I was once again thrust into K.A. Linde’s world of vampires, mystery, and love. My heart pounded in anticipation of what was to come, and I couldn’t stop reading. Each word I was submerged deeper into the story until I felt as though I was living it. It’s beautiful, heartbreaking, full of heat, and an absolute must read.
If you love paranormal romance you need to read this book.
If you don’t like paranormal romance you need to read this book.
If you love angst, twists, and having your world be consumed by a story, you need to read this book.

Blood Type is an addicting novel that reminds me of Hunger Games but with Vampires and without the full game concept. It snuck up on me. I will admit that when I first started it, I wasn’t sure how it was going to go. It was a bit slow for me and I was mentally preparing myself for that. Then after a chapter or two, I realized that I was completely sucked in.
Reyna Carpenter is desperate to make a better life for her and her brothers. The economy is bust and she can’t find a job. Her brothers are working over time and they can barely make ends meet. So she finally makes the decision to go to Visage. A company that is ran and controlled by vampires. An organized blood donor company that provides vampires with humans to feed off of. What she didn’t expect was to be placed with a Sponsor who is a high official in Visage and offered a permeant place to live. While it seems like her life went from rags to riches, Reyna not only struggles to fit into this new world but her role with the powerful Beckham Anderson.
Reyna and Beckham has such a slow burn romance that I was constantly dying for more of them. It was clear that they were falling for each other but Beckham was doing everything he could to keep her at arms length away from her sexually.
“It couldn’t just be that you’re a man desiring a woman?” “No, it’s an animal enjoying the hunt. The monster within struggling to get out. Nothing More.”
I wanted to know more about how Vampires were controlling the world but I ultimately wanted Reyna and Beckham to fall in love. There are so many secrets and I thought that Linde did a great job with character development. Except for Beckham, I felt my skin crawling with some of the other Visage employees and I loved that.
If you like vampire stories, then I strongly suggest reading Blood Type. Along with the rest of Reyna’s human world, you’ll find yourself struggling between hating and loving the vampires. The struggle will be real and it will be delicious. I can’t wait to get my hands on Blood Match!
Linde has outdone herself, again! I have come to expect great and unexpected when it comes to KA Linde’s writing and Blood Type didn’t disappoint! Linde’s leap in to PNR was something I have been anticipating for a long time. With this leap, Linde brings a fresh, thrilling, and unique PNR story unlike any other! She brought her A game when writing this story. From the oh so sexy and broody Beckham to the beautiful but headstrong Reyna….any PNR lover or non-lover is sure to fall for everything about this story! This heart pounding, heart-stopping takes your emotions on a wild ride, you won’t want to get off of anytime soon. The only thing left to say? You want this book! Read this book and…I need more Beckham and Reyna ASAP!
In a world where vampires are the norm and in control of everything- a world that believes humans should register themselves as human, live, fresh blood escorts as they call them.
Beckham Anderson an all encompassing vampire who sits in one of the top spots for Visage a company on the forefront trying to make changes to the process of whom Vampires feed from. A perfect match is what they called it. A new project where a human is a permanent employee of there’s placed with a sponsor (Vampire) according to their blood type.
Reyna Carpenter a young girl that feels like a burden on her loved ones looking to help her brothers even if she has to resort to the last thing she wants.
Reyna sets off on a path that will bring her and Beckham colliding into a relationship they both try and fight. A fairytale of sorts where she has all the money she could ever want, always finding trouble and he is always her savior. A savior, a sponsor and a vampire that refuses to feed of her “his perfect blood type match”.
This is my first read by K.A. Linde and definitely will not be my last- I need more Beckham and Reyna.

Review:
I was pleasantly surprised when I read this book. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ve read a book by K.A Linde before and sadly I hated that particular book, therefor I was a bit hesitant to read this one. But I’m glad I did because I really liked it.
What is this book about:
Well the world has gone to shit. The vampires stopped hiding and took over the world. The poor became even more poor, and even the medium incomes became poor. People have to work hard and receive little. Reyna is one of those people, she cant afford to go to school and she won’t get hired because she doesn’t have an education. So in order to help her brothers she decided to apply for a job, a job that doesn’t require you to have an education. All it requires you to have is blood. You see the job Reyna is applying for is basically be a walking, talking, blood bag for a vampire. In Reyna’s case she was selected for a new job, become a permanent blood bag for a vampire who’s blood type matches with hers, Beckham.
You see vampires can drink anyone’s blood but it turns them feral. When they drink for their specific blood type it gives them the ability to think rational again.
So Reyna agree’s to become a live in at Beckhams.
It’s not what Reyna expected. She didn’t expect the vampire she have to work for to be so handsome, and she certainly didn’t expect him to ignore her and not feed from her. Somethings aren’t what they seem, is Beckham one of them or is he actually as cold as he appears to be.
