It’s all fun and games until somebody falls in love…
Cookie-baker extraordinaire, Heather Reese, has had one too many rounds of heartache, so she’s sworn off men and prefers to spend her evenings binge-watching game shows. Plus her no-men rule gives her time to focus on her dream come true—Heather’s Cookie Co.—her very own bake shop with an underground following for naughty shaped treats. She refuses to be interested in the hot-shot florist across the street. He is trouble with a capital T. Sexy trouble, but still, a hook-up with Jase is a hard nope.
Desperate to avoid his family’s incessant matchmaking, a fake breakup with the beautiful Heather is just what the florist ordered. If his family believes Heather decimated his heart, they’ll leave him alone. Heather isn’t so keen on the idea, but Jase is determined to make it worth her while. When a pretend breakup becomes the real romance neither was expecting, together they’ll have to decide if it’s finally time to light the fuse on love…

This is a funny, well-written, entertaining, steamy, fast paced, contemporary romantic comedy novel. It has likable and engaging characters, a strong and capable female protagonist, a sweet, former military male protagonist, a fabulous prom, family drama, unusual cookies, and a happily ever after ending. Babushka’s antics are hilarious! I highly recommend that you access the bonus scenes from the link at the end of the book. They are a great addition to the series. This is the second entry in Ms. Hovland’s outstanding “Mile High Matched” series. Each novel can be enjoyed when read as a stand alone, but they are even better when read in order.
I love Hovland’s writing!
I was expecting a hilarious read and that’s what I got.
It was a delight to read from the first sentence to the last page! His whole family, especially Babushka, are crazy! It is a fun of epic proportions, each chapter an unexpected surprise filled with misunderstood situations, grandma’s weird excapades and penis shaped cookies.
Don’t have a lot to say except that I recommend this book to nayone who loves to laugh during reading!
5 stars.

I’m a huge fan of Christina Hovland’s writing. Blow Me Away is the 2nd book in her Mile High Matched series and it’s just as good as the first one!
You’ll be blow away after reading Blow Me Away!! A great read.
“I’ll be the luckiest man in the world if I get to sleep next to you every night.”
From bombs to flowers. After risking his life for years as an EOD, Jase abandons the army. And sees his marriage reduced to ashes. So what does the newest bachelor make for living? He works at his family’s flower shop. But if it depends on his Babushka, single is a status that he will not keep for long.
Heather has had her share of cocky players. Now, all she wants is to continue in a serious relationship with her phallic-shaped cookies. But the sight of the handsome florist, shirtless and with his sensual dance moves can make this task very difficult.
The book is filled with funny scenes. The scenes starring Babushka are hilarious. The flirtation between Jase and Heather is deliciously sweet, with some lightly spicy scenes. The ideal flavor for a good reading.
But not everything is flowers in Jase’s life. With meetings filled with fights, confusion and lots of vodka, Jase’s family may be a drag on the couple’s happiness.
In addition to much romance and comedy scenes, the author delivers the right amount of drama, which makes us love the characters, cheer for them and their evolution. Overcoming the traumas of the past will be paramount for the couple’s relationship.
Stuffed with great characters, entitled to lunch at the strip club and traumatic but funny scenes at the Casino, Blow Me Away has all the ingredients for a successful recipe. A book to laugh, sigh, and thrill.

I laughed so hard, so many times it was awesome. Jase, poor Jade had his issues but his family were the type to try and help him without his say. Yes they were overbearing and overwhelming but they did have good intentions. Heather, she had been burned many times before and had intentions of never going there again but Jade weaseled his way into her heart. Babushka made me laugh so hard. She was the heart and soul of this family and book. When babushka has a plan or goal she goes all out and it happens whether her family likes it or not. I honestly thought Brek was my man but Jade seriously gave him a run for his money. I liked getting to see Velma and Brek again and now we need Eli’s story.
Laugh out loud funny! I would recommend this to anyone who needs a good laugh and a very sweet love story!
