From USA Today bestselling author Tess Thompson, visit Blue Mountain yet again in this standalone tale that celebrates underdogs, family secrets, and forbidden love. Charlotte Wilde’s life is a flop. She gives her heart to the wrong men, her first published book is a failure, and now she’s dead broke too. Desperate to pay the bills, she takes a job caring for an elderly woman who is recovering … recovering from a broken hip, hopeful the position will leave her with plenty of time to focus on her writing.
Yet as Charlotte gets to work, dutifully helping Mrs. Lanigan sort through a box of old letters, distractions abound. For one thing, both women immediately become consumed with a mystery unfolding in the correspondence. And to complicate matters further, Charlotte finds herself drawn to her charge’s son, Ardan, like they’ve known each other forever. Will he become another of her mistakes or has she finally found the one?
In the third volume of the Blue Mountain Series, USA Today bestselling author Tess Thompson reunites us with the Lanigan brothers, their cranky mother, and the feisty Heywood sisters. This standalone story of forbidden love and hundred-year old mystery will keep you turning pages way past your bedtime.

Another winner from Tess Thompson. She writes characters you can’t help but fall in love with. This book has a lot of interwoven stories going on & you’ll understand more of them if you’ve read the first two books in this series, but you certainly can start with this one. Arden Lanigan & Charlotte Wilde are people you can easily relate to, and Charlotte’s interactions with Arden’s Mom are so much fun to read. Truly enjoyed the mystery & the romance that make up this great story.
To start-this is the third book in The Blue Mountain Series. I haven’t yet read the first 2, but didn’t have any trouble getting into the story or connecting with the characters.
This is a sweet romance, plenty of build up without being “steamy”, a.k.a. I’d share this with my mother. The dialog flows nicely between the characters, especially Mrs Lanigan & Charlotte, and there is a fun bit mystery thrown into the mix. This book has a lot of soulmate talk, like any good romance novel should, and the descriptions of the wildlife and Idaho skies make me want to take a road trip. If your looking for something a little lighter to read, Tess Thompson never disappoints!
Such a wonderfully written love story between Charlotte and Ardan! Blue Ink is the third book in the Blue Mountain series, but can be read as a stand alone book. The book is full of all kinds of mysteries. I just love how Tess Thompson creates each character so you instantly fall in love with each and everyone of them. I enjoyed this book so much that I will be downloading the first two books in the series today.
Took me a bit of reading this book to get into it, but once I did, I was hooked!
Charlotte always gives her heart to the wrong guy, the last one left with all her money. She takes a job in Idaho caring for an older woman, who is her old bosses mother in law, Mrs Lanigan. She meets Arden, who rescues her from the Elk blocking the road so she can’t get near the house. Her & Arden hit it off, as well as Mrs. Lanigan.
This story once you get into it will have you hooked, I enjoyed all the banter between Mrs. Lanigan & Charlotte! And the romance with Arden, I loved it! 5 stars grab this asap!!
Poor Mrs. Lanigan. I couldn’t stand her in the other books but in this one my heart was breaking for her. I think Charlotte and Ardan are now my favorite couple so far. I really fell in love with this book and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to read it.
As soon as I know there’s going to be a new Tess Thompson novel released, my heart does a happy dance! I am confident that I am in for a fantastic read that takes me with wonderful characters to amazing places I want to be. Blue Ink is no exception to this! This is the third book in the Blue Mountain series that follows the Lanigan family and their search for their true loves. This is Ardan Lanigan and Charlotte Wilde’s story.
