it. A human-ish girl that pretends to be a vampire in order to get near him. At the same time the whole vampire species flirt with war if they break a certain agreement. How is a necklace connected with all the above..?
We get to read all this greatness while the Dark Prince tries to break his curse without hurting his girl.
I can go on and on. I’m really amazed by what I’ve read and it is one of these rare occasions that I think a review is not enough to describe how much I liked this.
I’m a smutt slut. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. This story, though while it has SOME REALLY SEXY TIME , it’s not centered there. We get action. We get drama. We get anger. We get emotions.
And I loved reading every second of it.
Holy smokes what a ride this story was. With every little twist and turn and the feeling of the connection between Lucca and Vivi and the reasoning behind it was intense and mind blowing. I have come to absolutely adore this author’s writing and it was amazing through this book. It was a sizzling slow burn with raw and intense moments. Especially when things come to light between them and Vivi’s history.
There was a lot of push and pull in this story and I couldn’t put it down once I started. With that, I am in love with the concept and the world that Hercules has created with these Blueblood Vampires. I am really looking forward to more!
Paranormal romance perfection. Loved the characters, the stakes, the sexy scenes. Will definitely read the next book.
It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to read PNR (which I LOVE). Michelle Hercules’s Dark Prince gave me the re-entry I needed back into Paranormal Romance with this entertaining, twisty world of vampires, shifters, witches and more. I fell for Lucca, Vivienne and their twisted enemies to lovers story filled with secrets, suspense and more palm-rubbing revelations than you could shake a stick at. This world sucked me in and kept me hanging on. I’m definitely ready for Book 2.

STORY:
This was a I love this….but book, however, my overall consensus, I love it and looking forward to reading book 2.
I love the world building for this story and characters. You’ve seen this before with centuries old vampires, humans, other worldly beings and institution for vampires theme, but I like the way this author did it.
I know it’s new adult, but sometimes it came off like teenagers with a high school like atmosphere. The relationship building between Lucca and Vivi, build up is so so but great chemistry once together. It was a tiny bit predictable, either that or I guessed it well. Almost to the end and the way the story was unfolding I thought it would be a cliffhanger, but it unfolded rather quickly. Nevertheless, I was entertained.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
Once Lucca and Vivi came together, I really liked their sex scenes. I was just not a fan of their build as I found it ok.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
A big part of what made this book really good, the secondary characters, good or bad. It was raining characters, witches, shifter, ghost & vamps and I didn’t feel lost but intrigued as I Lucca’s and Vivi’s story played out.
Lucca’s posse consist of Saxon, Ronan and Manu. Vivi’s posse Aurora, Cassie, Karl to name a few. Really looking forward to Aurora’s story, she stood out a lot to me.
OVERALL:
Good start to a series and hopefully the follow ups keeps the same momentum.
TRIGGERS: rape (not shown), attempted rape and addiction.
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
Very good vampire romance! I enjoyed the storyline and the storytelling was great as well. I really loved this spin on vampires and prince Lucca was a sexy young vampire with good looks who was very likeable. And Vivienne was awesome as well. They had a great chemistry and some really good steamy scenes. Their was action and bad vamps and a lot of laugh out loud humor. And some great secondary characters like Saxon a sexy smart vamp with plenty of swagger. And high witch in training Aurora were just some of my favorites. This was a stand alone, but their are more books in this series. I will definitely check them out down the road. Until next time Luv’s
I did enjoy the story and most of the characters. It had a few surprises that made the tale more enjoyable. I did also love the main characters unaware love story. It was very normal to be falling in love and not recognize it for what it was.
Although I did enjoy this story, I do not know how I feel about the other character’s stories. I do own the whole trilogy, but I think I will wait a bit before reading the others to make it more fresh and exciting.
Having only recently got into paranormal romance novels, this one didn’t disappoint and I read it in a few hours. Takes me back to the world of Buffy and Angel, Michelle really manages to create a perfect alternative world.
Chemistry was off the charts hot between Lucca and Vivi, and you fall in love with the characters as well as all the supporting cast.