Can a cookie maker and an x marine really fall in love? He has a grandmother who takes revenge on her delivery van when she thinks the cookie baker has broken his heart. He has real issues with PSD and an interfering family. Family drama and interference makes for entertaining reading.
Disclaimer: Over-the-top rom-coms are usually very hit-or-miss for me. But this one is a definite hit!
Though it’s not the first in the series, this is the first book by this author I’ve read. And I want MOAR! Jase and Heather were easy to root for, and I love the crazy supporting cast of friends and family, though Jase’s Babushka really takes the cake (cookie? steak?) on that one.
I can’t say enough about Christina Hovland & this series! This is Jase & Heather’s story & I loved it! You will laugh out loud & Babushka is a riot!! The supporting characters are wonderful too. I got Eli & Marlee’s book from Netgalley as an arc & am so happy I did, it helped me discover this amazing author!! You don’t have to read the books in order but I would recommend it. I highly recommend this book & all of her other ones too!! I’m caught up on this series & ready for the next one!
Jase Dvornakov has left the Navy where he used to disarmed bombs. Now back home in his small town, his Russian family believe it is time for him to find a wife. Owning a florist shop he has begun to ask the cookie lady from across the way out, she has declined each time. Heater Reese is only worried about her cookies and her business, her love life is on the very back burner and as for Jase the flower guy she thinks he is a player. Jase’s bomb is blown to bits when he tells his Babushka that they broke up. The next morning his Babushka comes driving down main street heading right for her pink cookie van, you got it she wrecks it. There the story takes over with Babushka working at putting the two of them together and getting herself into a lot of different situations that his family blames her for. In this story, it is the guy that is having problems and when she walks away he must deal with all that he had not dealt with since returning home, or not get the woman. Babushka keeps this story moving along at a breath neck pace and the story overall is good with good characters. Very much worth the read. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. This book was just adorable. Who wouldn’t love a hot florist veteran? And an insecure baker of erotic cookies? Great, creative pairing by the author. The journey from acquaintance to lovers moved fast with a lot of fun, humor, and indecision about whether they were or were not in a relationship. Babushka was charmingly annoying-bordering on mostly annoying-but some of the other family stuff and senior citizen humor was too much for my taste, but that’s a minor issue. Happy I stumbled across this one and will look for more books by this author.
Brilliant Story & Narration It will Blow You Away!
Blow Me Away
Mile High Matched, Book 2
By: Christina Hovland
Narrated by: Neva Navarre, Lance Greenfield
Christina Hovland delivers another wonderful book in her “Mile High Matched” series. I loved this one as much as I loved the first. The storylines and characters are amazing and realistic, they are ones you can relate to. Heather Reese is the owner of Heather’s Cookie & Co. Bakery, she also volunteers at the senior center and is helping run an event there, a Senior Senior Prom. Jace Dvornakov served in the Navy, he and his team disarmed bombs but when a mission goes bad he returns home to his family a shell of his former self. His tight knit family looked out for him and put him to work running one of the family florists which neighbors Heather’s cookie shop. Heather and Jase also have mutual friends together. Heather is out visiting the local businesses with with Flyers about the prom and looking for more volunteers and donations. I knew I was going to fall in love with the book from the start when Heather sees a shirtless Jace shirtless rocking out while working on flower arrangements. The great banter that comes after he asks her to go out with him and Heather declines then creating a fictitious tale detailing how the relationship is going to go and then end. Jase’s grandmother Babushka is hysterical and often steals the show with her over the top antics and the witty dialogue that comes out of her mouth. She hounds Jase to get married and give her grand babies and is constantly trying to fix him up. To stop her he tells her a white lie about having his heartbroken, which sends her into a tailspin. OMG, Christina Hovland has a brilliant mind she created the most humorous scenes and her descriptive writing had me picturing them in my head. In addition to the great humor there are so many other great moments, dramatic ones, heartfelt ones and romantic ones. I highly recommend this book, it is entertaining and enjoyable, it is the type of book that once you start you do not want to put it down. Thank you for another wonderful book, all the laughs and the emotional rollercoaster ride. Also, love how you portrayed and captured Jase’s family dynamics, I bet there are a lot of people who could relate to them either by personal experience or knows someone who has their very won Babushka. capturing their I am looking forward to the next book in this awesome series.
