The road to self-discovery leads Maverick Kensington deep into the heart of New Orleans. The colorful characters, beautiful scenery and a hot mess of a woman he finds along the way offer him the perfect place to reinvent himself. The French Quarter and Blue Bayou are exactly the change of pace he’s looking for, helping him escape the soul-sucking work he does for his father’s company.Carys … company.
Carys Matthews is young and inexperienced. Having her family’s hotel dropped in her lap after her mother’s untimely death, she’s struggling to keep her head above water and keep the hotel’s doors open. She doesn’t have time for relationships, but Maverick Kensington is worth an exception. Besides, his stay is temporary and a fling never hurt anyone, right?
His passion and business know-how is exactly what she needs.
Her carefree spirit is what he wants.
Their whirlwind relationship is one for the books until truths are untold and assumptions are made. Everything comes to a screeching halt just when they were getting to the good part.
There’s always been a saying around the hotel: eventually, everyone comes back to the Blue Bayou. Will Maverick be the exception?

Jiffy Kate are a new to me authors and I was not disappointed.
Eventually everyone comes back to the Blue Bayou.
Maverick Kensington needs a break from his life when he stumbles upon a small historic hotel and its gorgeous owner. Carys Matthews is stunned when this man walks into her hotel, even more stunned with much this man is willing to help her.
Carys is such a loveable character. She is so down to earth and real. It is so easy to connect with her. She works hard at keeping the hotel running in memory of her family. Mav, well what else can you say about him? I was crushing on him from the very beginning.
The secondary characters in this story are also fantastic, which I find rare for a lot of stories. George and Mary are sweet and really like parental figures for Carys, CeCe and Shep are great friends and Jules may be my favorite, I mean, how can you not want to be his best friend and hang out with him?! Some of the things he said would have my dying of laughter.
This story is sweet, it is steamy, and it will make you laugh. I can’t wait to read more from Jiffy Kate in the future.
BLUE BAYOU (French Quarter Collection, #1) . . . Did you ever find such a jewel? I was or was not ready for the enjoyment that I got out of this one. I loved Carys from the start. She was spunky and determined. She loved the legacy left to her by her grandparents and her mother. She was just a little lost on how to make the legacy more of what it was and better at the same time.
Then there was Maverick. He had morals. I could not say that for Mr. Kensington. Grandson Maverick was much more like Grandpa Maverick. Grandpa Maverick left much of himself behind in his journals and most of all in his grandson.
There was much for me to love here. The Blue Bayou, the French Quarter, the characters primary (Carys & Maverick) and secondary (CeCe, Jewel, Shep and more) and most of all the world created by Jiffy Kate’s words. I could see the Blue Bayou. I could see the quarter and surrounding areas. I love that level of imagery.
I owe thanks to Loretta Rawlings & Eric Michael Summerer. They gave a new layer of dimension to the characters. They gave that extra to the characters through narration of the story, tone, pitch, and variation.
*****
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Jiffy Kate. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
This was a great quick read! Every time I read a Jiffy Kate book I think to myself why has it taken me so long to read this! This book captures my attention from the very beginning. I loved Maverick and Carys. I also loved that there was no drawn out unnecessary drama. I would absolutely recommend this book!
5 stars for Blue Bayou by Jiffy Kate. I am a big fan of Jiffy Kate. These two really know how to write a romance. I would consider this a romance with some comedy thrown in for fun. Maverick and Carys are great characters. Carys is trying to keep her families hotel a float when in comes Maverick. Maverick was trying to get away from his father and everything that goes along with it. He wanders into Carys hotel and starts to help her with her struggling hotel. This is a great story about awesome characters. I laughed at times, and even had some tears. I would recommend reading this book for a light easy read.
This was another great Jiffy Kate book. I love New Orleans as a setting, the rich culture and history of the city suck me in every time, and this book was no exception. You have a rich, handsome real estate developer wanting a change in his life, and an overwhelmed, unprepared woman just trying to keep her head above water. I could completely relate to Carys on the level of mess she is, that’s pretty much me. And Maverick, who doesn’t want a hot guy that can fix everything, and charm you while doing it? I want Jules to be my friend, he seems like he could break me out of my shell a little. I have to admit that I liked that this book didn’t end in marriage and pregnancy. I am married and I have kids, but sometimes it seems like the ultimate HEA in romance novels are marriage and kids, when that’s not an HEA for everyone. It’s ok to not want either and just be happy where you are in life. Over all this was a sweet, swoony story, with a little bit of heartbreak and great characters, definitely recommend.
Great Story, Great Listen Delightfully Entertaining & Hot
Blue Bayou
By: Jiffy Kate
Narrated by: Loretta Rawlins, Eric Michael Summerer
I thoroughly enjoyed this great book, it is well written with interesting storylines that captivated my mind from start to end. I just adored Carys, she has a great personality and I could relate to her all her clumsy mishaps, they were funny and cute. I loved her determination to maintain her family tradition and the “Blue Bayou” and her dedication to George and Mary. Maverick trying to get away from it all goes to New Orleans for a vacation and finds himself in the Blue Bayou and Carys immediately falls for him, literally fall. He helps her up and realizes what a mess of a woman she is and he wants to know more about her. I liked the chemistry between them, they just clicked. Finding out who is Dad is and what he is all about I was waiting for the shoe to drop and things to go array. Which they do for Carys and Maverick. I was sad when Maverick left the Blue Bayou and was hoping things would be set straight. And it was said, “Eventually, everyone comes back to the Blue Bayou”. I highly recommend this story, there is so much to like, the characters, their drama, the sweet moments, funny ones, angsty ones and the sweet romance. Oh and a shout out to Jules, everyone needs a Jules in their life. This is my first book by Jiffy Kate and it will not be my last, they are a creative duo, their story is entertaining and enjoyable. Thanks for this great story!
