A startling new vision of paranormal romance: When a human ventures into the world of vampires—a decadent milieu of blood-bonds and betrayal—she discovers that not all is what it seems. For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival. In a civilization laid waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite. … and hungry vampire elite. Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson. He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing—he won’t feed off her.
Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that, in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed.
For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of her.
Note: Reyna and Beckham’s story continues in Blood Match.

wonderful start to an amazing series
If you are looking for something to listen to while you work this is a perfect book. I kinda hope they make it into a HBO special it would be a good sunday night show
Interesting premise and society. Well written. The main character sometimes acted after a “oh well” mental justification which I didn’t love. And there was very little reason for her to fall in love with the main love interest. All in, it was interesting but I’m not sure I’ll pick up book 2.
Absolutely wonderful read. Finishing this book had me immediately buying and finishing the next.. “Blood Match” and and have pre-ordered “Blood Cure” – should be out this week!!!!!. I have to find out how this ends Blood Match left me crying at the end. What an amazing world and experience you created for us to read!
The Hunger Games meets Twilight and 50 Shades. There are so many elements of the other books in this one it’s at times distracting; however fans of the others will probably enjoy this. The story was engaging and interesting. The writing was not. This was one of those books that you can see flashes of good writing where everything flows and the rest is a lot of telling us what happened which is not as easy to read. The story kept me reading in spite of what was mentioned above. Ended with a cliffhanger and I wanted to know what came next.
Oh wow, color me intrigued! Vampires are my absolute favorite paranormal beings to read about, there’s just something about them that’s so alluring and erotic. And the new take on the vampire world had me completely hooked on Blood Type.
With K.A. Linde being one of the authors that I’ll absolutely read anything from, I was more than elated once I heard she had a new paranormal series coming out. So I was definitely on board before even knowing what the series would be about. Just like Reyna, we’re learning more about this world of being blood escort right alongside with her. She was very naive about the world she lived in, but she did what she could to stop being such a burden to her brothers. I completely admired how selfless she was and I was constantly rooting for someone to truly appreciate her for the person that she is.
And all eyes were staring right at the vampire extraordinaire that is Beckham Anderson. I’d like to describe him as a nice and cold, shiny rock. It was a mystery for a while about why he decided to take on Reyna as his blood escort, but she was definitely treated more like a paid roommate. Their conversations were little and there was no telling what he actually thought about her. However, some of his actions towards Reyna’s whereabouts and well-being showed you that he actually cared more about her than we thought. But it just makes it hard for us to love him because he has this hot and cold persona going on. And it’s quite the sight when he finally opens up to Reyna!
It’s a bit of an action-packed journey as Reyna tries to figure out what the heck is going on in the world of being a blood escort. The cliffhanger is a killer, but I don’t care. I’m completely invested in this series and can’t wait to see how everything will end!
This was well written, great concept with characters that I truly was interested in. It was an extremely even read that I wish was conveyed the dangers and sexual tension in an exciting way. This is a cliffhanger so maybe book 2 will convey things differently if not I will still read it since I really enjoyed the characters.
I was given an arc for my honest opinion.
Beckham sure knows how to make a girl feel special, “I won’t have anyone threatening you. You are very valuable.” Beckham’s lady sure knows how to drive him bonkers, “his eyes crawled her body again, and she noticed a slight tremor in his hand. “I need a drink,” he said.” I liked this book, a I’m eager for the next one in this series, a I’m dying to know what’s going to happen.
I’ve been waiting for a great new Paranormal series for what feels like years! Paranormal Romance has always been my go to genre. It’s where my love of reading started and where I always find myself drifting back too. It’s been a really long time since I found a new series to start and a really long time since I’ve enjoyed a Vampire book as much as the Sookie Stackhouse, Guild Hunters and Night Huntress Series!
Blood Type was my first K.A. Linde book and the first in her new paranormal trilogy. As soon as I read the blurb I was intrigued with the premise and couldn’t wait to see what direction this story took. Set in the future where Vampires essentially rule the world, Blood Type is written in the POV of Reyna Carpenter, our female protagonist. Reyna is a 21 year old living with her 2 older brothers and trying to find not only a way to survive but a way to live. Blood Type begins with Reyna making one of the hardest decisions of her life.
Eric Northman was my first Vampiric love and Beckham Anderson is sitting not too far behind him when it comes to Paranormal Romance. Beckham has your typical vampiric qualities, possessive, controlling & secretive. All my favourite things!