From the very beginning Epigraph of this book, I was drawn in. “What greater thing is there for two human souls than to feel that they are joined to strengthen each other, to be at one with each other in silent unspeakable memories. George Eliot”
Destiny, soulmates, compassion, mystery, past connections, but mostly love. This book had so much that kept me turning the pages. I so enjoyed the character of Charlotte. She is unique, witty, and a perfect sparring match to the cantankerous Mrs. Lanigan. Their dialogue with each other had me laughing in so many places. Charlotte’s connection with Ardan is instant and intense in a “love at first sight” way but with a deeper feel of a meeting of soulmates that was their destiny. I believe in soulmates, destiny and true love that endures forever and Ms. Thompson created a story that wove all those together in such a perfect way. I love the character of Ardan Lanigan. He’s a dream come true type of guy who’s got a heart of gold. He’s so caring and loving, always the good guy wanting to do the right thing.
Bringing Charlotte and Ardan together in this story had my heart beating for their love story. The way Ms. Thompson has with profound words, she puts together wonderful passages that create so many memorable moments in the book. She writes from her heart and it’s so evident from the way she pulls her readers into the story. There are storylines along the way of secondary characters that
are unique and quirky. These characters add so much dimension and are perfect for the wholeness of the book.
I love this series and being a part of the Lanigan family. I love the message in this book and what it spoke to me. This passage is one of the many reasons why:
“A full moon hovered over Blue Mountain. An owl hooted from the woods. Billions of stars lit the sky. “Tell me again why the stars shine so brightly?” I asked.
“To remind of us our purpose.”
“Which is to love.” ………….
Love would always outshine the darkness if we remembered our purpose.
Our only purpose. To love. ”
I find, as I’m writing this review, it falls so short of expressing how good this book is. It’s another outstanding five star plus work of word creation by Ms. Thompson. “The problem with a good book is that you want to finish the book but you don’t want to finish the book.” That’s how it is for me when I read a Tess Thompson novel.
I want to thank her for the honor and privilege of reading and reviewing an ARC of her fantastic book.
Wow! This was another amazing book written by the talented Tess Thompson. Tess has a way of making you feel like you are right there in the room with the characters. I loved every single character in all her series but my favorite was Mrs. Lanigan with her sharp tongue. It a beautifully written story of Charlotte and Ardan finding love with a few bumps along the way. It also had a little twist towards the end. I absolutely loved it!
I’ve read the first two in the Blue Miuntain Series and this one did not disappoint me! Thank you Tess for another wonderful book! Can’t wait for book #4.
I loved the relationship between Charlotte & Mrs. Lanigan. Wonderful story!
I read this book as a ARC member.
Again, ms Thompson pulled me into another world! #cantputitdown
Tess Thompson has taken this reader back to her Blue Mountain Series. The revisit to Blue Mountain in Peregrine with all of her characters is nestled in the amazing imagination she carries. She does not disappoint! Charlotte takes on the amazingly disgruntled Mrs. Lanigan at the request of Bliss, her former boss. Though these pages carry a beauty of their own, do not miss the first two books in the series. Blue Midnight and Blue Moon led Tess’ fans up to this point in the little town of Peregrine, Idaho.
Tess weaves a story like no other….the beauty of nature’s elements support the characters that carry stories and a quirkiness unique as the charm that they bring. This book brings a historical element lost until a box arrives and windows of familial stories are uncovered. The healing of the disgruntled matriarch, Mrs Lanigan is humorous and tender with Charlotte gently guiding her back to the light. I had to set aside Blue Ink a couple of times just to soak in the words and direction of this tiny town. Don’t miss the characters and the businesses housed in Peregrine. Pay close attention to the natural elements planted in the beauty of the words. And, of all things visit the first two books.
There’s beauty in helping the matriarch heal and find her way back to her family. And especially, Charlotte who taught her to find her way.
I think we’ve all had that dream of finding our soulmate… reconnecting with the soul meant for us and us alone.
This book was that and so much more. The reason for my less than 5 star review is that after chewing on this review for a while I feel like there may have almost been too much.
One too many possible climaxes almost made there not be one at all. At the peak of all my emotions I never fully felt like there was victory for the H/h.
However, I did wholeheartedly, laugh & cry. At times, I held my breath unknowingly. I would absolutely recommend this book to friends. Tess pulled it out again.
