I have already read this twice. Really like the main character—she’s someone I would really like. Great story. Really like how the story shows the back story—why the characters act the way they do.
First time reading a book by this author. Great storyline and excellent characters, especially Pippa and Seth. The author did a very good job writing these two characters. Looking forward to reading the next book in her series.
Intelligent and engaging writing left me in awe of this author. The plot, characters, the town, all of it swept me away. The dynamic between Pippa and Seth felt realistic and grounding on one another’s level making this a relatable, albeit fantisical, relationship. This is a book I will read again!
Wonderful
This story keeps on your toes from the time Poppa leaves Kentucky, to the twist and turns of her job with Seth & his son Chad. Couldn’t put it down.
Pippa gets fired from her job as a nurse manager in a hospital. She has an abusive boyfriend and decides that now is the time to get away from him. She moves from Kentucky to California where her best friend lives and finds a job with a reclusive millionaire Seth Wyatt who is divorced and has custody of his six year old handicapped son. He is a businessman and a writer.
The entire town hates Seth and Seth hates everyone in the town but he owns several businesses in town which presents a problem.
Pippa gets involved with both the business and the son. For someone who was so abused by her boyfriend, she certainly has the guts to stand up to Seth when it comes to how he is handling his son and the knowledge as a nurse of how to take care of him.
I found that the interactions between Pippa and Seth got a little repetitive and boring after a while. However, I stuck with the story and as it moved along it got better as it explained the reasons behind Seth‘s problems and how he slowly came around and of course fell in love with Pippa.
I loved how Pippa interacted with the son and helped him become a happier child. I thought the elrment of mystery about who was trying to hurt Seth was a little weak, and some of the story was a little implausible but all in all I liked Pippa’s character and the general concept of the story.
Enjoyed reading this, very good read.
I greatly enjoyed this book by Patricia Rice. I have read several of her books, and this one rates right up at the top for me. I enjoyed the development of and changes in the characters throughout the story. A good romantic read!
I just loved this book. Strong characters…romantic!
It’s rare that I read a book all in one sitting, but I could not put this down. All the characters grab you right from the start. Pippa and Seth, his son Chad… even Billy, the psycho cop. Riveting!
This the story Pippa and Seth, whose personalities couldn’t be further apart. Pippa is one of those upbeat people, that sees the best in every situation. It’s amazing Pippa is so positive, as when we first meet her, she is in major transition mode. Her mother has recently died, she just got fired and just ended an abusive relationship with her jerk ofa boyfriend. She takes a new position across the country as a nurse/nanny to a spoiled 6 year old boy, whom was paralyzed in a car accident as a baby. The accident still haunts his father, Seth. Pippa also has the role of personal assistant to Seth, a reclusive author of horror stories and also a successful, but not well liked business man. He is very grumpy and over-protected of his son, Chad. Within a few days, Pippa has taken over his life. First, she thinks a little boy needs to experience live, have friends, and play and swim like any other little boy. It takes awhile before Seth warms up to Pippa and the two share some very emotional scenes, especially when Chad gets seriously ill. In-between everything else, someone is after Seth or Pippa or both of them. This story will keep your interest, and eventually you will warm-up to Seth.
I liked the storyline in this book, but these authors should warn their readers that there are sexual situations…I did not appreciate that.
Easy read.
I like all of Patricia Rice Books.. I like the way she writes.
I loved the characters and the story line. However, I prefer romantic suspense that is less explicit.
I read this on vacation and enjoyed it. I liked the characters.
Very enjoyable. Great humor.
Even though this book was a romantic predictable happy ever after it had a new approach to it and I throughly enjoyed it
good book
Truly a “beauty and the beast” story…
I’m a fan of Patricia Rice, having read lots of her books. Although this is different from her stories of historical romance and magic, it is unique and another winner.