Reading Blood Type, you could tell it was the beginning of a series. It left you with so many questions and only a couple of answers that resulted in even more questions. The pace of the story was quite quick and probably faster paced than most contemporary romance novels but I find that the faster pace always works in the Paranormal genre. There’s always so much world building involved that you need to grasp which speeds up relationship building.
The world building for Blood Type was very well written and easy to keep track of. It was a really great straight forward concept that didn’t end up convoluted like some world building can.
Beckham and Reyna have a very complicated relationship which feels very much one sided during the first 70% of Blood Type but worked really well to develop the plot and Reyna’s development. It created a lot of secrecy on Beckham’s side which kept me turning pages as fast as I could.
I really enjoyed reading Blood Type, it was definitely a building book for the characters and plot and I’m super excited to see what happens next for Reyna, Beckham and all those sneaky side characters that made some interesting and troubling appearances! I’m a sucker for a good cliffhanger and Blood Type gave me that goose bump inducing, sitting on the edge of my seat feeling and left me desperate for Blood Match. I think I’m going to be stuck in that suspenseful feeling I love until it hits my Kindle!
Blood Type was a suspenseful 4.5 star read and the wait for Blood Match is going to be a crazy ride.
I find myself fascinated by the world that K.A. Linde is building in her new paranormal romance, BLOOD TYPE. The reader is immediately thrust into this new world, a world where vampires and humans coexist, although not always peacefully. The class divide is startling, and much of society lives in poverty, which leads to Reyna’s life-changing decision. The entry into this world is jarring for the reader, as we’re not given any backstory as to how or why the society has become what it is, but for me, that is one of the strengths of this novel, the way it immediately has the reader absorbed and invested into the WHY of it all.
I will admit that the first half of this story did stall for me a bit, with a lot of repetitive situations that became tiresome, but the air of mystery that surrounds this vampire society compelled me to keep reading, desperate to know more.
However, the second half of the book really takes off, and K.A. Linde delves deep into vampire politics, and how that is entwined with the current government, and what all of that means for vampires and humans alike. My favorite part of vampire novels is their society and structure of their race, so this had me excited and kept me turning the pages.
If I’m being honest, I struggled with Reyna’s character, while I was taken in my Beckham’s aloof persona. I am excited to get deeper into their relationship, however. There is still so much to explore between them. There was some serious chemistry between the two, and I’m looking forward to some explosive scenes in the future. The secondary characters are strong, and I’m excited to see their arcs throughout the rest of this series.
At the end of this story, I found myself shaking my kindle, hoping more words would fall out. K.A. Linde has definitely drawn me into this new world and I can’t wait to see what she brings to us in BLOOD MATCH. I not only want to know more, I NEED to.

Blood type review
5 multiplied times infinity stars…
First. When Kyla and team chose to add me to the ARC Squad, I literally lost my mind. I mean winning the lottery, rubbing the lamp and finding a genie, & the hottest guy in the world paying off all my debts all rolled into one “you’ve been selected email”, I. LOST. MY. MIND. EXCITED.
I seriously love, devour, read, & re-read everything of her’s. Her books are PHENOMENAL and so well written. The character development so legit and real. I even message her about secondary characters. And she responds. I. Love. Me. Some. KA Linde. Books.
But, please know that this review is on an early copy but if it was less than 5 stars I’d still be honest. Even though I flipping love her stuff.
Second. But more importantly. Blood Type. Just stop reading this and go start the book. Seriously. I won’t be offended. Staaahp, open, click, whatevs. Start. This. Book.
You’re still reading? Ok. Here goes. Some are probably thinking…
Don’t usually read paranormal? Welp. Me either.
Don’t usually care about vampires? Ditto
Kinda over the world is coming to an end by means of greed etc? Completely agree.
Rest assured I feel the same way and this book, this story, these characters… I can’t even come up with a word to describe how fan-f*cking-tastic Blood Type is!!! I wish I could go back to yesterday and call in sick so I could devote the entire day to uninterrupted gluttony, devouring this book.
Now, how to say enough to get you to read it with no spoilers. Hmmmmm. Tricky. Tricky.