I listened to the Audible edition, Neva Navarre and Lance Greenfield are talented narrators and voice artists. They bring the characters to life giving them their voice and personality. You can hear how much heart they put into their work as they project the characters emotions and the drama of the story into their performance. They do an amazing job with the dialogue and banter as well as capturing and landing the humor. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen
This is book two of the Mile High Matched series and can be read as a stand alone.
Jase and Heather know each other through mutual friends and end up staging a fake break up for a relationship that never existed. This leads to hi jinks and crazy events that involve Jase’s Babushka. Babushka is force that creates a lot of chaos and scenes so funny that I was rolling with laughter. Heather gets caught in this chaos and eventually she and Jase find their way to each other.
This romantic comedy is along the same lines as those by Pippa Grant or Lili Valente and I really enjoyed it. The characters are well developed, editing is pristine, and secondary characters bring a lot to the story. Jase’s crazy family reminds me a little of a Russian family version of Frankie’s family in Lucy Score’s The Worst Best Man.
I am now completely hooked on this new to me (this week) author, and I will be first in line to read all of her new books.
I want to be Babushka! I love that character. You just never know what is going to happen when the Russian grandma is out and about. And the cockies – everyone should have them in their lives! I was laughing hysterically. Great love story with Heather and Jase. Fun read!
This was a good read. The writing flowed well, and I liked Jase and Heather together. Jase was a good guy, but let his family rule his life. Even though he has his reasons, it’s a turn off for a guy that’s over the age of 18. Heather had a good heart, but she let her past rule her. She jumped to conclusions more than once. Her obsession with the “senior” prom, and making it the same as her high school prom she didn’t go to was too much for me. I didn’t go to prom either, and I couldn’t tell you what the theme of it was supposed to be. Jase and Heather did have good chemistry, and they brought out the best in each other. Jase’s family was nuts, but it seemed like his grandma really did want the best for him. I liked the group of friends that was there for each of them. The ending was super sweet, and I was happy they get their HEA.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
I was looking for something lighthearted and fun to read, and I found it.
Jase, Heather, and their fake break up was a definite twist to the “fake” genre. Jase returned from overseas and was going through the motions. Heather had begged off men period.
In walks Jase’s mix-life crisis 80 year old grandmother, and nothing is ever the same for Jase and Heather again.
I liked Jase and Heather. They had great chemistry, witty banter, were funny, and had a few steamy scenes. Describing Jase’s family as quirky would be putting it mildly. In all honesty, Jase’s grandmother and all of her antics stole the show in this book. Jase and Heather just went along for the ride.
We get to revisit some of the characters from the previous book. There is also a moment that is reminiscent of a fairly popular movie from the past. Then there is Jase and Heather’s HEA.
I’m looking forward to Eli’s book.
Another absolutely enjoyable read from Christina Hovland! I’d read the first book in this series, Going Down on OneKnee, and enjoyed it so much that I immediately followed it up with this one. Like its predecessor, this was hysterically funny with emotion-filled moments and a HEA. You’ll love Jase, a sexy, gorgeous and sensitive man and Heather, a smart, strong, yet vulnerable woman. Their story is complicated by Jase’s over-involved but well-meaning family. The bonds of friendship continue with support provided by Dean and Claire, Brek and Velma, and Eli. I love this series and you will, too.
Christina Hovland’s books have me hooked and I’m running through this new to me author fast. This book like the title said blew me away and made me relax for a few hours. I totally recommend.
Heather. Jase. Babushka. They broke up with their significant others and then broke up with each other. And that’s when the fun got started. I really enjoyed this story. It was witty and kept the pages turning. I’ll read more by this author.
