A new urban fantasy series by USA Today bestselling author Angela Roquet. Detective Jenna Skye bombs her first week on the St. Louis Vice Squad when she’s bitten by a vampire in a supernatural brothel. Her day only gets worse from there. She wakes up in the morgue and discovers that her partner is dead. Before the sun rises, she realizes she is too. Jenna vows to continue their investigation … their investigation until justice is served, but a werewolf squatter, an unexpected visit from her estranged sister, and a nosy FBI agent stand in her way. Not to mention her fresh aversion to sunlight and a thirst for something a little stiffer than revenge.

I liked the premise of the book – it seemed to be a nice twist on the vampire/werewolf genre. It was well-written and held my attention, but suffered from yet another female protagonist who just does Stupid Things in spite of otherwise seeming to be intelligent. And when things don’t go well, she beats herself up for doing stupid things but then does more of them. If you don’t mind characters who act like that, you’ll likely enjoy the book.
It certainly doesn’t read like expected. Haven’t decided to control book two yet.
It was a bit original for a cop-paranormal story, but I feel like the ending just wrapped up too quickly.
I wouldn’t want to cross the House of Lilith.
Love this series of stories
Not well written.
I enjoyed most of it, but either the character should have been younger or less unsure of themselves. It got kinda old , but in general the series looks to have promise. I got the first copy for free on promo on the iTunes book store, i dont’ know if it’d have interested me to grab but glad they do the drug dealer first one is free as now i want to see where this goes.
Well written and entertaining!
Liked it. Will probably pick up others in the series.
I read a TON, so it’s hard for me to find new authors and series that I enjoy. Needless to say, when a series pops up by an author I’ve never heard of, and I’m able to get that book for FREE (thanks, BookBub) I’m pretty happy.
This book is everything I hope to find when I’m looking to begin reading a new series for fun.
Those of us who enjoy specific genres tend to encounter a lot of very similar scenes, situations, character types etc. But that’s expected and easily overlooked as long as the characters are unique, the situations are entertaining, the banter is at least somewhat clever, and the end leaves you wondering what will happen next.
This book managed all of those things. In fact, I keep having this mental image of a werewolf (named “Mandy”) wearing a K-9 officer’s off duty jacket with a bunch of cash stashed in it’s little pockets! Adorable and hilarious! Though the book didn’t blow my mind, scenes like this are pure gold!
I’ll absolutely be reading the rest of the books in the series. I certainly recommend the Blood Vice books to fans of the genre.
I’m just about to start the second book, so I’ll keep you posted. The next review will probably touch more on the characters and such. I got a great deal on the first 3 in a boxed set via Kobo, so I can at least tell you how it goes until the end of the 3rd book, lol. Enjoy!
It was Different. I really enjoyed it
AWESOME Series!
Change of pace incorporating werewolf’s and vampires into law enforcement. Interesting twist utilizing a twin sister.
I just really like these easy fast paced reads!
Want to know how our heroine is going to come to terms with being a vampire.
I started out thinking “Cop, female, strong character” and found myself a bit disappointed. Seemed to be more impulsive, out of control and hardly what anyone would think of as a cop. How on earth did she get promoted to vice? Seriously? And then the whole Lilith business. Obviously there’s more to come but I’m not sure I’d be interested in furthering my acquaintance with this character. Sorry. I hope things improve in future editions.
Great
This was a good entertaining book!
This book is very interesting and different. The characters are so well done that you can hear the dogs barking. The idea off 2 different supernatural beings helping each other is unique (at lest to me).
I encourage everyone to read this series.
The heroine is very selfish and self absorbed. That gets tiresome.