That’s hard. Remember I mentioned I didn’t normally read paranormal (I love me some BDB, Mercy Thompson, Charlie Davidson, but other than those 3 series, I usually pass) so. While saying that, agreeing to be on the arc squad means I have to read every book she writes, right? Even ones I normally wouldn’t. I went into this book knowing the writing would be EXCELLENT, knowing I love her stuff, figuring I’d tough through so I’d meet my obligations on a para gig, paying forward waiting in Sav’s story to come out in May. I went into this book with very little plot or blurb knowledge. I hadn’t even read the general synopsis on the ‘back cover’. Well. Going in blind worked. This story has it all. Sucked me in.
Meet Reyna, beloved sister to two hardworking Brothers, in a society that deems her near useless.
Meet Visage, a company providing a life source to vampires. Think Match.com meets a fertility clinic. So. Basically. You can apply to be a donor and they (Visage) matches up the human with a vampire of their blood type to feed. They pay better than any other job out there.
Meet Beckham. Vampire. Matches with Reyna.
Know a couple things going in.
You WILL fall in love with Beckham.
You WILL adore Reyna.
You will want the 2nd book immediately.
You will NOT regret reading this and if you haven’t already you will Buy all her other books* *start with Brody or the Avoiding series, signed sincerely, a tip from a fan 😉
There’s steamy, hot parts and endearing sweet parts. And heartbreaking plot twists. Roll with it.
Please note this is book 1 in a trilogy. It will end in a cliffhanger. Book 2 is due around 6/26 and 3 around 8/21.
If you like legit heroes and chemistry. This is the book for you. There is so much more I want to say but don’t want to spoil it for anyone!!!

Blood Type is the first novel in the Blood Type Series by K.A. Linde….Warning, This novel ends with a huge cliffy!
I have been on a serious paranormal kick this month. I don’t know why, it just all of a sudden came over me. After reading the synopsis for Blood type and seeing this cover, how could I not request a copy!
This novel took me on a journey that is so unlike what I imagined. Reyna is at her wit’s end. She can’t get a job, and she’s sick of seeing her brothers go to work and bust their asses with the results showing nothing. So she does what any desperate person would do, she gets in touch with Visage. Visage is a corporation that specializes in ‘body employment’ services. in short-term, Vampires employ humans as blood donors.
Beckham Anderson is a vampire who carries his secrets close to him, he’s also a beast and one who is most feared. When Reyna is matched to be Beckham’s blood employee, she thinks it’ll be a walk in the park….until feelings get involved and wires get crossed.
I’ve read stacks upon stacks of paranormal novels in my lifetime but I don’t remember ever reading a novel with this type of content. I was intrigued by Reyna and her poverty driven lifestyle. Then after joining Visage, she’s given the fairytale of lavish gowns and riches only she could imagine in her dreams, but that doesn’t make her happy. She wants friendship and the feeling of being wanted. She’s definitely a woman who cannot be bought.
Then we have Beckham Anderson. Throughout this novel Beckham is listed to be a lethal vampire who can turn in a seconds time. I didn’t feel that vibe from him. In fact for a Vampire he kind of bored me in the beginning. It’s during the halfway point where I finally got a glimpse of the vampire everyone says is to be feared. One thing that redeemed his character, in my eyes, is the mysterious vibe that came from him. This Vampire has his secrets and he keeps them close.
Throughout this novel, I had a love/hate relationship with Reyna and Beckham. Usually I dont’ mind a back and forth relationship, but this situation was a tad bit aggravating, I now understand the reasoning behind why the back and forth was drawn out though.
As for the ending, if you all don’t like cliffy’s I highly suggest you wait until the second book comes out. This ends with a huge cliffhanger that has me wanting and needing answers…Immediately!
Overall, this was a great read with original ideas and genius situations. I just wish the back and forth between the main characters wasn’t drawn out so much.
Ah-Maz-Ing!!!! I went into this book blind. I have read K.A. Linde before and always enjoyed her writing but this book, this world that she created is great! I love the dark mixed in qith the light and this book feeds all the things I look for in a book! I am going to die wating for the next 2 books
I am a vampire fan. I thought I had every version of vampire there is. Blood Type is a great combination of my favorite types of vampire books. The vampires in this story are powerful, have no real care for the humans other than for their blood, and cannot see beyond what they want. The exception to this rule is Beck. He cares but is still a vampire and has to play the vampire game. I love that he isn’t able to show his hand but takes care of Reyna by pushing her away. From the beginning I knew there was more to Beck but I love that I had to read the entire story before I found out what that more was.
