The blue water I sank through was angelic, quiet, peaceful… Whitney is a vivacious, highly spirited 17-year-old girl. Her motto, “Live life to the fullest,” is derailed when the young man who’s captured her attention turns out to be the son of a the drug tycoon who provided the drugs that killed her brother. Whitney believes she needs to heal from her first heartache, not knowing she is a part … is a part of a devious trade— one that violates human rights, and she has been… since the day she was born.
Blue Waters is the first Novella in Tainted Waters and begins a story of deception, corruption, self discovery, and love with all that it demands you sacrifice…

“I didn’t need to hear the story of how that permanent mark happened, I just wanted to somehow make my own mark on him-another way for him to remember the trauma-a trail of kisses.”
Each book that India R. Adams shares with us, leaves us feeling our own trail of kisses.
In Blue Waters, first in her Tainted Waters series, we meet and become entranced with a couple that are devoted friends, and as we are pulled into their world, one where they are unsuspecting of the parts they play in so many other lives, we cannot help but feel what they do.
Sweet, loving, painful, heartbreaking, glorious, life…and death.
Such a fantastic read! It’s been a while since I’ve read a book that’s managed to hold my interest. It’s blowing my mind how good this book is. I don’t know why I put off reading this book for so long. But something inside of me must’ve known just how massively this story would affect me. From the very first page, I was entranced with the relationship between Whit and Link. A friendship unlike any other, a friendship I am very much envious of. Despite being brought up with money, they didn’t let it affect their upbringing, feeling extremely burdened by the responsibility and expectations that come with wealth. Come in, Crash, an unexpected and handsome stranger and love dwells immediately. But because of the walls they both put up and the secrets they withhold, problems arise and threaten to harm their relationship.
There were so many twists and turns, that had me on the edge of my bed screaming in frustration and delight. I was so overwhelmed by the emotions that came over me, I felt consumed. This series is novellas are my latest addiction and I can’t get enough. I stayed up until 4am til I finished this baby and if I wasn’t busy all day I would’ve just sat in bed with the next book! Definitely a must read. If you like YA novels with dark undertones and romance that will have you tingling, this is the one for you!
OMG, I cried so hard! A very well written and touching book about young love and consequences of secrets.
Whitney and Link have been best friends forever. One day a guy called “Crush” comes into her world and she falls hard for him. He has secrets that he tells her. It clarifies what happened in her past. Link goes through his own bad times and rejects Whitney for a while. Just when her dreams about to come true, another tragedy takes place in her life. From there it all falls apart. What will happen next in their young lives? No HEA in this one. Will continue onto the next book to see what happens.
A friend recommended this author to me and I cannot tell you how happy I am that I took a chance on her! I don’t read a lot of YA but I love a good mystery/suspense so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. This book is a fantastic mix of both! I was completely drawn into this world from the very first sentence. “There was a beauty in dying that day…”
I don’t give storyline details in my reviews because I want readers to experience it for themselves but what I will tell you is that India R Adams writing had me completely captivated! There is so much depth to the storyline and characters that even though I read it quickly it didn’t feel like a Novella. This is a thrilling read full of mind blowing twists and turns you will never know what’s coming next. I was on the edge of my seat from the first page to the last. This book is a great start to a series that has absolutely blown my mind and I highly recommend it!
I loved Adams’ writing right from the beginning of this book. Whit and Link had amazing chemistry on the page and were a joy to read.
The dark turns that the story took along the way had me on the edge of my seat. It was intensity at its best. I cannot wait to read the next books in the series.
This was an amazing book. It was one of those books which just turns into the perfect storm and when you read it, all you can do is hang on and hope that you survive all the way to the end, and really, there’s no guarantee that you will.
This story is about Whitney and the two men in her life, Link and Crash. Those aren’t their real names, but if I were them, I would be more than happy to have the nicknames, because really, Reether and Harold? Who does that to their kids?
