It’s all fun and games until somebody falls in love…
Cookie-baker extraordinaire, Heather Reese, has had one too many rounds of heartache, so she’s sworn off men and prefers to spend her evenings binge-watching game shows. Plus her no-men rule gives her time to focus on her dream come true—Heather’s Cookie Co.—her very own bake shop with an underground following for naughty shaped treats. She refuses to be interested in the hot-shot florist across the street. He is trouble with a capital T. Sexy trouble, but still, a hook-up with Jase is a hard nope.
Desperate to avoid his family’s incessant matchmaking, a fake breakup with the beautiful Heather is just what the florist ordered. If his family believes Heather decimated his heart, they’ll leave him alone. Heather isn’t so keen on the idea, but Jase is determined to make it worth her while. When a pretend breakup becomes the real romance neither was expecting, together they’ll have to decide if it’s finally time to light the fuse on love…

This book is perfectly titled because it BLEW ME AWAY! I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for a crazy grandma character, and Babushka is FANTASTIC!! No spoilers here… You really need to read it to understand all of her wild antics. Jase and Heather’s romance was filled with witty dialogue and just enough drama to make this a page-turner. Five shining stars.
I don’t read a lot of contemporary romance, but this promised comedy, too, and I was in the mood for something light and wanted to actually use some of my Kindle Unlimited before I canceled, so I gave it a try. It’s a charming and well-crafted story with fun characters, and one of the most inventive sex scenes I’ve ever read (let’s just say the man’s bomb-defusing skills came in very useful). I’m also a sucker for interfering old people who don’t mind telling you what’s what, and Babushka definitely qualifies. Recommended for romance readers who enjoy madcap comedy with their love stories. This book made me think of Janet Evanovich, only without the mystery, with more sex, and with way, way more of a resolution. It may belong to a series, but the story is complete.
Great read. Humourus with absolutely amazing characters. Jase and Heather are both a bit broken but together they heal and find themselves again.
Love me a good rom com! 🙂
Fun Heather and Fun Jase are always down for a good time with no need for any relationship status but are actually Damaged Heather and Damaged Jase too hurt to come anywhere close to something serious.
Little white lies and meddling family members- mainly Jase’s grandmother – make things spin out of control. But getting, taking, and keeping control is the fun part.
I love these two together!! Their story is sweet, funny, and romantic…and even made me tear up a bit. It was great!
Flowers and cockies are a sweet combo!
First time in reading this author with still getting excitement when that happens. The story line and the fact he is a ex soldier is what got me to open this one. Jase is a interesting character whom has had alot of events in his life but he has now a place I would not of expected which is part of the interest. Heather is the part in this with that since they are in each others sights you get to see what happens to them. With a bit of heat to this it makes for warm reading with the emotional element also. So when the lie gets turned around this author will have you hooked for sure. Enjoyed from start to finish.
4 stars
Blow Me Away is the second in the Mile High Match series and can be read as a standalone, which I did but I have already bought the other book because I just can’t stand to leave! While I loved Jase and Heather, it was the friend group and Babushka that totally lured me in! Jase’s Babushka is a book unto herself and is ridiculously hilarious but she wouldn’t be nearly as funny without her family to terrorize. She stole the show!
Fantastic, fun and flirty. Blow Me Away blew me away!

