Blue Girl On A Night Dream Sea
By: Ginny Fite
*REVIEW*
Ginny Fite is new to me, and Blue Girl On A Night Dream Sea is certainly a unique imaginative story. Two women, Elena and Hena, are worlds and time apart, yet they are inextricably linked through time for reasons not immediately apparent. Things become complicated yet clearer as the story progresses. The differences are intriguing from one time to another, and the author does an excellent job of weaving these women together in clever and unusual ways. I won’t rehash the plot here, but I will say this story is worth the time spent reading for its strange, compelling and fascinating plot. I recommend for something different and well written. I always enjoy the discovery of a new author!
Blue Girl on a Night Dream Sea is my first introduction to Ginny Fite’s writing. I thought it was pretty good. I was interested in meeting Elena and Hana. They were intriguing women from different eras and centuries apart and have had their own hardships and heart aches. They are drawn into visions that they have to figure out what they mean. The story is full of action packed adventure and thrilling they left me guessing as to what was going to happen next and wondering where the author was taking me on this thrilling ride. It is mostly captivating that made me want to keep reading and turning the pages. However, there were a few areas that did slow the pace down a bit but quickly picked back up again.
I enjoyed Blue Girl on a Night Dream Sea. I thought Miss Fite’s writing style was unique and found it refreshing to read something a little different. It is perfect example as why readers should go outside their comfort zone and read something new. It is definitely worth it at times with this book included. I am happy I gave it a chance. I am sure other readers would be to. I am giving it three and a half stars. It is a good story that it is worth reading and not be missed. I liked it and would like to read more by this author in the future. I am sure she has more really good tales to tell.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
As an author myself, I am always impressed when I read a book where the storyline occurs in two different times. It’s challenging to keep a smooth flow back and forth between past and present so that the reader stays glued to the pages. In Blue Girl on a Night Dream Sea, author Ginny Fite has accomplished this with ease.
We follow the stories of two women from very different times who are strong, intelligent and determined to do what is right while staying true to themselves. For Elena in the present, we begin with her diving into a terrorist situation as a highly skilled part of a special forces unit. It’s worst case scenario with the city under attack in many areas and countless civilians losing their lives. She along with many others do what they can to save as many as they can. Elena cuts through the smoke screen of activities to realize what the terrorist’s ultimate goal is. As she works to stop this threat, a bomb goes off. While her body lies unconscious in the hospital, her spirit travels back in time. She has a job to do there – protecting Hana.
Hana who lives in the past has been offered up to the king in exchange for the lives of her family and village. No one really tells her what this means, only that she must go to save them. Along the way, detours arrive that muddy the water and as always in that time, a woman is never quite safe from the men who want to use her for their profit or pleasure. And her bright blue eyes – unusual where she lives – mark her as a valuable treasure to own. She does not realize who Elena, nor can she see her. But feels her presence and assumes she is a goddess there to protect her.
How these two story lines come together, is something you’ll just have to find out by picking up a copy. A great read.