Anyway, Whit and Link have been best friends since forever. They are together as often as possible, and they do as much as possible together. They are also competitive and enjoy tricking each other when possible.
Crash is a whole different story. He just kind of crashes into Whitney’s life, and due to the circumstances under which they meet, he calls her Franky as a nickname. They are just drawn to each other, like a magnet.
When I was done reading this book, I just sat and stared off into space because there was so much to process and I had so many, many feelz. It’s a fantastic story.
Wow!!!
Like all of India’s books I should remember to expect the unexpected.
This book starts sweet and quiet, but don’t be fooled like I was!!

Gonna be a short, to the point review because I don’t want to give anything away. All I can say is India can write. Literally drew me in from page 1 and I ended up reading it in one day. For this being a novella, it packed so much in without it being overloaded with information. I fell in love with Whit right off the bat – spitfire intensified. And I couldn’t decided who my next book boyfriend was going to be – Link or Chase. Two very strong leading male characters and Whit was lucky to have both of them in her life. It is a captivating tale…so much so that I started Black Waters as soon as I put this one down. Dive it, you will not be disappointed!
Whitney is a normal seventeen-year-old girl. Her parents are rich snobs who don’t really care about her and want her to take a real career in medicine instead of her true passion of dance.
But Whitney never listens. She’s given up on listening to them and trying to please them ever since her brother Timothy died.
Her whole world, however, comes crashing down when she meets Harold “Crash” Thompson. The young man who knows more than Whitney does about the day her brother died…and the people who are responsible for it. Now Whitney must face a choice- discover the truth with Crash and taint the perfectly blue waters that is her life, or turn her back on him and follow the lies that everyone wants her to.
This is a really good book! <3
As I keep saying when it comes to this author, I feel I came late to the party. Just introduced to her in the last couple of months, I have devoured now just over half of her books. The emotions in her book are raw and I can feel this coming out of the book while reading the stories!!
I usually stray away from novellas not that I don’t like them, but it always leaves me with wanting more like right now!!!. This one was a little different but I felt like I got a good amount of the story and can’t wait to move on to the next one.
Whitney (Franky) and Harold (Crash) seem to be just normal young adults but find that they share someone in comment. Not only after Whitney discovers who Crash really is that she feels betrayed all over again and brought back to one of the worst times in her young life
Crash had been looking out for a treasure for years as it was a promise that was made on the night he lost his “brother”. But Link would stand in the way as her protector until the real truth is revealed.
When she should not have fallen for the wrong guys it would cost her her friends but there was something she trusted in him that she had to hide from her friends to keep them safe.
Gah, I could go on and on but you need to read this novella and discover Franky and Crash for yourself.
I finished this novella and felt like I’d been gutted 🙁
Luckily, I had the sequel loaded up on my kindle, so I jumped on to read that, because otherwise, I would have been in complete and utter denial of the ending.
I loved everything about this novella – Whit, Crash, Link, and all the secondary characters. The love blossoming between Whit & Crash, the Romeo & Juliet aspect of their relationship, Crash’s willingness to put himself on the line…
Full with angst, laughs, joy and tears, this is a story you don’t want to miss!
Wow. I was so utterly and completely absorbed by this book; It literally enveloped me. (See what I did there 😉 ) And sweet Jesus, that ending! Talk about hanging on the edge. Ahhh the torture!
First, I will totally agree with Whit, the main character of this book, in saying that Crash is totally Mr. Lickable *insert smirk face* Crash is a stunning character who has endured much hardship, and we, the readers, develop strong feelings of empathy for him. (Side note: he has been added to my fictional boyfriends list)
Secondly, Whitney is an unbelievably strong and passionate human being; she is resilient and fights for what she believes in her heart is right. She makes decisions with her heart, and I admire that about her. She is also incredibly funny and spontaneous, which makes this book super hard to read in bed, whilst pretending to sleep and your parents are in the room next door… Shhh…
I was gifted this book by the author for an honest review.
