In the midst of supernatural chaos, worlds and hearts collide. Celia: Having never known my parents, I’ve always felt like an orphan. All I want is a normal life. But after I’m attacked in my bedroom by one vampire—and rescued by another—it’s about time to give up on “normal” once and for all. Idris, the second in command of the Gregorie vampire clan, has come to my aid, but his motives for … my aid, but his motives for saving me are unclear. And what surprises me most is my attraction to his heated gaze. . . .
Idris: Terror. Curiosity. Arousal. These are the natural impulses of a human female, not the spawn of the ruthless Valarian king. Is it possible that Celia is unaware of her bloodline—and the power coursing through her veins? As the daughter of my archenemy, she was supposed to be my ransom. But how quickly the heat of desire changes everything. Now the family Celia has always craved is trying to kill her, and it’s up to me to save her again—when all I really want to do is make her mine.
Megan Erickson’s thrilling Mission novels can be read together or separately:

I liked this book and am looking forward to reading more in this series.
An amazing addition to the series! Idris and Celia’s chemistry is off the charts! I love how they move from hunter/prey to lovers. That their love developed despite all the obstacles.
This Gregorie clan is definitely growing on me. The continued world building and character development is excellent. I loved how Blood Veil really is a story of family, friendship, vengeance and love. And I hope there is more to this excellent Mission series.
Blood, passion and action
I love this series and that’s weird for me to say because I’ve just recently discovered this genre (vampires)
This is what I liked:
* Good storyline that has a progression I feel matches the length of the story.
* The suspense is just enough for me to bite my nails but not overwhelming
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and good dialogues that helps the story flow very easy.
* Secondary characters that are familiar and some new ones is a good mix
* The connection between Celia and Idris is coming alive in the way the author describes their feelings.
* Love scenes is hot and intense
* There’s a surprise turn in the story I didn’t expect and I was a little perplexed at first but it’s all good.
If you like vampire series I recommend this one from a author that obviously can write anything and I will have trouble putting the book down.
5 stars
Light and easy with a lot of entertaining moments and some sexy times mixed in. If you’re looking for some fast paced vampire fun that isn’t too taxing, this is it.
Megan Erickson does not disappoint in the second installment of the Mission series. In Blood Veil we get a closer look at the brother who was groomed to be King of the Gregorie.
Under his father’s rule, Idris was raised to be King and to follow in his honorable footsteps. Then it was revealed that his father was not so honorable after all and Idris suffered for the betrayals he made against his own clan. Idris is determined to exact revenge on the clan that turned his father against his own people, and Celia Valerie will make the perfect pawn to his plans.
I was excited to get to read Idris’ story. He was a strong alpha warrior even after everything that went down in the first book, Blood Guard. His single minded goal of revenge was a bit tiresome at times, considering I thought he was the nicer of the two brothers. Boy was I wrong, neither brother is nice!!! But not in a bad way, well not completely anyway. Idris, like Athan, will do whatever it takes to assure that those he cares about are safe and well taken care of. He is lethal and drop dead sexy, a devastating combination.
Celia is someone that has been left alone for most of her life. Raised in foster homes and with few friends she is a character that I want to protect from all the evil in the world. She is sweet and kind, the way she visited with Charlie really gave the feel of the person she was. But what I really loved about Celia as a character is that Megan gave her panic attacks, and they were related in such a realistic way that I related to what was happening.
I have loved both books in this series and I cannot wait for more! Megan’s leap into paranormal romance, if you ask me, has been extremely successful and proven her worth as an author.

**Review by Amy W., Late Night Reviewer for Up All Night w/ Books**
Blood Veil by Megan Erickson is book Two in the Mission Series. This is the story of Celia and Idris. I have read the previous book but feel you can make this a standalone book.
This was a exciting Vampire Dark Romance that kept you wanting to see what would be happening next.
I look forward to the next book in this series.
I absolutely love paranormal reads and Blood Veil was a good read. This story is a continuation of the first story so if you haven’t read the first book I would recommend reading that one first just to know who the characters are that appear in this book. I enjoyed the main characters Celia and Idris. I didn’t feel that deep bond between them that I was hoping for, but there was definitely a connection between the two. The storyline was a good one; steamy scenes with action and revenge. The story flowed at a great pace and kept me wanting to read more. I finished the book in one sitting and was completely happy with the ending. I definitely look forward to reading more books from this author in the future. This is a great read for paranormal lovers.
**I received a copy of Blood Veil from Net Galley and Loveswept in exchange a voluntary and honest review**
Blood Veil is the second book in Megan Erickson Mission vampire series. I highly recommend reading the previous book first before diving into this one. The first story had Athan and Tendra and in this addition you’re introduced to Athan’s brother Idris. He’s sent to Mission City to find Veils who is the Valerian princess.
Celia has been always been alone first as a orphan and foster child and then as a nurse at the hospital. Her one friend is Monica and her son Charlie who has cancer are the people she is most close too. But she will do anything for her little friend even if she knows there’s no cure. Little does she know that a Group of Valerian vampires and Quellans are out to kill her because she has the Blood veil. Since she never knew her parents or that vampires existed she’ll fight them with the help of Idris against them
Idris has one goal finding out where the Valerian princess is and if she knows where her father is. But there’s a teensy problem Celia doesn’t know who it what she is or that she has a family. They escape just barely and manage to evade the new leader of the Valerian Keno. Will they be able to evade them and get to Athan in time? Can Celia and Idris find a life together once they understand what being a Blood Veil means to the both of them?
