Did you know flannel can be deceivingly sexy?I’m Charlotte, and if blogging and devoting my life to fashion has taught me anything, it’s that flannel was never a good choice.Turns out, I was wrong. So very wrong. The first time I met Elijah he told me I was insane and I called him a lunatic.Good times. Then when he came to my rescue, like a knight dressed in flannel, I had to eat my words. … in flannel, I had to eat my words. Apparently, not all country folk are serial killers’ intent on feeding you to their pigs. I know right, I was shocked too!
Never in a million years did I imagine myself lusting after a dead sexy, flannel-clad, llama farmer. There’s no way it would ever happen. But he’s determined to change my mind.
And I think, I might just let him.
**Please note the Awkward series is written by an Australian Author, in Australian english. As such you may assume there are some spelling error within, however it’s just how we spell things down under. xox

This is a swoony, ridiculously funny, low angst sweet story of a llama farmer and a blogger. Charlotte has endometriosis, is on a self-imposed celibacy journey, and avoids romantic relationships. Elijah wants a relationship but has not had any time while he was running the family farm and taking care of his brothers. Several accidental meetings involving vehicles put Charlotte and Elijah in each other’s orbits and the chemistry only gets more intense the more time they spend together. This is not a romance that evokes deep feelings, rips out your heart causing an ugly cry before it puts you back together. Nevertheless this is a great read with well written characters who grow.
Haha, the second book in this series is every bit as funny as the first! Laugh out loud moments and one liners abound!
Charlotte is not looking for a relationship, not since the last one ended so epically. She suffers from Endometriosis and no man can ever understand just what she goes through half of every month. Or can they? Now she has met a sexy farmer who is stealing her heart whether she wants him to or not. However, he has a “side piece” name Delilah the Llama who may or may not be jealous of Char!
Elijah has been taking care of his brothers since the death of their parents ten yrs earlier. He’s doing just fine until a firecracker from the city kicks him in the junk! He will do whatever it takes to win her over, even figuring out how to care for her when she is dealing with her disease.
These two are meant for each other, check this book out today!
Charlotte’s book is not the laugh fest that Reagan’s was but it had a more informative story line. I liked how she learnt to trust and accept help. I was warmed by how he took the time to learn about her condition. And swooned when he came around with ideas for helping her cope with her endometriosis.
2nd book of the Awkward Series. Such a fun read, with great characters and a LLAMA!! Loving this series!!!
This was a fun read. Totally loved Charlotte and Elijah together.
REVIEW: 5/5
Blue Beaver is the second book in the Awkward Series. This is the story of Reagan best friend from Pink Bits, Charlotte and Elijah. When Charlotte is having a flare up from endometriosis, she is craving sweets from a place a hour away. As she gets out of her car, she almost gets hits. A sexy, grumpy, blue eye man starts yelling, saying she is insane. Later on, when she is leaving with her box of treats her car breaks down, Elijah is her knight coming to help her. She can’t believe how kind Elijah and his brother are when she has another flare up. She gives Elijah her number, even though she doesn’t do relationships, because of the demon living in her beaver.
This is one of those books that I can relate. This part of the book, hit home for me:
“Having a debilitating yet invisible disease is the worst. For one, people think I’m making up the constant horrendous pain I live with. Why would anyone do that?”
Right there, explains my life the past 19 years, even though I do not suffer from endometriosis, but another painful chronic disease. I related so much with Charlotte. I’ve actually lived in her shoes. Elijah is the sweetest, compassionate man that I have read in a long time, dealing with an illness. The supporting characters Elijah brothers, Juda and Asher, made me wish I had brothers like them (all sisters in this family). This story was very near and dear to my heart. I recommend this whole hearty. With that being said I can’t not wait to read the next book. I’m hoping to see more of Juda and Asher. Their stories have peeked my interest.
Absolutely loved this book. Elijah and Charlotte are a couple everyone can relate to and hope to be like.
I, of course, was immediately hooked on their story and could not put it down. I can sympathize with Charlotte’s character and her “lady issues” and thought JB Heller did a wonderful job in that area. I loved Charlotte from Pink Bits and was really anxious to get her story. Let me say that our amazing author did not disappoint! Elijah is definitely swoon worthy, especially the way he talks to Delilah. Lol. Too cute. You get it all in their story, tons of humor, chemistry and tension, and an adorable animal. A must read!!