Reyna is honorable. She grew up poor and undereducated. Yet she wanted to do more. She wanted that job, that she wanted to be able to help support her family but she didn’t know how. Until she found out about the new program that would make money to help her brothers and ease their burdens. That program led her straight to Beck. From the very first meeting the sparks were there. There was no doubt that while she was there to sustain Beck with her blood, there was something more between them. I was excited to read more and find out what would happen between the two of them.
Blood Type is a series and it ends with a cliffhanger. Usually this annoys me but with this one it makes me excited to read the next books.
OMG, this book, I have yet to write a review for this book yet because I can’t even wrap my head around this book yet, like how could that happen stuff!!!! ***Highly recommended for avid readers or if you like paranormal romance more adult than twilight series.
Intriguing, addictive, compelling, this book is the best vampire story I’ve read since the BDB series. I had stopped reading vampire stories, but this one called to me, drew me in, and captivated me. I loved the vampire world invented by this author. It is dark and dangerous, like a Mad Max vampire story.
Reyna applied to work as a blood escort for vampires. The world is now one where vampires co-exist with humans in almost peace. The economy had crashed and almost everyone lived in poverty. The largest company in the world, Visage, owned and operated by vampires, offered jobs to humans as blood donors, and many humans flocked to apply, wanting to escape starvation. Reyna’s two brothers work many hours for minimum wages and she felt she was too much of a burden to them. This way, she could live well, eat well, and send them money to improve their life.
Instead of being assigned into the usual arrangement of different sponsors on a monthly basis, she was offered a position as a permanent escort to a sponsor. Since this was double the pay she accepted the position and was introduced to her sponsor, Beckham Anderson.
When he arrives to pick her up and take her to his home, she’s struck dumb. He is perfection, and huge, and formidable. And yet, he is indifferent to her, very standoffish and curt. Once established in his home, she’s given strict instructions on behavior, being available to him when requested, and letting him know where she is at all times. The strange thing is, he never feeds from her.
Reyna gives Beckham a crazy ride, disappearing to visit her brothers, going out with the only human friend she found, asking questions all the time, demanding information, and getting into trouble several times. Beckham always comes to the rescue, scolds her, keeps her at arms length, and infuriates Reyna. Their chemistry is off the charts and yet he resists.
There are a lot of politics and interactions going on in the Visage vampire world. There are three other vampires who are the head of the Visage company together with Beckham, and they are powerful and ambitious. There is some business with blood census and negotiations with the President that just sound like world domination. The other vampires are not kind, they feel dangerous and predators.
There’s a lot of tension and intrigue, and a pervasive sense of danger lurking around, hidden and silent. Beckham is involved in a fight for power and the other two vampires vying for position are ruthless, uncaring of who they harm. This book was so intriguing that it kept me reading until all hours of the night. It ends in a cliffhanger, and is part of a three-book series. You have to read it!!
My Thoughts – 5 out of 5 Unicorns – I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!
The cover is okay, but it doesn’t really say paranormal/vampires!
This is the first book in a new Vampire series, and it is the first time I’ve read anything by this author. This is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content! Also it does end in a cliffhanger which had me screaming because I wanted to know what happened next!
This world is very interesting and unique. I haven’t read anything quite like it before. Humanity is suffering, and Reyna is just trying to help her family the only way she can. This world twists and turns and keeps you guessing. I kept reading not quite sure what would happen next or if I would understand the implications of each new thing discovered. I still have a lot of questions about the vampires in this world as well as the politics. I like Beckham, but he definitely had some moments where I wanted to slap him. I need to know what happens to both Reyna and Beckham!
I high recommend to any Vamp fans who need a unique world that you haven’t seen before! I can’t wait for the next book!!
3.5 stars!
I’m honestly not sure how I feel about this book. It drew me in from the start and kept me there, but I honestly almost put it down quite a few times, because Beckham drove me a bit insane. He was sexy and alpha, but he was a very indecisive hero. While by the end of the story I understood why, I had already made my mind up. I ADORED Reyna. While she’s sweet, she’s feisty and stands up for what she believes in. Even if it made waves, she wasn’t going to bite her tongue.
The story itself was great. Like I said, it drew me in from the beginning and had me wondering what would happen next. This is definitely a good read, and I would recommend it. Just be prepared for wanting to throat punch the hero a bit…. (but keep in mind, he does redeem himself)
REVIEW: Still deciding…..
“Every journey begins with one step.”
