In an attempt to stop a school shooting from happening, John Jordan, has to make a excruciatingly difficult decision. This series is extremely well written with flawed but personable characters. It deals with the horribly complicated issue of school shootings and the struggles of addiction. The narrative is done from John Jordan’s point of view allowing insight into his thought, motivations, insecurities, emotions, weaknesses and actions. The storyline flows smoothly and quickly with lots of action, surprises, emotional drama, and suspense. The realities of the horrors of the fear and results of school shootings. I really enjoy this series. It is so well written and engaging. The main character is so relatable. I look forward to reading more in this series.
Great series
I got this Audio book from Chirp. Plenty of twist and turns that will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat.
Pretty good plot, but main characters are so unlikable. The more of the series I read, the more I dislike John and Anna. Anna is so needy it is disgusting. In the middle of an active school shooter situation, she calls John at the school to ask if he is okay?? Is this wise?
Anna is supposed to be an attorney but comes across TSTL. Is this to make John seem more manly? And, what is the need to talk about them having sex every few minutes? To make the book longer?
Surprise ending, did not see it coming. Could have been better with a good editor.
Very captivating and builds suspense. Good character representation.
Love Lister’s writing!
This book by Michael Lister gives you everything you would want in a mystery. I am glad to see that the protagonist, John Jordan, has finally admitted his alcoholism. (I have missed some of the series in which this must have happened.). And, like with most recovering addicts, he struggles to stay sober, something that is complicated by many aspects of his life. A great story up until the end. I felt such a letdown by the ending…Not enough pieces coming together to allow the reader to see it concluded this way. Good, but not great.
Typical of Lister. You need to read the series, though, to fully understand the characters. A recovering alcoholic, who falls off of the wagon. A chaplain, an detective, a father, all in one character. Maybe a little too complicated???
Not a page turner
I love the character and story building. The story is totally believable and realistic.
Great characters and story
Michael Lister………..tops!!!!!!
A great read.It hits a little close to home since I’m from South Florida and considering the subject matter, but I really liked the storyline.
It is a rehash of violent school killings
I have enjoyed reading all of Lister’s books and this one was equally as good although included a lot more historical information on the sad reality of school shootings. I found it to be a great read because in addition to the good storyline you also learned a lot of interesting information. I would highly recommend.
All Michael Lister books are excellent.
Love all Michael Lister’s John Jordan stories!
Love it!
How to read John Jordan books is the most ridiculous opening; no reader should have to read in order. Thankfully the book is a story unto itself and well written for our times.
Couldn’t stop reading………….
