This was an unusually different twist on the Three Little Pigs story. I particularly like the story of the first meeting of our main characters, along with the author’s careful use of historical background. This historical fantasy is well written and well told. I found it appealing on multiple levels.
Good story until Daddy lied about Rudolf insisting on leaving. Downhill from there. The ending was awful.
I thought this was a good book and very cleverly done.
The stroyline was great as this author brought it that way.
The characters were great as well and made the story click in my opinion.
I enjoyed the story. This author has the perfect narrator for her stories. I love her voice, it makes you experience the emotions & feelings involved in the story. The author on the other hand is excellent at creating characters that are strong and determined. Excellent story and can’t wait for more.
This is a part of Carlton’s series Romance a Medieval Fairytale and is the re-telling of the classic Three Little Pigs. I went in not really knowing what to expect but loving re-tellings so I was “blown” away at how much I loved this read / listen. First, let me praise the narrator – she has THE perfect voice for fairy tales – smooth and soothing I could listen to her all the time! The actual storyline was fantastic with princes and princesses and a love that stands up to any test. A beautiful tale that gave me all the heart warms you could want in a romance.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a very sweet and funny at times retelling of the three little pigs. The story was well told and the narrator did a good job with the telling. I was sorry to see the hero leave to go home and then the heroine had so many trials to go thru. But in the end everything came together and they vanquished the enemy. I loved it.
I received an advanced reader copy for an honest review.
I really hate to say this but I could not finish. I got to chapter 8 and couldn’t go on. The book was slow and boring. It wasn’t necessarily bad writing in a technical sense. There was a little action but I didn’t care about the characters. I had no empathy, no investment in their lives so to speak. Oh and I know it is fiction but even in the Middle Ages a woman knows when a man is interested; at least in my opinion. There just wasn’t any life to the characters.
An absolutely delightful, adult fairytale. Portia and Rudolf are fabulous, well developed characters. The way in which Demelza Carlton is able to spin this tale is remarkable.
I was provided this book as an ARC by the author; however, the review is my honest opinion.
I am really enjoying this series of fairytale retellings. This is the story of Rudolf and Portia and a love that is meant to be. There is lots of adventure and heartbreak and battles to keep you reading till the end. I look forward to more of these.
