From USA Today bestselling author Tess Thompson, visit Blue Mountain yet again in this standalone tale that celebrates underdogs, family secrets, and forbidden love. Charlotte Wilde’s life is a flop. She gives her heart to the wrong men, her first published book is a failure, and now she’s dead broke too. Desperate to pay the bills, she takes a job caring for an elderly woman who is recovering … recovering from a broken hip, hopeful the position will leave her with plenty of time to focus on her writing.
Yet as Charlotte gets to work, dutifully helping Mrs. Lanigan sort through a box of old letters, distractions abound. For one thing, both women immediately become consumed with a mystery unfolding in the correspondence. And to complicate matters further, Charlotte finds herself drawn to her charge’s son, Ardan, like they’ve known each other forever. Will he become another of her mistakes or has she finally found the one?
In the third volume of the Blue Mountain Series, USA Today bestselling author Tess Thompson reunites us with the Lanigan brothers, their cranky mother, and the feisty Heywood sisters. This standalone story of forbidden love and hundred-year old mystery will keep you turning pages way past your bedtime.

Stopped at about 25%. There were too many things thrown in that did not enhance and confused the story, just beyond far fetched.
Blue Ink is the 3rd book in the Blur Mountain Series but can be read as a stand-alone. Do you believe in love at first site? What about soulmates? Blue Ink has that and sooo much more. Like a cranky old lady, the town psychic, man eating elk, mystery solving and a blast from Ardan’s past. If you like reading your love story’s without graphic sex, Tess Thompson is definitely the author for you. Blue Ink is a story in a story. It was so fascinating that I couldn’t put it down, so make sure you have set aside plenty of time to read! I can’t wait for book 4
Tess Thompson is a brillant author. Although Blue Ink is the 3rd in a series, it can be read alone. Blue Ink is an unpredicatable story filled with love, hate, mystery, jealousy, kindness, and a cantankerous old lady. It is a story within a story. I have to say Blue Ink has become my favorite of the Blue Mountain series. Tess writes beautifully without the need to use crude or vulgar language to convey thought and feeling. I highly recommend Blue Ink.
Took me a bit of reading this book to get into it, but once I did, I was hooked!
Charlotte always gives her heart to the wrong guy, the last one left with all her money. She takes a job in Idaho caring for an older woman, who is her old bosses mother in law, Mrs Lanigan. She meets Arden, who rescues her from the Elk blocking the road so she can’t get near the house. Her & Arden hit it off, as well as Mrs. Lanigan.
This story once you get into it will have you hooked, I enjoyed all the banter between Mrs. Lanigan & Charlotte! And the romance with Arden, I loved it! 5 stars grab this asap!!
I loved it. Delightful. I had never read this series before, and can’t wait to read more. Charlotte and Arden’s story was a love across time, with a mean old lady thrown in. can’t wait to read more of this series
So once again, I jumped into a Tess Thompson series on the third book. That must be my lucky number or something but I do have the other books on my Kindle app and will at some point go back to them.
This has been, by far, my favorite read by Tess Thompson. It had the typical romance but it also had some mystery and a bit of a supernatural touch. Mystery and suspense are my favorite genre types so if Tess continued writing stories like this I’d forever be dedicated to her books and her books alone.
Charlotte Wilde is one of my favorite characters ever. Not just by Tess but in all books. She’s a bit of a thicker girl so I can relate to her insecurity issues but she’s also full of sass and can stand up for herself. Ardan was pretty perfect as well.
(5 out of 5 stars) Even though this was book three it was very easy to read as a stand alone. This may become my new favorite series from Tess but Cliffside Bay may be hard to surpass
I loved this entire series! Wonderful characters and great location. I am hoping there will be more to come!! Please!!
Another great book by Tess Thompson. Blue Ink is a fun read. I really enjoyed the banter between two of the characters. Would definitely recommend
Author Tess Thompson has completely enthralled me with the 3rd book in the Blue Mountain Series. With well developed characters and a beautiful storyline, this is a story to show that soulmates do exist. Charlotte has not had any luck with her choice of men but when Ardan comes on the scene, things begin to change. Written from the heart, Blue Ink will make a believer out of anyone that does not believe in fate and soulmates. I am excited to see what the future has in store for this awesome series!
I love the characters in this book, especially Charlotte. She’s a bit of a mess! I love family sagas that see all the members getting their HEA!
Tess Thompson has a remarkable way of writing stories that are heartwarmingly honest, and her characters lovably flawed. Blue Ink is no exception! A layered love story, Blue Ink is the third book in The Blue Mountain Series but can easily be read as a stand alone. I adored Charlotte’s open heart and Ardan’s vulnerability, two souls who had been trampled on by love before but still saw the best parts of each other. “They (stars) light the sky to remind us that love exists even in the darkest of times. You need only look up to the heavens to remember why we’re here -to love.” Blue Ink by Tess Thompson
I loved this story from the first page. It will make you believe in fate, soul mates, and the life after this one.
They were meant to be from the start. She came in like a fresh breeze, and turned their world upside down. Brought a new life to an old woman and a new love to a man who thought he would never find his one.
I loved the characters in Tess Thompson’s Blue Ink. Mrs. Lanigan was an amazing character and I can’t wait to read more about her!
I have loved this series from the start. It may just be my favorite series ever. The love, feelings, family, drama, dreams and much laughter that’s portrayed keep this story going. It’s so full of each emotion that you won’t be able to stop reading. This is the third book in the series and already I need the next one.
This book is told from Ardan Lanigan and Charlotte Wilde’s points. They meet when she arrives to take care of Ardan’s mother who is losing her sight and recovering from a broken hip. She’s a somewhat hard to please woman but through Charlotte’s caring and patience, she will become a very lovable woman. These two will make you laugh out loud a lot.
