Another wonderful book in the John Jordan series of books. The topic of white police officers killing innocent black people and the social implications of this explosive issue. The characters are well crafted complete with strengths and weaknesses and engaging personalities. The writing was well done with a quick, smooth flowing storyline. The mystery was interesting with several viable suspects, interesting subtle clues, twists, surprises, danger, action and suspense. The narrative allowed the reader insight into solving the mystery and environment in which the story takes place. The dialogue and the character interactions were interesting. The mystery was well done and explores one of society’s traumatic issues.
Deep…
I used to really like the John Jordan series, but the more I read the less I like them.
Is there some reason Anna has to be so needy? The only character in this book that I like is Merrill.
Excellent thriller.
The story starts out a little slow but soon you are pulled into a very realistic world of politics and social issues with some interesting twists and turns. I would highly recommend this book as the characters are very believable and it is a page turner.
Sorry, didn’t hold my interest.
Not his best work.
I love all John Jordan novels.
This one was a little disappointing in that John is still stuck on past deeds and to me his faith is getting in the way of being able to deal with his job. I found it to be one of the more ponderous stories on the series. John may be getting to the end of his run. I love the series but it may be time to move on.
The author has lived much of the life that his main character gets involved with.
He makes his novels realistic.
Michael Lister continues to out-do himself; with over 20 books in the John Jordan series, you’d expect them to become stale ~ but, NO!!! Each one is as riveting as the last ~ in fact, I think they’re getting better!!!! Who wouldn’t love a recovering alcoholic battling his demons as both a prison chaplain and sherrif’s investigator? {Really!!} Read then all to follow John’s ongoing journey ~
To much opinion had to skip a lot
Very intriguing!!
Have read all his books they’re great!
A disappointing book from an author whom I like. The politics and positions of the main character, some of which I agree with, overwhelmed the story of looking for the person(s) seeking to kill her. Then the whole thing became chimerical when it turned out that the main character was manufacturing the illusion of being targeted.
Awesome!
Quick read that keeps you on edge of your seat so to speak.
I missed a few intervening books of the series so I was surprised to find John going on and on about his alcoholism. Could do without that. Otherwise a great book, can’t say I completely agree about the subject matter, but that’s OK.
Love his characters, story lines, and message of faith.
Lister is the master! Great read.