I listened to the Audiobook version, Loretta Rawlins and Eric Michael Summerer are wonderful narrators and voice performers. They bring the characters to life, give each their own voice and personality. They project the emotions of the characters and the drama of the story in their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen
Blue Bayou was a really sweet, engaging read and I loved every minute of it!
My first read by the Jiffy Kate duo but it won’t be my last if this great wee story is anything to go by!
I loved the main characters, Carys and Maverick. From their first meeting they had a spark and attraction and the slow play of the story and the building of their relationship worked well.
The descriptions, location setting and images painted all made me feel like I was in the story with this pair. I’m planning a trip to NO next year and I can’t wait to see if it’s a fabulous as the authors had me picturing!
A great supporting cast, a twist and a little angst (but not too much) and a lot of character made this a solid 4* read that I’d recommend you take a look at.
This book was so good!! I don’t even know why it took my so long to finish it but I loved it.
This book takes you into New Orleans and you get to see what the land of Maridi Gras is like. It was just a magical place to be.
Carys has a big responsibility of taking over the family hotel in the heart of New Orleans. She has no idea what she is doing things seem to go from bad to worse when a sexy stranger comes in and turns her world upside down she wants to have a fling and fun.
Maverick is running away from his job and his Dad not to mention the family business. He escapes to his favorite place not wanting to tip his dad off he chooses to find a different hotel. He stumbles into the Blue Bayou and finds a magical place he never wants to leave.
Carys and her hot mess express has captured his attention and he wants more than a fling but when his work collides with his personal life what will he do?
I loved this story!! I can’t wait to read more from Jiffy Kate.
This is just the second book I’ve read from this author and I’m wondering why I didnt find them earlier. Blue Bayou takes us to New Orleans and all its ambiance and culture. Two characters, Maverick and Carys, couldn’t be further apart in background, but both dealing with family legacy. However, nothing can stop chemistry when it comes crashing in regardless of the messes that ensue.
The rich descriptions of the location and city life bring this romance to life page after page. And this author duo know how to right some scenes worthy of needing a fire extinguisher! I can still hear the N’orlens accents coming through in my head. Another good one!
Carys and Maverick meet by fate. A cute read, great characters, lots of steam and Jules was so cute!! A beautiful description of New Orleans, makes me want to go back!!
Holy book hangover, Batman! I absolutely adored every aspect of this story; from the charmingly authentic settings to the crazy chemistry between flawed but absolutely lovable characters this book was Everything!
Wow!! Wow!! Wow!! BLUE BAYOU is Beautifully written and Entertaining that I want to go to New Orleans (Never been)!! Jiffy Kate is a New Author for me and She Had me Intrigued from the Very Beginning and never a Dull moment page after page!! Carys and Maverick’s storytelling was So much Adventure and Passion that the Sexual chemistry between the two characters are Off the Charts Hot! Get Ready for a Magical Ride into the Blue Bayou!!!
I love strong women characters and Carys is no exception. I love that her family legacy, the hotel Blue Bayou, is a little old school. It’s charming, a little outdated, but run with love by Carys and her “family.” Maverick is a team player for family business, too, but he wants to make his own mark on the world. Yet, he wants to go back a couple of generations and do it without corporate greed. I love that he just wants to help Carys and get his hands dirty. He helps her to believe in herself, while trying to sweep her off her feet. It was a swoon fest!
This is the first book I have ready by Jiffy Kate and it didn’t disappoint! Blue Bayou is a sweet southern tale of two people from different walks of life that can’t fight the attraction they have. Maverick is running from everything his life has turned into with his fathers business and Carys is a hot mess trying to make it in a business she’s known all her life but never had the reigns of before. The chemistry is instant, the misunderstanding huge, but the love is there.
The way the author writes these characters you can’t help but love them. The book really puts you in the New Orleans feel and you can’t help but want to go down to the Blue Bayou! I can’t wait to read more from these characters and this author!
I really enjoyed this story. Carys was a hot mess that drove me crazy here and there. But I did like the chemistry between her and Maverick.
This is a really sweet book. Carys is now the owner of the Blue Bayou since her mother left it to her. She’s trying to make heads or tails on how to run the hotel business. She hasn’t really been taught but it’s been her life for a long time and with the help of Mary and George they will make it happen. Maverick is passing by to get away from his dad. He is part of a buying, selling and making money on businesses that are failing. He had no clue that when he walk into the Blue Bayou that he wanted to stay there and help it out with repairs and help save and protect Carys and the Blue Bayou. Things are going great until a misunderstanding happens and Carys sends Maverick away and to go back home. Then learning that Carys isn’t doing as well as she thought and realizing that Maverick wasn’t doing anything to hurt her but to help save her place that holds her heart and family.
Blue Bayou by Jiffy Kate is a well written sweet romance story. I really enjoyed this book. The chemistry between Carys and Maverick was off the charts. The author did an amazing job making you feel like you were at the Blue Bayou. I highly recommend this book.
Was my first book by Jiffy Kate, loved the in depth history about New Orleans, who doesn’t love New Orleans lol. This won’t be my book I read from these authors, had a hard time putting it down, loved the main characters and even the background characters.
This book was sweet and had a good amount of laughs which I like. The only problem I had was the main characters name, Carys. Each time I read it, I had to stop and correct it in my head. Other that that quirk, I liked it! Maverick is a good man, Jules keeps you laughing. Just enough drama to make better !
Maverick needed a break from his father so he takes a mini vacation that’s when he goes to a hotel and knocks into a beautiful hot mess named carys! Days later he holds a secret and she finds out will that break this undeniable chemistry!