Charlotte and Ardan have a destiny. It’s quite simple really; they are destine to fall in love and live happily ever after. Ardan has not had much luck in the love department and neither has Charlotte. Charlotte has recently been burned by someone she thought she loved so has some trust issues. But then again she’s such a romantic. When they first meet is’s honestly LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. Without a doubt. They both feel it and are somewhat afraid to act on it. Ardan was told by Moonstone that Charlotte was his soulmate but he didn’t believe it. He was unsure if soulmates truly existed.
The first time he laid eyes on Charlotte he knew she was the one. The real thing. She’s beautiful in his eyes even though she thinks she is not. She’s just exactly what he wants in his life and he feels it deep inside. She knows that she has very strong feelings for him also. Very quickly they fall deeply in love. Charlotte is such a kind hearted woman and is even able to get through to Ms Lanigan. No one has been able to do that.
The love in these books will make you believe even if you don’t believe in soulmates or love at first site. I personally know it’s real. It’s all in the kiss…. Ardan and Charlotte both know from that first kiss they were destine to be together. It’s a story that will keep you up late wanting to find out what happens next. From the things Charlotte does to help Ms Lanigan to the love she has for someone she only knows for a very short time. She’s just exactly what Ardan needs in his life and he knows it. And he’s just what she needs. They have a love that transcends time and space. So strong that nothing can come between them.
I fell in love with the characters in this book. They took my breath away. Reading a true love story is a wonderful feeling. It gives hope that others will find that kind of happiness. If you don’t already believe in true love you will after reading this. If not for anyone other than Ardan and Charlotte. They have that deep love that comes from a place that you feel but don’t know exaclty how it came to be. That feeling that you have known this person even before you were born. In many other lifetimes. And hopefully lifetimes to come.
Some of my very favorite parts in this book, that touched me deeply are:
….and when one of them meets the other half, the actual half of himself, whether he be a love of youth or a lover of another sort, the pair are lost in an amazement of love and friendship and intimacy and one will not be out of the other’s sight, as I may say, even for a moment… Plato
What greater thing is there for two human souls than to feel that hey are joined to strengthen each other, to be at one with each other in silent unspeakable memories. George Eliot
His kiss pushed aside the past and altered the course of my future. From that moment on, I belonged to Ardan Lanigan. I’d always belonged to him. I just hadn’t met him yet. (Nothing like a life altering kiss, right?)
“I’ve known from the first moment,” I said. “It’s you. It was you all along. I didn’t know where you were.”
“Like this sky,” she said. “I couldn’t see you, but you were here just the same.
“I’ve loved you for at least a dozen lifetimes. I’ll love yo for the rest of this one and the one after that and the one after that.”
The stars shone so brightly in that moment, the dark sky feared for its existence. I understood then that all the ways in which we love each other fed the stars, just as they fed us. Love would always outshine the darkness if ewe remembered our purpose.
Our only purpose. To love.
To love so fiercely an dfearlessly that hate shrinks and cowers and disappears.
This book will leave you breathless. Full of hope. Filled with love. It’s such a great love story. Even though there are parts that will make you cry, it’s just the way of life. With love like this you can endure almost anything. Thank you Tess Thompson for an ARC of such a wonderful book. From start to finish it’s beautiful. A kind of poetry of what true love really is and how you can overcome anything through true, heartfelt, soul touching LOVE!!
Even though this is a stand alone story I reread the first two books in the series just to refresh my memory of the Lanigan family. If at all possible read this first so you have all the background. I love that Ms Thompson has continued this series and expanded to tell the stories of the ‘side’ characters in her previous books. You just never know when or where you’ll meet that special someone. Maybe in the tiny town of Peregrine Idaho.
Blue Ink is the third book in the Blue Mountain Series. Even though this is the first book of the series I have read, I was able to follow the story. I will be going back to read the first two books as I love reading Charlotte and Arden’s story. Tess writes interesting characters who find love at first sight. Blue Ink is about finding your soulmate, love, family, overcoming hardships, with a family mystery told through old letters. I highly recommend Blue Ink. Thank you Tess Thompson for an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Blue Ink, the third book in the Blue Mountain series, tells the story of Charlotte and Ardan. These two characters come from different worlds, but seem to understand each other from the first meeting. I love this story of soul mates, love, family and mystery. Tess Thompson weaves these themes together seamlessly into a tale you cannot put down. I hope there will be another book in the series.
Heart-touching, funny and refreshing, “Blue Ink” was utterly enjoyable from page 1 to the very end! I love books that pull me in and provide an escape, and this one did just that perfectly! Charlotte is one of the most likeable characters I’ve read – she’s kind and sweet but she stands her ground and takes no nonsense. Tess Thompson told Charlotte’s story of finding her soul mate, Ardan, with tons of heart and plenty of humor. The storylines about Charlotte helping Ardan’s mother and about the old letters from the family’s past were fun and interesting, and they truly added to the book, making it more than a standard romance novel. I’ll be reading the other books in the series soon!
This book is a fun mix of mystery and romance, and is a heartwarming reminder that second chances do exist. In typical Tess Thompson fashion, this beautiful tale is funny, sweet, sad and reaffirming. This author never disappoints.
I absolutely love stories that intertwine the past and the present especially through old letters. Charlotte is a writer and in order to help make ends meet she takes on a job helping an aging woman who is also losing her sight. Not only does Charlotte break through Mrs. Lanigan’s tough exterior through reading old letters she also finds herself falling for Mrs. Lanigan’s son, Arden and it’s as if those letters were written about them. This book was hard to put down and by far my favorite of the series so far.
