Every story needs a beginning. The story of Louisiana State Police Detective Cadillac Holland’s legend began with what should have been a simple fugitive case. It’s hard to find a man who doesn’t want to be found, and harder still when you have trouble telling the destruction left in the wake of Hurricane Katrina from the bombed out streets of Baghdad you left behind in an ambush that nearly took … nearly took your life.
Detective Holland is building a reputation for leaving a trail of unintended consequences in his path, but he will always get his man.

Pay Attention Things Are About To Get Real
Apparently, reading during lunch and ignoring others is considered “rude”! But I just had to get to the bottom of this mystery! Detective Holland is set on a case to find a criminal who absconded after a vicious crime. But nothing is ever easy, and the game gets more intricate and dangerous as he investigates. Plenty of forethought went into this mystery-thriller plot. There was an outstanding balance of action and realistic dialogue throughout this story. It had great characters based in New Orleans vivid enough to make me feel as if I was really there. Thanks for this! I would love to go on another investigation with Detective Holland. More please!
This crime mystery was amazing. Thrilling, fun, and suspenseful. Hoping for more stories.
The first in this mystery series introduces “Cadillac”. a gutsy, pound the pavement detective. In his assigned case to catch a fugitive he starts to unravel something more sinister. The setting of Post-Katrina New Orleans and the surrounding cast of characters add life to the story. This page turner is packed with suspense and would thrill any mystery lover.
A fun yet thrilling crime mystery. I loved the main character and the mystery was suspenseful and exciting to read.
Having read one or two of the Cadillac Holland Mystery books, out of order might I add, it was fun to go back tot he beginning to see Detective Holland when he is trying to find his place with the Louisiana State Police. What should’ve just been an easy fugitive find turned into something more than even Cadillac’s superiors even considered. However, this seems to be the case when it comes to Detective Holland. Nothing is ever easy and he has a knack for finding more trouble before he even solves the one mystery assigned to him.
One of the things I really do like about Detective Holland’s character is he doesn’t leave any stone unturned. He’s also not afraid to create or hope he creates a little chaos if it means that getting to the bottom of a case he’s working on. The way this man’s mind works is quite fascinating.
When it comes to the general feel and vibes about this book, I love the author’s attention to details about the city/state and the food that New Orleans is famous for. I remember as a kid going to New Orleans every year and it was always a lively city with food my family and I looked forward to. Definitely makes you want to put everything aside and grab a bowl of gumbo or maybe a po’boy!
4 out of 5 stars
Every story has to start somewhere and this is Detective Cadillac Hollands first case . What should of been a simple case of finding a fugitive is getting harder by the minute . The man just doesn’t want to be found and when you start to rethink bringing him in might get him killed and noone wants to help him out . Just might get him and the man he needs to bring in killed. He will get his man one way or another .
Ok we get to finally see Holland’s first case and how he became such a great detective . Welcome to New Orleans and the case that started it all . Cadillac is a very complex man who spent time in military intelligence and that makes for a detective with some really great instincts . He has a great group of people to help him out through out the case. Tony is his best friend and they were together in Bagdad together . He is really like Cadillac’s sounding board when it comes to figuring everything out.