I am aware it is rather odd of me to withhold a star rating until I have fully completed a series, but there is a reason with this one. Bear with me as I try to maneuver my way through my first Vampire PNR and how I felt about the story and the writing as a whole. And yes, you are reading that correctly: I, The Book Bee, read a PNR book with a vampire in it AND. I. LIKED. IT. Weirdly enough…I liked it a lot. I was completely drawn in to the story development and the different nuances this one had. However, as much as I liked it, I also had some issues with it. Not enough to push me away from reading more of the story; just enough that I felt I needed to mention them.
I am not a huge fan of third person; a lot of the time it’s because it’s just not written well. It doesn’t flow well for me, and sometimes it keeps you on the outside of the story, looking in – not really feeling a part of it. Sometimes my ability to connect with the characters is even inhibited. Unfortunately, such was the case with this book. In general, it felt very scripted for a good amount of the book before it started to flow. Maybe it was me needing to warm up to KA’s style of writing, or maybe it was the POV. I’m not sure, but being in that POV, it separated me from the actual emotions of the book and being in Reyna’s shoes. It did, however, allow me to watch everything happen from afar. Which, if I think about it, is probably what I needed since I have never read a book in this genre and I needed to experience this one a little differently.
Also, if I’m going to be nitpicky here, Reyna was obnoxiously irritating. Why? I am not entirely sure why she was, but she most definitely was. Her job, her desire for this change, and her reasonings behind it all made sense, but her actions disputed that sense. Some attitude was justified, but many of her childish rants and tantrums were just that: childish. She didn’t come off as strong and independent. She came off as bratty and immature. For someone who had nothing, she sure was ungrateful. I’m not bemoaning the fact that she had an attitude and rightfully so. Not at all. I just didn’t care for her character as a whole. She could almost be described as wishy washy. I wrote in my notes that she was “stubbornly wretched”. Her anger and rudeness were contradictory to some of her statements/actions, so I had a very hard time warming up to her. But again, she was going through something I can only imagine, so I had to dismiss her insufferable antics to get through some of the scenes. I realize she was in a situation she didn’t want to be in and I can totally recognize that. Even though I felt she was completely out of line in some aspects, if I had to put myself in her shoes, I would probably be a bitch too. {{just saying}}
“Beckham was an enigma wrapped in a mystery.”
That quote couldn’t be any more true. Was Beckham perfect? No. He was was so closed off and too controlled to allow himself to feel anything. But there was something about him that I needed to discover through this story. His reasoning….his why. I wanted to know what was going on with him and I loved seeing his control break and him losing himself with Reyna, no matter how brief it was. That ‘break’ is what I looked forward to. I didn’t necessarily feel their blooming love immediately though – it felt like it came out of left field. In the beginning, their relationship felt very clipped, almost forced. I was ‘told’ about this love long before I ever felt it, but I did eventually warm up to it and them and the book went a little more smoothly for me.
Having said all that, I know it sounds like I didn’t like this book, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Even though I had some issues, I did actually really enjoy the storyline. Having never read a Vampire PNR, it definitely made me want to read more in this genre, but I felt like I was overly picky because I was paying attention to every little detail. I liked the way this one was different than anything I’ve ever seen before (I can only compare to movies/tv series that I’ve seen – lame, I know), but I liked the vision K.A. Linde was affording me through her tale. Overall, this fantasy world had me turning the pages, because as irritated as I may have been, I was really curious as to where the story was going – I was genuinely intrigued. I may have struggled, but I couldn’t put it down and that is such an anomaly for me, but it also says something. I warred with myself between the writing and the storyline, but I have to say the storyline won out. I normally would have put the book down and walked away without looking back, but there was just something about it that really sucked me in. {{NO pun intended}} I’m very interested in seeing the outcome for Reyna and Beckham play out. I actually can’t wait to read more of this series, as well as some other Vampire/PNR books. I’m looking forward to BLOOD MATCH and BLOOD CURE.

P.S. to my review: The writing in this book was quite literally jarring. We get a sentence. Then a period. We get a reaction. Then a period. We get an action. Then a period. It was very awkward to read. Where are the conjunctions? Where are the commas and the embellishments? Lengthen those sentences. Make the words talk! Make them pop!! Don’t make them sit on a page, stagnant and not moving. The structure was almost elementary in form and it was quite distracting. I was told this was not indicative of her normal writing style; that this may be a publisher editing/indie writing difference. I can only hope.
This was my first ever PNR ready. I’ve just never been a fan of it but now OMG I Am !!! This story was unlike anything I expected. from beginning to end this story with capture you . It was sexier than I thought which I loved !!