Oh my heart … I couldn’t have loved Charlotte and Arden any more than I do! What an amazing duo, so right for each other in so many ways!
This is actually a story in a story, mystery, love and such a beautiful serene town !
Tess has such a way with words and her characters are so memorable and the message of this book is perfect … love just love!
Tess Thompson delivers again! In this third romantic suspense story in the series, there is a slightly different twist. Without giving away the plot, I will just say it was very enjoyable. I highly recommend this and all of Ms Thompson’s books.
Another beautiful story by Mrs. Thompson. Blue Ink is wonderful story about soulmates and fate and if you don’t believe in those you will after reading this book!
I loved this book and the characters, and some of them are “characters”. It was wonderful to revisit the location and some of the people. Well done Ms. Tess Thompson! I am certainly hoping there will be more of this series.
Book Review:
Blue Ink (Blue Mountain Series/Book #3) by Tess Thompson
Tess Thompson has written a wonderful story of new beginnings, family values and secrets, love and compassion while painting a crystal clear picture of the mid-west mountain area of Idaho, Blue Mountain, with all its natural wildlife, colorful characters and gorgeous scenery that will truly engage the reader.
It’s a story that will immerse you with its easy flow as well as its twists and turns as The Lanigan Family is brought closer together in ways they never imagined by non other than our protagonist, Charlotte Wilde. A 100 year old mystery makes itself known through the pages of this story and lends intrigue to the heart and soul of this family and those around them.
Although this is Book #3, of the Blue Mountain Series, it most definitely can be read as a stand alone.
I found myself wrapped within this story as it kept my interest from the moment I started until it’s conclusion due to Tess Thompson’s ability in writing a novel with a flawless mixture of the light and airy with humor as well as with depth and focus.
I highly recommend this story to anyone looking for a truly entertaining read.
Thank you Tess Thompson for this gift of an ARC copy for not only my reading enjoyment but the honor of reviewing yet another one of your clever and delightful novels.

I loved this book. And it’s funny, because I am not a believe in love at first sight, soulmate kinda gal. Tess Thompson is one of my favorite authors, and Charlotte is by far my favorite leading lady…Sassy, curvy, with a fabulous sense of humor. Just enough insecurity to make her so likeable …Her banter with Mrs. Lanigan was laugh out loud hysterical. There is romance, some drama, and a wonderful mystery that unfolds in the pages of a stack of old love letters… This is part of a series, but worked for me as a stand alone, as I missed book #2…I read this book quickly, choked up in all the right spots, and came out with a new appreciation of, well…love. Beautifully done, Tess <3
Tess Thompson’s newest book in the Blue Mountain series, “Blue Ink”, had me captivated from the very first page until the very last. Spunky Charlotte Wilde’s interactions with cantankerous Mrs.Lanigan were the BEST! They happily brought back memories of my grandmother and me. Learning the historical back story of past Lanigan family members had me as excited as the characters within the story to want to learn more about the mystery of their lives. Tess Thompson surely outdid herself on this book. Once you start reading it you will never want to put it down!
I loved the first two books in the Blue Mountain series by Tess Thompson, however this one is my favorite! This book had me on the edge of my seat with its wonderful characters and storyline. The book was so entertaining with love, mystery and even caring for a grumpy old lady! It made me laugh, cry and wonder at the relationships of family and friends.
If you’re looking for a great book, look no further! This can be read as a stand alone, however I read the first 2 books in order before this and everything comes together very nicely.
Thank you to the author for allowing me to read an advanced readers copy of this book. It will be published next week on January 21, 2019. Congratulations on another big 5 star book!
Tess Thompson has this way of making you return back to Idaho no matter how long it’s been since her last book in this series. I love Charlotte Wilde and the way her personality is and how Ardan and her met and the mysteries they solved. Tess out does herself with every book and there will never be a book from her that i haven’t read!