What did I like about this book:
I liked the blood type concept. It’s one I haven’t heard before.
I liked Reyna but she was a bit weak at times. She repeated the same circle and was bordering at becoming pathetic at points. She would pin after beckham, he would show intrest in her, push her away, she would decide that she was done, but then the circle repeated it self. It became especially irritating, from beckams side as well, when it became clear that he has a girlfriend. That’s not oke dude. Beckham has some choices to make. And Reyna needs to learn to stand her ground
Overall I’m very curious to see where the story will go.
Rating:
4 1/2 I loved it Stars.
“He was plainly terrifying to behold, but also…gorgeous. Horrifyingly beautiful.”
Did someone say VAMPIRES?! They’ve been my weakness since 2009 when I picked up Twilight! *Don’t judge*
It’s been a few days since I finished it and GAHHH!!! It took me one day, legit, ONE DAY to finish this book and it feels like AGES since I’ve done something like this.
In the world created by Linde, Vampires rule and control and the Humans are living in poverty, barely making ends meet.
Living in a run-down neighbourhood, Reyna Carpenter needs money to help her two brothers out, so she does the one thing that she knows her brother will hate —signing up to be a blood escort at Visage, the largest corporation run by vampires, that places humans with vampires according to their blood type for them to feed off.
What Reyna didn’t expect was to be paired with Beckham Anderson, a powerful vampire and a top executive member of Visage.
Beckham Anderson, he is one of those characters that you would love to hate and hate to love but what I felt him was a little less than hate. It was more along the lines of dislike.
Now, he never did anything that would harm Reyna or put her in danger. He was quite the opposite of his “friends”. He would run away from Reyna to protect her but somehow Reyna always found her in trouble. He controlled his innate desire as a vampire and there were points in the story where you see him give into the “human” desires only to pull back and bring his walls back up.
While I was okay with some of Beckham’s decisions there some really, REALLY stupid decisions her made time and again and I really wish I could get inside the book and hit his head. *snort* Can you imagine hitting a vampire?
“Beckham, your girl looks like a dream, don’t you think?” Beckham had been staring off and away at that moment, but suddenly he snapped back to attention. His eyes landed on Reyna, and everything narrowed down to him.
Only him.
“A dream. A daydream,” he agreed. “And a nightmare.”
Regardless of their push and pull Reyna and Beckham make quite the amazing pair. They just need to stop making stupid decisions. Add to this mix the multiple side characters that you WILL hate, (apart from Reyna’s brothers) and a character that will take you by surprise, Blood Type was an absolute page turner for me.
To me, Linde has already proved to be amazing at writing PNR when she came out with The Ascension Series and with Blood Type, she is definitely branching out and totally nailing it.
“Beckham was not a shining prince on a white horse riding in to save her. The world they lived in was not a peaceful kingdom where all worries disappeared.”
The concept of Blood Type is fresh! I’ve never read anything that was set in such a world. There were times when I closed the book because I wanted to savour it and as freaking usual I went back to it again and again because I HAVE ZERO CONTROL!!!!
There is not a single slow moment. Honestly, there will be times like you feel the progress is slow but trust me, it’s not the case.
The push and pull, the slow burn, the building of the plot and THAT FREAKING CLIFFHANGER… AHHH!!! *pulls hair out*
I’m so glad I finally got the chance to pick this one up and now my only demand or request, whatever you would like to call it (lol!) — I. WANT. BOOK. TWO!
NOW!
4 Stars!
Read this book. Do it. Read it because it is AMAZING! Read it because KA Linde built a world that is so intense….so different than the typical PNR worlds I read. I love love love when an author thinks outside the box and creates something so magical and different. This is not a light and fluffy PNR read. It’s dark and gritty and luscious. It’s suspenseful, sexy and mysterious. The plot twists and turns and you never know where it’s going to lead you.
I need book 2 NOW….seriously….NOW!!

I have read some of K.A. Linde’s books (I loved the Record series) and when I saw she was writing a series set in a dark world with vampires and blood escorts, I couldn’t resist it, I just knew I had to read it.
This is the first book in this series, so there’s a lot of world/civilization details and I absolutely loved the world building, the descriptions, the dynamics between humans and vampires, everything was beautiful written and I could actually picture this unique world and its civilization in my head.
Vampires are ruling the world while most humans are extremely poor and struggle to survive, Reyna is 21 years old, she can’t get a job because she has no college education and she can’t go back to college because she doesn’t have the money for it. I think the best word to define Reyna is brave. She’s definitely very brave, she feels like a burden to her brothers, who work endless shifts so they can survive as a family, but they’re scrambling and Reyna knows it and for her brother’s sake she sacrifices herself… by getting a new job as a blood escort.