Blue Beaver is a romantic comedy about Charlotte who lives her life in pain half the month due to her endometriosis. It’s also about Elijah whom has been taking care of his family since he was 18 and hasn’t been interested in women in years. When these two meet for the first time Elijah almost kills Charlotte and their interaction is filled with intensity we do not see coming. Their second encounter was filled with drama when Elijah comes to Charlotte’s rescue. From that point on Elijah pursues Charlotte at every turn until she gives into his caring heart and rocking body. With Charlotte having her walls up and keeping people away because of her health issues it makes for a lonely existence. Until Elijah and her world is shaken up along with his. Elijah must find a way to convince Charlotte that he is the man for her.
I told you how the story goes but the in between parts had the over dramatics scenes and comedy that just didn’t quite hit it mark sometimes. I love the barbs at the Charlotte’s time of the month and the chemistry. I love that it is a quick read with a band of characters that can make you laugh some of the time. Charlotte was a ball of drama and Elijah is the sweetheart who wants to put up with her. I am not a fan of characters being over dramatic so this was one where it kind of took over the scenes for me. I like Elijah though because he is the man we always dream we want but can never find. I am being honest here but I didn’t get too much background from the characters and I would have loved that the most. It was just missing a few things with this story and it was a little lukewarm to me.
*I read an ARC and this is my honest review*
What happens when a city gal means a pure country boy, one hilarious book!! I loved the lightness and comedy aspect of this story that I literally couldn’t stop giggling like a dumb ass lol but after reading Pink Bits wild horses couldn’t have kept me away from Blue Beaver. The complete opposites that are Elijah and Charolette worked perfectly ok this book and the banter between was exactly what I’ve wanted to read for a while but few authors in my opinion can do write but JB Heller is one of them.
I voluntarily reviewed a advanced readers copy of this book
A fun paced novel, that also deals with heavy issue.
this novel, has you laughing out, touches your heart, and swooning.
The characters are fun and relatable, I love their difference and quirks.
What an amazing book. A must read!
Blue Beaver is the second book in this romantic comedy series and having laughed until I cried reading Pink Bits, I couldn’t wait for this release.
Charlotte is without doubt the perfect friend for Reagan, from Pink Bits, we get to know her more intimately in this book and I love her sense of humour too. She’s not as zany as Reagan, which in a way is good , however she is just as caring and supportive as a friend. Elijah is a wonderful character and one I easily related to and liked. He has a depth that really shines as he befriends Charlotte.
The way this is written is like a breath of fresh air, light and fun. Great expressions are found throughout this book and oh the descriptive names are so good. Delilah needs a special mention too, such a naughty character.
Great ending! I couldn’t think of a better way to finish this short story.
This novel killed me, I can’t even. I haven’t laughed my butt off so much as what I did reading this. Blue Beaver was an absolute delight to read.
We meet both Elijah and Charlotte in this epic story.
Charlotte’s the city chic.
Elijah the country boy.
Absolute complete opposites.
So you can only imagine what happens when these two meet in the unlikeliest of circumstances.
I can only describe it as….
Quirky meets sensible.
Cheeky meets straight and narrowed.
It’s absolute hilarity and you guys will love them both just like I did.
A read full of LOL moments, heartbreaking moments, breathtaking scenes that took my breath away.
I loved the lightness to it, but I also fell hard for the reality of the way it revealed with so much detail one disease that debilitates so many. It incorporated perfectly within this novel. It was an eye opener of epic proportions done in such a way that you can’t help but laugh at it, but also be very sympathetic to it.
In all honesty this novel was perfect in every way.
If sitting down and losing yourself in a quirky, light, fun loving read is your thing then definitely don’t look past Blue Beaver. I kid you not it will literally brighten your day, just as it did mine.
And lastly….Delilah, you’ve won my heart!
5 stars
She’s boycotting men. Why?? Well if you ask her finding someone who can love and support her while dealing with a chronic illness isn’t gonna happen so why risk her heart. That’s before she was almost ran over by the guy with the llama farm. Yup you read that right. He’s a farmer. She’s a city girl. It’s not a long read but it packs a wallop and yes you will laugh and then you will share her pain. It’s a great read and this author does this well. These two are socially in different arenas and it’s fun watching them get to know each other and lend the unexpected support. While it has it’s serious overtones because of course endo is nothing to laugh at and neither is finding someone who can and is able to deal with someone who fights chronic pain. What is fun is watching these two from different backgrounds and a vengeful llama make a go.
