From USA Today bestselling author Tess Thompson, visit Blue Mountain yet again in this standalone tale that celebrates underdogs, family secrets, and forbidden love. Charlotte Wilde’s life is a flop. She gives her heart to the wrong men, her first published book is a failure, and now she’s dead broke too. Desperate to pay the bills, she takes a job caring for an elderly woman who is recovering … recovering from a broken hip, hopeful the position will leave her with plenty of time to focus on her writing.
Yet as Charlotte gets to work, dutifully helping Mrs. Lanigan sort through a box of old letters, distractions abound. For one thing, both women immediately become consumed with a mystery unfolding in the correspondence. And to complicate matters further, Charlotte finds herself drawn to her charge’s son, Ardan, like they’ve known each other forever. Will he become another of her mistakes or has she finally found the one?

In the third book in the Blue Mountain series by Tess Thompson, we learn more about Charlotte Wilde. She was Bliss Heywood’s assistant until a series of events caused her to reevaluate her life and priorities. Fast forward several years and she receives a call from Bliss asking her to come to Idaho to be a companion to the matriarch of the Lanigan family, Riona Lanigan. She arrives to find out, after the fact, that Mrs. Lanigan has already scared off two previous companions. But Charlotte has worked for her share of cantankerous bosses and starts a tenuous relationship with Riona. One thing I really liked about this story was the story-within-a-story. Riona comes into possession of her parents love letters to each other. Charlotte and Ardan Lanigan work together to help solve the mystery of his grandparents’ love story. Riona is living with Ardan after breaking her hip and needing someplace to recuperate. The wrinkle in the love story of Charlotte and Ardan comes in the form of Felicity. She was in love with Ardan’s brother Ciaran while Ardan was in love with her. When she shows up in Peregrine, Charlotte and Ardan as well as Ciaran and Bliss must come to terms with a very delicate issue.
As with the author’s other books in this series, I really enjoyed the characters. There were timing issues that went against my logical thinking, but all in all an enjoyable read. Just as in another series of Tess Thompson, she introduces characters that I hope will have their own book. Blue Midnight featured Kevan Lanigan and Blythe Heywood. Blue Moon was about Ciaran Lanigan and Bliss Heywood (sister of Blythe). Blue Ink is about Ardan Lanigan and Charlotte Wilde (former assistant to Bliss Heywood). There is still Teagan Lanigan, sister to the Lanigan brothers and Moonstone and Sam that perhaps we will find out more about in future books. In the meantime, this book will be released in late January. Order your copy now so you can learn more about this fascinating family from Idaho.
I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
Thompson has found a clever way of giving double the pleasure and twice the heart. Blue Ink is a love story wrapped in a mystery. When circumstance finds a young woman searching for a new direction, fate hands her a most intriguing prospect. Charlotte Wilde is working her way back from a major disappointment. Broke and in need of a distraction, she finds more than bargained for when a cranky old woman and her son enter her life. Caught in the middle of an unpredictable attraction and an age old mystery, Charlotte and heart are about to learn that it’s the surprises in life that make the experience worthwhile. A pleasureful masterpiece of storytelling.
Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me to read an ARC of the latest book in the Blue Mountain Series. Blue Ink does not disappoint. Heartwarming, sweet, funny and uplifting. Just what the world needs right about now. Tess Thompson writes with her heart and soul and that is on display on every page. I dare you not to love Charlotte ! And Mrs. Lanigan, what a great character. I adored her. Grab a cup of coffee and sit in a comfortable chair, once you start this book you will not want to put it down. If you haven’t read any of the books in this series, now is a great time to start. This book is perfect in every way……………………
Blue Ink returns us once again to Peregrine, Idaho, home of the Lanigan brothers. This Blue Mountain book is about Ardan Lanigan, the last of the three brothers to find his soulmate.
Peregrine is a very small town full of quirky, colorful residents, the quirkiest being Moonstone, the owner of the town’s only inn. Moonstone can read minds and predict future happenings, such as finding your soulmate or dark events looming. She is very important in Arden’s journey.
This book was full of mystery and I loved it! There were long lost letters, mysterious deaths, and strange coincidences that kept me riveted to the story. I believe that we all have a soulmate, and Tess Thompson brings that to Blue Ink as the story of Ardan Lanigan and Charlotte Wilde unfolds.
Long after you turn the last page of Blue Ink you will be thinking about the Lanigan family. Charlotte Wilde is an amazing, strong and beautiful person, the kind of person you look for in a best friend. Ardan is kind, strong, and someone I would turn to if I needed advice or a shoulder to lean on. I loved everything about this wonderful book and I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed!
Author Tess Thompson is a force to be reckoned with! She has the ability to take fictional characters and turn them into individuals who pull you into their lives, tell you their story and make you love them without blinking an eye!
Blue Ink is the third book in the Blue Mountain series, but can be read as a stand alone. This story is about Charlotte Wilde, a woman who is down on her luck and nearly broke after her most recent break up and her first published book became a flop. In desperate attempt to salvage her life, she agrees to come and take care of Mrs. Lanigian.
When she arrives at the Lanigan family compound her world is turned upside down.
This is a heartwarming and beautiful story of family, friendship, overcoming your fears and fate. It will be a book you wont want to put down!
What a refreshing surprise to read a romance book with some mystery and substance to it instead of the same ole predictable stories.. I was entertained to read the mystery behind the letters and enjoyed that part of the story very much.. it’s nice to read something with some substance to it.. like Charlotte taking care of the elder Mrs Lanigan and the conversations and bickering going on between the two of them and how they spoke to each other, I found myself laughing out loud.. And really enjoying their conversations.. the highlight of the story for me.. I was pleased to see some faith incorporated into the story too..I think this is my favorite book of this series..