I DEVOURED this book! I absolutely fell in love with Heather, Jake, & Babushka! From the moment I started reading I couldn’t put it down. It was so funny, heartwarming, & sweet!! It was my first Christina Hovland book but it definitely won’t be my last!!!
Blow Me Away is the second book in Christina Hovland’s Mile High Matched series of standalone romantic comedies.
What can I say? Ms. Hovland had me at naval bomb disposal technician turned florist. Jase is no stranger to stress, but his family’s expectations and meddling might lead him to do something crazy—like fake a broken heart to get a few weeks reprieve from their matchmaking efforts. When Jase’s 90-year babushka takes revenge on the “ex-girlfriend”, Heather gets her first introduction to the sexy florist’s crazy family. Heather and Jase are lovably flawed characters. However, their relationship and personal baggage are more like steam trunks! Their respective pasts keep getting in the way living life to the fullest, and that was an interesting twist on the usual one-sided relationship history. I appreciated Ms. Hovland’s skill at respectfully presenting a character with PTSD and throwing him into chaotic yet humorous situation.
Ms. Hovland mixes together a heap of sweet and a bit of heat to create a fantastic romance. The story is well paced, and it allows for ample primary and secondary character development. Between crazy babushka and poor Heather constantly being caught in the crosshairs, I couldn’t stop laughing while reading Blow Me Away. I enjoyed this fun installment of the Mile High Matched series, and I can’t wait to see if Heather’s “cockies” make an appearance in future books.
What a fun book! The chemistry between Jase and Heather is undeniable. You know they will end up together, but you have no idea how it’s going to happen. The setting (flower shop and bakery) add to the entertainment. And the dialog is creative and witty. Plus, you get an added bonus – the grandma is quite a character. I definitely recommend this book! Enjoy!
First impressions are everything when it comes to business, but what about when it comes to matters of the heart? Blow Me Away pushes all the right buttons to brighten any day. Hovland spices up the bookshelf by appealing to the heart. Jase and Heather turn a relationship of convenience into a humorous meeting of the heart. Awesome.
When Jase came home from serving, he was no longer the man he was previously. Now he runs his family’s florist shop next to his neighbor, Heather, a premier baker. Heather’s off men right now, thanks to some questionable past choices in men. So that’s why when her gorgeous neighbor, Jase, asks her out, she puts him off, thinking he’s a playboy. But when things (people) intervene, suddenly the two are in a “relationship” that will face a long, bumpy road if it’s to make it to an HEA.
Blow Me Away is a hilarious, sweet rom-com filled with a zany cast of characters (Babushka) that try their best to interfere in Jase and Heather’s fledgling relationship. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, sexy and funny, I highly recommend Blow Me Away.
This is the first book in the Mile High Matched series that I have read. It is well written and you do not have to read the first book to enjoy this one. I will be reading the first book as I liked this one. I found myself smiling and laughing out loud at some of the things that happen in this book. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
I cannot say enough how much I loved this book. I read a lot of romantic comedies and Blow Me Away is probably the funniest one ever.
Jase and Heather are attracted to each other. Easy enough, right? Not when differing views on love, crazy Babushkas, and a meddling family intent on helping Jase find true love get involved.
Christina Hovland did a wonderful job creating multi-dimensional characters. It was nice that their sole purpose wasn’t finding love. Oftentimes characters can fall flat if there is not more to their life. Both Jase and Heather have jobs they enjoy, awesome friends, and even difficult past experiences that have shaped them. Romance and love are a big part of their story, but it’s driven by who they are, what they do, and who is in their lives.
The plot is well paced, and it was nice to see growth in both Jase and Heather. As I said before, this is probably the funniest rom com I have ever read. The scenes with Jade’s Babushka were hilarious! There are also appearances by a number of characters from the first book in the series. I loved getting to catch up with their friends groups!
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
Christina Hovland authors another winner with Blow Me Away. This is a funny and sexy read that I could not put down. The well-defined characters blew me away with their genuineness and humor. This is the second novel from Ms. Hovland’s Mile High Matched series, and it can be enjoyed as a standalone. The first book in the series, Going Down On One Knee, is wonderful as well.
Erotic cookie baker Heather Reese, and florist Jase Dvornakov, are neighboring business owners. Their prior romantic relationships turned out bad, so as a result, they prefer to dwell in their singleness. Then Jase’s eccentric grandmother, or Babushka in Russian, decides to play matchmaker and all bets are off. Heather and Jase fall madly in love and find their forever together, despite a couple of fibs, some family interference and a purposeful (no injuries) van wreck.
This is a humorous romantic read! Heather and Jase are easy to get to know and their sexy times are hot both in and out of the bedroom. Although Jase’s former life disarming bombs for the Navy causes him heartache from time to time, Heather’s presence has a calming effect. Jase’s Babushka steals the show and I could not get enough of her shenanigans. Don’t pass on the opportunity to read this book!

I am loving this series! Jase and Heather’s witty banter and his Babushka had me laughing out loud. Seriously so funny! Everyone needs a Babushka. Blow Me Away has it all – funny, sweet, romantic, steamy, HEA. I can’t wait for Eli’s story. I have a feeling it is going to be epic!
I have a hard time turning down books where the heroine is a baker and I definitely can’t turn down books where the hero is a florist. That alone drew me in, but Heather, Jase and Babushka are such great characters they kept me interested in the story. That and wondering how in the world they were going to deal with whatever Babushka was going to throw at them. She was a blast.

I loved this ROM- COM romance. Jase is interested in Heather the baker across the street and asks her for a date but Heather refuses after coming out of a bad relationship even though she’s attracted to Jase. So when his match making grandmother “babushka” starts setting him up, he tells her he’s suffering from a breakup from Heather. To get revenge for breaking her grandson’s heart, babushka takes her car and totals Heather’s van. They come to a plan to pretend to reconnect their relationship. This starts them exploring their true feelings. Will Jase and Heather reach their HEA? Loved the tongue in check humor, Babushka, Jase and Heather were great characters in this story, and the romance delighted me to the final page. I volunteer to read and review this ARC.
I LOVED Jase’s grandmother!! She is hilarious and you go at your age!! Jase and Heather, two people who try not falling for each other but fate has other plans. You will laugh, you will cry with some steamy part and a book with lots of heart. I loved the first book in this series and I love this one also. I can’t wait for more books.

This is the second book in the series.. Jase and Heather’s story, I hope you are following the series because you get a better understanding of who is who. We had previously met both Jase and Heather in the last story, Heather was one of Claire’s bridesmaid and a best friend. Jase was Beck’s friend. I have to say that I thought he would have been a little more (i don’t know what word I am looking for) more playful is what I am coming up with. What he went thru and how he was surprised me a little, not in a bad way just different. I loved his crazy family, his grandmother was hilarious and awesome. We get a little a little sadness and heartbreak but we get a lot of happiness and laughs..I love catching up with the previous characters, can’t wait for the next one! Grab a copy and Enjoy!
