Power. Prestige. Politics. As heir to the coven over New York, Damien Rochester is ruthless and not afraid to do whatever it takes to protect his family. While attending a masquerade hosted by a business associate he meets a masked woman who captivates him like no other. Spoiled. Naïve. Alone. The daughter of a rival coven leader, Ava Carr only wants one thing—freedom.A rare night out has her … wants one thing—freedom.
A rare night out has her crossing paths with the sexiest man she’s ever met.
The brief encounter leaves them wanting more.
One rash decision has them meeting once again—only this time it’s not so amicable.
Finding herself deep in enemy territory Ava’s lost in a world of politics and family ties. Her hard fought freedom and sanity are on the line. She needs to decide if Damien can be trusted or if this is a battle she has to conquer alone.
Damien finds himself in a complicated situation: burdened with the girl, he’s thrown into a war he’s not all that sure he can win. Or if she’s even worth fighting for.
Together the two could be a powerful force. But, tying themselves to one another might be just as deadly as facing their enemies alone.
*Due to strong language, violence, and explicit sexual interaction this book is recommended for readers 18 and up.

Dark
Twisted
Violent
Not your typical paranormal romance.
At times so over the top, yet I had to finish to know how it ended.
Omg, Damian is hot, ruthless, sexy as sin and so brutal. This story was beyond hot and oh so good. There was heartbreak and passion between these two. Can’t wait for #2.
Where to start?
I LOVED this book.
The twisted brutal darkness in this story is definitely not for the faint of heart, but rather those who love the darkness that surrounds some aspects of the underbelly life in the paranormal world.
There is a large cast of characters, so be prepared to pay attention, this is not a book you want to skim. This is a book you want to soak in, slowly, marinating in all its wonderful viciousness- at least I did.
I so badly want bk 2!!!
I need more!!!!
This was a good start to a new series. I liked the naive, abused princess who still stood up for herself and her friends however she could. The plot was really interesting with lots of twists and turns. Unfortunately, I didn’t like the main male lead. I’m no stranger to dark, dangerous monsters as the male leads and I don’t mind a slow burn type of story but this was a bit much. There still needs to be something that keeps you liking him while you wait for the final walls to break down but I just didn’t like him much at all. I was almost wanting her to end up with someone else the whole time. All that being said, I am in love with the world in this book. I love vampires; I love mafia battles; I love romances. Therefore, to put them all together in the modern day – love love love!! So, I am definitely looking forward to the next book in this series!

Well I didn’t know what to expect when these two authors linked up to write a book! It definitely packs a punch.
Ava and Damien meet at a masquerade party and the attraction is instant, however as they are dragged in different directions to deal with situations that crop up its clear that this connection is not going to be uncomplicated. Ava at times seems feisty and fierce as she is flipped from one kind of prison to another but actually she is quite naïve and shocked by the lengths others will go to.
Damien is the heir to a coven, he inspires loyalty and gives it in return but can be cold and unfeeling. At times he can be hard to like, then others he redeems himself.
What I liked about this book, is the underlying story of covens at war and the battle to take control. there is a lot of action and violence, not for the faint hearted, but I think it adds to the pacing and keeps everything on edge. I have to say the ending took me by surprise, it wasn’t how I expected things to go at all!
4.5 action packed stars
Damian is a hard character. He’s callus, abrasive, and dark. His upbringing allowed for no other choice. A father that hates him and an unfeeling mother that chose his father over him. Luckily, he has an unusually connection with his brothers and sister-in-law. Though, as they day repeatedly throughout the entire book, he would hate to kill them but he wouldn’t hesitate to do it and wouldn’t lose sleep over it. All of them are just as dangerous as Damian. Think Mafia mob boss and family then add in the supernatural vampire and you get a picture of this family.
The childhood neighborhood was the worst nightmare you can imagine torture, abuse, hatred, and discuss. Even the only had to watch her father all these out on his enemies, she also endure them.
The night Damien and his family kidnapped Ava was one of the worst thing she could have imagined but may turn out for the best. If she can only survive the war between the two families.
This book was slow at times and there were times I wanted to put it down but I’m glad I finished it. There were many editorial errors that a little sprucing up will help. There is also a rape scene that doesn’t coincide very well with later intimate activities.
The ending is a killer you won’t want to miss.
When i started this book i got the impression it was going to be the Vampire equivalent of Romeo & Juliet , i couldn’t of been more wrong . Ava is to the outside world the pampered princess of the Carr coven , as they say you can never tell what goes on behind closed doors & her life was one of pain & torture , escape her only hope .
Damien Rochester is heir to his coven , what you see is what you get , strong , hard , cruel at times he can give as well as take punishment , hated him for first half of book but there is a heart under that tough exterior you just got to dig deep to find it . Damien’s a family first vampire & will go to any length to protect his three brothers & sister ,we all need a sister like Sheila , my favourite character by far . Uniting two covens was never going to be easy , kidnap , torture , murder , sometimes even these aren’t enough , you will not be able to put this book down once you start & even when you finish , it will leave you wanting more , the best book i’ve read in a long time .

I received this book and was excited to read it after reading the blurb. However, as soon as I started the book I could tell it was different then what I was expecting. It is a Paranormal Romance (if you can call it that). The romance of this story was twisted and wrong. I’m used to the stories with twisted love because it makes sense for those characters, this story never made sense to me. There were some scenes that were just too much for me. And others that left me shaking my head asking why the authors did that. Then you add the fact that this story needs a good proofreader, I just couldn’t rate this book higher than a 3 star.
Be warned this book contains kidnapping, torture, rape, and a lot of violence.
I’ve read Claire Marta before but this is the first book I’ve picked up by Abrianna Denea and I have to say these two women are a dynamic duo!!! These two authors wrote seamlessly together. In my head I read everything Ava said in a British accent. Her and Damien are heirs to their coven in New York and are enemies. The one thing they both have in common is their fathers not wanting to give up leadership of their respected covens. Where Ava‘s father physically and mentally tortures her Damien’s father verbally abuses him. Ava and Damien have a chance meeting at a masquerade ball and things heat up from their first encounter. Even when they find out each others identity their sexual chemistry is explosive. If you are looking for a happy ending this is not I repeat this is not the book for you. But if you want a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat from page one GET THIS BOOK!!!! I can’t wait for book two!
** I voluntarily read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review **
A very bloody union
Damien – the eldest of four – His mother was a whore- his father a ruthless leader – raised and trained to inherit the throne from birth
Eva – the only child of her father’s – he had no need for a female heir – but he did, however, have plans that would make her the asset that would cement his bid for power
A chance encounter – (fate or tragedy -that is still up for debate)
that would create a bloodbath of epic proportions
This is their story – brutal, raw and full of violence – though somewhere within all the darkness a miracle is created
I relished the way this story was written with regards to the smoothness of the plot line – the intricate details of the characters and the vast world-building behind everything.
I love detailed reads especially when the opening book is so fluid and easy to read – I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series
However, I was a bit disappointed with some of the editing that is the reason for the lower rating