As with every one of Michelle’s new books or series, the wait until release day is pure torture. Luckily, I was able to get my hands on an ARC and let me tell you, Lucca and Vivienne’s story had me turning the pages faster and faster. Michelle Hercules has a talent for keeping you guessing until the very end. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, a plot twist in the next chapter throws all your theories out the window. Dark Prince is the perfect blend of romance and suspense set in the supernatural world of a current Salem.
I could not put this down!
vampires
I couldn’t put it down! Gorgeous cover and the story was super fun and fresh! It was a cool unique vampire-human romance! Dark at times but with enough sass and comic relief to keep you satisfied! I found myself swooning hard for Lucca! its definitely a Romeo and Juliet but they get it right this time! I read this with my kindle unlimited
Oh my darling Lucca! So much darkness, so many secrets! Vivienne and Rikkon have had a hard life, but it only gets worse when Vivienne has to face her worst fear and steal from a very powerful vampire prince, all to save her brother. Lucca just woke up from an extremely long slumber, the world has changed, too much for his liking. He feels unsteady and out of balance. The only time he feels like everything is right is when he is with Vivienne, but she is the thief that tried to steal from him. Vivienne and Lucca hate each other, but are so drawn to each other they are confused. Will love win, will Vivienne and Lucca learn to trust and accept each other?
Warning, this is book 1 in the series and the end sets up for the next book.
Lucca has just woken from a long hibernation and is about to his his world turned upside down and inside out – by a human of all things.
Vivienne is just trying to get by, she has her brother and her band mates and that’s all she needs right?!. But when Vivienne’s brother goes missing, she will do anything to get him back safely ~ even if that means stealing from the most feared vampire! Yeah, that’s not going to end well for her hey!
I loved the characters, the world building and the story kept me on my toes and had me hooked from the first couple of pages! A must read!
Highly entertaining, sexy, fun and action packed adventure filled with dangers yet intriguing charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and emotionally thrilling turns. Great read form beginning to end.
There’s a lot of paranormal and academy narratives , but Michelle Hercules brings a new facet to it. Lucca and Vivienne’s story are greatly developed. A new world is brought to ours minds through the well-built lines, almost real. You can sense their desires, their smell, their taste, even the pain. It’s a steamy, adventurous, romantic and mysterious story. Hope the next title will be available very soon. Thanks, Michelle for the ride.
4.5 stars
Wait. What? How can it end like that… I want more.
I absolutely loved this book and am so glad I picked it up. I think sometimes I forget how much i love a PNR.
Lucca has finally awoken after 90 years. Celebrating at a club, a human girl attempts to steal a family heirloom. But other trouble arises that he ends up dismissing the girl… even though her blood calls to him. Headed to school to catch up on current times he stumbles across the human who tried to steal from him… but how did she get in?
Vivienne (Vivi) will do anything to help her brother. In order to save him, she needs to steal a necklace from the Blood Prince, Lucca. At first Vivi is terrified. As the story unfurls she finds her gusto, but she is leery of her feelings and attraction to Lucca.
Just as the story crescendo’s it ends… a cliffhanger of sorts. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the main characters and all the secondary characters. I can’t wait for the next one. I have a feeling the storyline will progress with a secondary set of characters as the main ones.
Definitely one-click this now!
Dark Prince is the first book in the Blueblood vampire series and I was hooked from beginning to end. The story was engrossing and engaging with twists and turns you won’t see coming. Lucca and Vivienne’s story will have you at the edge of your seat frantically turning the pages. It was a perfect mix of suspenseful yet romantic, angsty and steamy and I loved these characters. The author did a great job with world building and introducing us to this new world and I can’t wait to see there she takes this series. It was an excellent start to this new series and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of paranormal romance.
Wow! This is EXACTLY what I was craving. A suspenseful, engrossing, paranormal story that I could sink my teeth into.
It is a story I did not want to end! And although the next book will not be with the same couple, I will be able to immerse myself into this world once more with a different couple that has been featured in this book. I cannot wait!
Vivienne has been taking care of her oldest sibling, Rikkon, for years. She’s has been getting him out of scrapes and dangerous situations since she can remember. So, it comes as no surprise that her brother has gotten himself into another scrape. What is surprising is that it is with the dangerous Dragon gang and what they want is a necklace from a vampire in exchange for Rikkon’s life.