This second book in Megan Erickson’s Mission series brings all the action and adventure that we saw in Blood Guard only this one is more of an enemies to lovers romance. The conflict between the Gregorie Valarian clans is what brings Idris and Celia together with the twist that Idris has plans to use her for revenge and Celia has no idea of who she even is, let alone knowing anything about vampires. Of course, nothing goes as planned, which is to be expected and was certainly predictable with this type of story. Regardless of the predictability of certain things in the book, the endearing characters and witty dialogue, along with a fast-paced storyline held my interest from start to finish. Idris makes quite the journey from brooding vampire deadset on revenge to doing what is best for his family and clan, and Celia is the very definition of a damsel in distress who learns what it means to love and sacrifice. Blood Veil can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend starting at the beginning to get the impact of Erickson’s vampire world and it’s wonderful characters.
Blood Veil is a thrilling read with some sexy characters that will take your breath away!
First, let me tell you that I have not read the 1st book in the series as I somehow missed it (I will be rectifying that asap) and I still really enjoyed Blood Veil but I think that Blood Guard should probably been read first to achieve maximum understanding of Megan Erickson’s very intriguing world. But like I said, it didn’t stop me from enjoying the book without reading it, I just think that the events leading up to this character’s book would have helped to get a more complete picture the world and to fully understand what drives the characters.
Now on to my opinion of Blood Veil – Celia and Idris are strong, captivating characters with sizzling chemistry and a heavy-duty attraction that readers can practically feel vibrating from every page, their romance rocky due to some seemingly unresolvable issues and of course the fear of the unknown which draws readers in and keeps them focused on the events throughout the book. The fast paced plot keeps readers on the edge of their seats throughout the book with suspense and thrills and surprising twists that keeps readers guessing and the supporting characters are lively and compelling with some bad guys that makes readers want to shoot them themselves.
Megan Erickson brings her very intriguing world of vampires to life with vivid imagery, fascinating characters and some unique elements that add spice and intrigue to her world which means that I will definitely be coming back for more as I was completely enthralled with this Mission novel.
3.5 stars–BLOOD VEIL is the second instalment in Megan Erickson’s contemporary, adult MISSION paranormal, romance series. This is ER nurse Celia Valerie, and vampire Idris’s story line. BLOOD VEIL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Idris and Celia) BLOOD VEIL finds Idris, second in command of the Gregorie vampire clan on a mission to locate and abduct the mysterious Celia Valerie-the spawn of their enemy, the Valarian king, and a woman completely unaware of her vampire heritage. When a Quellen (assassin for hire) targets Celia late at night Idris knows it is time to reveal the truth to our story line heroine. What ensues is the growing relationship between Idris and Celia, and the potential fall-out as Celia’s life hangs in the balance when Idris runs afoul of his brother’s orders.
Idris is lost; groomed to be the leader of the Gregorie vampire clan, Idris would discover that everything he knew about his existence was a fabricated lie by the father he once loved and adored (Blood Guard #1). Now that his brother Athan was in charge Idris felt a disconnection; a sense of loneliness where it concerned the vampire lifestyle but a man, angry and betrayed, determined to seek vengeance for sins of the past. Meeting Celia Valeria, a woman who knows nothing about the who, how and why of her vampire DNA, finds our hero ready to sacrifice himself for the woman he loves.
The relationship between Idris and Celia is one of immediate attraction. As Idris’ captive, Celia believes she has developed ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ but her willingness to forfeit her life reveals a much deeper belief about the man with whom she is falling in love. A former child of the foster care system, Celia suffers with panic attacks, and nightmares that reveal the truth about her ‘unnatural’ existence. Idris will detour from the original mission, a detour that threatens Celia’s life, as well as his own. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are reintroduced to Idris’ brother Athan, king of the Gregorie vampires, and his mate Tendra, as well as Athan’s best friend Zeb. Celia will discover a half-sister whose earlier years proved to be better than hers, and a father who was hoping to protect his progeny and spawn.
The world building continues to reveal the history between the warring clans as the Gregorie vampires are pulled into a conflict that began with the betrayal of the man once in charge.
BLOOD VEIL is a story of family, friendship, vengeance and love. The premise is engaging, fast paced and intriguing; the romance is dramatic and sensual; the characters are tragic, edgy and spirited. BLOOD VEIL is a predictable but impassioned story about vampires and the women they love.
I’m feeling a bit ambivalent about this one. There was a cheesy feeling for me. I actually had a Twilight flashback when Celia was speaking to Idris about what he was. And sure her panic attacks were mentioned, but I never got a feeling of disbelief from her. UMMMM you just found out that vampires are real, and your father was one and you don’t even think “NO WAY”. She just was like “Oh. OK. Yea, I get to meet my Dad!”
I have always enjoyed Megan Erickson books, so I will read her again. But this one was not for me
