In a period of skyrocketing student loan debt without the promise of high-paying employment, and in an economy in desperate need of skilled tradespeople, many are seeking new paths. Ken Rusk, the “million-dollar ditch digger,” is here to show you that blue-collar trades are a source of pride and that you can—and will—find your version of happiness by pursuing a good old-fashioned craft.
In Blue Collar Cash, Ken shares his insights from over 30 years working in blue collar trades as an entrepreneur, mentor, and life coach. Ken knows from his own experience—first as a young kid digging ditches, and then as the owner of a successful concrete construction business—that working with your hands at a job that takes skill and practice can be monumentally rewarding and life-affirming. Since then, he has built a multi-million-dollar business and gone on to mentor hundreds of employees in how to manage their money and set achievable goals.
Using the stories of those who have discovered lives of comfort, peace, and freedom, Ken creates a step-by-step, interactive guide—including financial planning and savings advice—to creating alternative and realistic routes to success and fulfillment.

I would 10/10 recommend this book to everyone, no matter where they find themselves in life. I am currently in a university program, but I have often questioned if this is the right course of study, why I was pushed to college in the first place, and what other opportunities are out there. Ken’s book sets forth ways in which I can embrace goal-setting and outline a vision for my life and path ahead. I loved reading the stories of other people’s life paths coupled with real-world statistics of our supply-demand driven economy. I have been and will continue recommending this book to my family and friends!
This was the most impactful read I’ve had in 2020. So fitting for a time in which many people in the world are worried about the stability of their careers. Whether your goal is to finish an apprenticeship, learn a skill, climb the corporate ladder, or just simply provide for yourself or your family – I guarantee you finish that last page inspired to get started investing in yourself and your future. I’m 28 years old, I’ve watched countless friends graduate college just to find themselves making $30,000 in a career that barely pays for their student loans. I believe that we were pushed to believe that college was the only way to make it big and that’s just not true for everyone. This book will change your mind, and potentially your life. There is untapped potential for young men and women in the blue collar field and this book battles the misconception that your life will be lesser if you choose this path.
There’s power in creating a clear vision. If you’ve ever felt stuck on a path because it’s “what you’re supposed to be doing”, read this book and create the world you want, one step at a time. It’s possible in ways you wouldn’t expect. After all, it’s written by a man who became a millionaire, all starting with digging ditches.
This book is a must for anyone who wants or needs a clear vision to create their own definition of success. It really puts a new meaning to “What makes you happy?” Blue Collar Cash gives you real life tips and advice on how to create your own Comfort, Peace, and Freedom through personal growth and mindset.
I not only have gained knowledge from Ken’s book but have passed on the information to others!
Mr. Rusk does a great job of motivating and illustrating. He motivates you to take the jump you’ve been thinking about and he illustrates how to make it successful. Lots of great information here about building a new career, planning finances, and accomplishing goals.
It’s great to read someone who advocates that the the Blue Collar lifestyle can yield unlimited possibilities and financial success. As someone who mentors many young people in my professional life, it’s powerful to have a role model to point to to highlight the myriad paths available to comfort, peace, and freedom (Ken’s 3 values, and who doesn’t want those?!). Blue Collar Cash guides readers on the path towards living a successful and fulfilling life they love. Highly recommend.
Blue Collar Cash by Ken Rusk is absolutely needed in 2020 and I will tell you why!
The book explores Ken’s rich career history to forgoing college to creating a lucrative, entrepreneurial career in ditch digging and fulfilling his life’s mission to earn Comfort, Peace, and Freedom!
The reason why this book is needed in 2020 is because 1) I think most people are afraid to get their hands a little dirty 2) they are struggling to find a job amidst this global pandemic but aren’t willing to pursue opportunities that have presented themselves which may consist of some hard labor and 3) my favorite point is, yes – this book speaks true to Ken’s career as a blue collar ditch digger but I found a deeper meaning. Regardless of what you do – have a blue collar mentality. No ego, show up before anyone else and leave after everyone else, respond to a task by going the extra mile, set goals, visualize your future, and ultimately be persistent and resilient throughout the journey!
This book is for all ages! Whether you’re mid-career looking for a change of pace, in your late teens trying to find your path or approaching retirement, this book has amazing value for any reader in any situation. It can be used as a helping guide for generations to come!
Ken is doing an amazing thing with the sales from this book and donating them all to Make-A-Wish to help sick children’s dreams come true!
Blue-Collar Cash is refreshing – The usual “how to make six figures and get your life completely together in a month” is so tiring. This book isn’t that…because it’s realistic. It will show you how you can live a comfortable, peaceful, and freedom filled life in a career that you have a passion for. This kind of life is not easy to acquire, but Ken does a great job breaking it down to a simple perspective.
Through the life stories of Ken, his friends, and others he has met along the way, the book does an amazing job keeping you engaged emotionally while teaching invaluable lessons. I’m still young in my career and no, it’s not blue-collar, but I would highly recommend this book to anyone in any phase of life or career field.
It DOES NOT scream, “You have to work blue-collar to find success!”, but rather shows that no matter the path you choose next, you can be successful. I know I’ve been impacted by this book and I’m sure anyone that reads it will be too.