I have found my new favourite author.
India Adams writing is so smooth and flawless. The characters are so easy to connect to you feel your living within the pages along with them.
The story centres around three main characters Whitney, Link and Crash.
Whitney is a headstrong sassy 17 yr old with dreams of being a dancer. Much to her parents dismay but they humour her whist ignoring her.
Link has been her partner in crime forever. The friendship they have is unbreakable.
Whilst out with her best friends Whitney bumps into Crash. A handsome “lickable” male.
Whilst a friendship grows into something more. Not all is as it seems. Whitney learns some disturbing information about the death of her brother. And is dragged into the world everyone was trying to keep her away from.
Did i mention this was flawless? India has a way of pulling you into the pages. The story is well paced and although I finished it quickly it didn’t feel rushed at all.
I started this at 11pm last night and had to put it down after the first chapter as I just knew if i didn’t i would be up all night.
After picking it up as soon as i woke this morning i indeed didn’t put it down until i was finished. And boy what an ending. I so have to read book two now.
Amazingly emotional ride
Don’t let the novella size fool you! How Ms. Adams manages squeezes so much emotion into a short read I’ll never know. This story is hauntingly beautiful with words that will resonate with anyone who’s experienced loss. Whit, Crash and Link’s story left me in tears. Dark themes and underworld tones draw you in from the first page. Can’t wait to read more.
I am speechless after reading this book!! This story is full of sadness, pain, loss and love. I admire Whitney’s strength, courage and love she has for her friends. How she fights to overcome all the obstacles she must face until the end. India give us a gift with this book! I can’t wait to read Black Waters!
A short but captivating read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Read it all in one go, I couldn’t stop reading till I finished this story.
There are so many twist and turns throughout this novella. I didn’t know what was going to happen next. Ugh… I didn’t want to love Crash because I felt for Link. But he had me because he cared so deeply for the girl he called Franky. I’m not sure how Black Waters is going to go. I know it will be Link’s pov and I’m all for it.
oh my heart. It has been broken and I have no idea if it will ever be whole again.
This was my very first India book and it is amazing. The detail and storyline is captivating from the first page and I had a hard time putting it down.
“Frankly” and Chase’s story starts off fun and games making me laugh and I loved them together from the get go. But there are secrets in their lives that will make it hard to keep them together.
India writes one emotion filled story and I can’t wait to read Book 2. I highly recommend with a box of tissues nearby.
This is my first India Adamas book, and can I say, wow! what an introduction! This book was everything and more! This was such a beautiful story, of friendship, first love and sacrifice. And I cannot wait to read book two!
I love a good gut wrenching read and Blue Waters was that. Whitney meets Crash and immediately likes him to hang out with her friends but Link finds out he’s the son of the drug dealer who was involved in her brother’s death. Angsty, and drama filled.
What I was expecting out of this book and what I got were two totally different things and I could not be happier. I had no idea I was going to devour this book, and feel so many different emotions while reading and even after. I’m so extremely happy I decided to read Blue Waters. It maybe just a novella but you don’t miss anything that you would get in a full length novel. Blue Waters has depth, and layers and is a fantastic read I would recommend to anyone.
This book. These characters. Amazing. Leaves you begging for more.
This author displays her wonderful ability to tell a story and keep a readers attention. This story was an an epic adventure of a girl being drug into something she has no clue about. It is a story of second chances, quick romance and a beautiful description of tough things. I loved the scenes, the situations, pretty much everything about this book. The author keeps your attention (screw real life!) from the first word and you are left with your jaw dropping, picking it up off the floor by the end. Epic tale with an epic ending.
Whitney is a smarteleck, quick witted female (one of my faves!). She expresses her opinions and doesn’t think about it. Girl meets boy, life progresses. The characters are faced with situations they are not prepared for nor know how to deal with. The ending is shocking and you’ll be begging for more.
An amazing book that all romance lovers will love and want to read!!