She foils her first attempt and luckily gets away with her life but also a fascination and dangerous attraction to her mark, Lucca.
Getting help from a mysterious figure, she is able to cloak her humanity and join the vampire ranks at the Bloodstone Institute in hopes of getting close to Lucca once more and finally stealing the necklace. With vampires everywhere, Lucca on her scent, dangerous foes to be thwarted and an attraction to her mark that becomes more powerful as the days progress, this cannot end well for Vivienne. Or can it?
This is one heck of a page-turning read. On one hand, I was more than eager to know what happens next and on the other, I wanted to slow down and savour every moment. This is the type of paranormal romance that eclipses everything I was previously doing or should have been doing.
The dash of mystery and suspense was the cherry on top of this delicious proverbial cake.
The characters, including the secondary ones, all endeared themselves to me. I want to know more about them and devour their stories as I have this one.
I rooted for Vivienne and Lucca right from the beginning. Their attraction is as undeniable as the fact that it is forbidden.
Lucca is so much more than he seems. He is without a doubt a dark and powerful vampire prince but he also hides a softer side. His whole character is magnetic and I was reeled in by his character.
Vivienne, on the other hand, was shrouded in so much more mystery than Lucca. The road she has travelled and is still travelling is hard and dangerous. She is strong in her own right. She has a lot of fear being human in a paranormal world but she does not let that stop her. She faces her fears head-on and you can’t help but admire a girl that has gone through what Vivienne has and come out somewhat unscathed.
This book ends on a cliff-hanger, but it is not to continue Vivienne and Lucca’s story, although I’m sure we will revisit them. It is to continue the series with a new couple’s story and I just can’t wait.
I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The dark prince awakens after a 95 year sleep to a truce he doesnt agree on.
A night of celebrations ends with a shock and that is how they meet.
She cant believe she failed her one job. But alas she’s given one more chance and thus finds herself at Bloodstone institute the training school for vampires.
Can she convince everyone that she’s one of them? will he learn her truth?
Michelle Hercules is a one click author to me! I’ve read and loved many a book she has written and so was extremely excited when I first learned of this.
The theme and the location appealed to me greatly, and I can honestly say I wasnt dissapointed.
The storyline pulled me in, and as I got to know the characters more I became emotionally attached to them both.
Lucca has an expiry date that is fast approaching and I felt for him. I want more time with him! it’s as simple as that.
Vivienne is a self sacrificer, who can’t believe in good things and my heart broke for her. She’s a brave and extremely courageous character!
The two of them kept me thoroughly entertained and that to me, is what it’s all about!
Dark prince is book 1 in the Blueblood Vampires series by Michelle Hercules. The book tells the story of Lucca Della Morte a vampire and Vivienne, a human. Vivienne is asked to steal something from Lucca in order to help save her brother. If only the story was a s simple as that. The necklace that she has to steal is to give to a Dragon kingpin. We don’t really find out why he needs it until some things come to light at the end of the book (the book was definitely set up to be part of a series). To steal the necklace Vivienne has to take a potion to enter Bloodstone Academy where vampires, witches and the likes go. The potion is to help cover her scent which is does in a way, but what it doesn’t stop is her ever growing attraction to Lucca.
The story has a lot of twist and turns. Vivienne is a little bit ordinary and very naive when it comes to the vampire traditions and there are some parts in the book which are quite amusing as she tries to hide who and what she is. The irony is that Lucca pretty much figures it out at the beginning of the book but decides to play a cat and mouse game with her whilst also trying not to give into the attraction he feels for her. There is a lot of push and pull between these two characters as they try to navigate what each other wants and what they mean to each other.
You’re definitely thrust into a world which is ruled by the supernatural here where they are clear lines that people don’t cross. The book is full of actions and intrigue and you are left trying to figure out what side of the fence people are on whilst navigating Vivienne and Lucca’s relationship. There certainly is a lot going on in this book but in saying that you’re going to be set up for book 2 and what that is going to entail.
ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review
