Two Dead Men
In London’s fashionable Chelsea, a Halloween bash goes terribly wrong. Emmeline Wardle, daughter of a frozen foods baron, throws a party which results in the demise of two university schoolmates. Handsome golden boy Trevor Parsons is dead. So is pasty computer nerd Clive French. Both died on the Wardle estate within minutes of one another, and both died the same way — an axe to the … — an axe to the skull. Given the social connections of all involved, New Scotland Yard sends a real baron to investigate: Chief Superintendent Anthony Hetheridge, also known as Lord Hetheridge, ninth baron of Wellegrave.
Two Prime Suspects
This time around, Detective Sergeant Kate Wakefield and her partner, Detective Sergeant Deepal “Paul” Bhar, have their work cut out. Bhar must contend with Emmeline Wardle, a spoiled blonde with a penchant for the finer things, including a certain illegal white powder. Kate must decide if Kyla Sloane, model-pretty and delicate, is being truthful about the events of that fateful night. Book was a little slow paced for my liking
Have read most of the books in this series.
I have read four books in this series and enjoyed every one. Then I went back and reread them in the proper order and enjoyed them again. Blue Murder is excellent as a stand alone, but it is even better if you read it in the context of the series.
Great who-done-it series!
The murder description was rather gruesome and repeated several times. I didn’t care for the character interactions and felt the murderer was easily guessed at even though there were a proliferation of suspects.
Great characters! Jameson has a really good feel for making characters and scenes compelling and often funny.
Emma Jameson is a writer who can bring the most mundane scene to life causing me to read ’till the wee hours of the night. She has brought “Tony” from the staid & boring Lord & Ladies into the bright sunshine & he is simply fascinated with normal day to day happenings. Enlightening, you bet! Thank You Emma Jameson for filling some of my time …
I loved the whole series.
The Brits love unusual murder methods, and this one delivers.
Outstanding!
Enjoyable.
I really enjoy Emma Jackson’s writing. The mystery is so “slippery”.
I enjoyed this book, but it didn’t really inspire me to read more of this series, though I might. I just wasn’t especially interested in the two main characters. I did really like the Indian detective and his mother – they were far more interesting characters. I thought the end was satisfying.
Always wonderful police procedural mysteries, this book did not disappoint. I love how the writing is clear and straightforward. Excellent character development and plot. Another good one!
Engaging characters.
All Emma Jameson’s “Blue ” books are good! I’ve read the first three.
I wanted to read it again because it was so good but I must have deleted it but I have to pay to read it again. Is there a way to get it back in my library of books from book bUb? When I get a series of books I like, I tend to read them more that once and the interaction between these two main characters is just great!
This is a “who done it” murder mystery for Anthony Hetheridge and his team at Scotland Yard to solve. One of the team is DC Kate Wakefield of whom Anthony has special feelings for and hopes to include her in his life as more than just a work partner. The team must discover who committed the two gruesome murders of college boys at a party. At the …