Beckham is a rich, big, brooding, hot, mysterious vampire, a top executive in Visage, the vampire company that pairs vampires to human blood escorts with the same blood type. Visage puts Reyna with Beckham and everything in her world changes. She has money, some freedom but she’s now moving in a whole different circle. A dangerous circle where trust doesn’t come easy and it can be fickle…
I won’t be giving away too many details, I can only say that I’ve read Blood Type in one sitting, I was immersed in this complex world and invested in Reyna and Beckham’s relationship. The push and pull, the amazing chemistry between them, all of the secrets that Beckham was keeping just added more tension and depth to their story. Honestly, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough! And then K.A. Linde hit me with an out of this world cliffhanger that left me screaming into my kindle… I have to say there was a thing or two that did bother me near the end (specifically, Beckham’s reaction to an event that led him to leave Reyna alone and Reyna’s reaction to Beckham’s, how can I put it without spoiling it, hmmm, momentary lapse of reason – you’ll get it if you read the book), and that made me lower the rating from 5/5 to 4/5 stars.
I highly recommend this stunning beginning to the Blood Type series and I can’t wait to get my hands on Blood Match because I’m dying to know what happens next!
I just know this will be one of my most favorite books this year. And the author was so accurate in her bloodbank details about blood types, even the rh null type. I wonder if she is a lab tech. The main characters were so hot. Reyna was very brave to sign up for being a blood courtesan for a vampire. She hates needles but went through testing for her brothers. They are all very poor and work morning to night and are still starving and live in a dirty unsafe warehouse district. The vampire she is assigned to is very scary but of course hot. He is also one of the very high up officials at the organization that she is now working for. This scares her even more, thinking he will really be an animal. But he never drinks from her. And did I mention, she has to live with him? He even sleeps in another room and doesn’t try for sex. She didn’t know exactly what to expect going in but she knew it paid a lot. After testing, she was told she would get double her salary. He also gave her a credit card with no limit on it. Every day she is drawn closer to him. But he is the biggest jerk, hardly talking except to yell at her or scare her somehow. She can’t understand why he doesn’t want her blood though. He almost acts like it disgusts him. Little does she know, it is the opposite because her blood type is such a rare type.
Through it all she has one friend she made in the valet who works at the building she lives in. He is also human. He gives her the ins and outs of the city. There are fighting factions like rebels against the company and vampires. And there are vampires who treat their blood courtesan horrible and beat them. There are even rogue vampires who just go around killing humans without even caring what type. Not drinking the correct type will make the vampire go mad. I’m dying to say more but I’ve probably said too much already. It does end on a cliffhanger but it is such a great book that it is worth it.
If you like audiobooks, the narrator is so amazing! I think she’s my new favorite! I swear there was a guy doing the male voices. Idk how she can sound so feminine and so male.

Reyna Carpenter finished school, but she can’t find a job. In this world ruled by vampires, her only asset is her blood. So, to ease the burden of her brothers who work long hours in a factory earning little money to support the three of them, she goes to Visage to sign up for the body employment services. In other words, food for vampires. Her brothers would throw a fit if they knew so she didn’t say anything to them. But when she’s there, she discovers she’s eligible for a new program, one where she doesn’t feed a vampire for a month then get time off before rotating to another vampire. This new program is being tested with the wealthy vampires first and she would live indefinitely with her Sponsor. Or until such time as she wanted out of the program or her Sponsor terminates the contract. It pays more, a lot more, so Reyna signs up. Her Sponsor is a top executive at Visage, Beckham Anderson. Beckham is powerful, rich and handsome, but he’s abrupt and acts like he doesn’t even want Reyna in his apartment. That’s when things get even weirder.
This is a fascinating if totally bleak world and it would have been a great story if Reyna and Beckham could have been written better. I really can’t stand Reyna. What a twat. And Beckham is a class A asshole. Sure, there’s some juicy stuff revealed later, but for the most part this story just lacks all around. The bad guys are the best part and I found the blood type thing incredibly interesting. However, it’s mostly blah and meh and, frankly, at times, pretty fucking dumb. I’ll take a pass on the rest of the series.
Four stars. I have mixed feelings about this book. It hooked me immediately, pulling me away from the other book I was reading (I’d downloaded the Blood Type sample to see if I wanted to buy the book while it was on sale). I loved the set-up: economic crash, humans are struggling. A vampire corporation conspires to take over the city. In desperation, to make ends meet, Reyna signs on with the corporation to become a blood donor to one of the highest ranking vamps in the city. But Beckham, frightening at first, soon captivates her attention, and she begins to crave more from than he’s willing to give (or, as the case is, to take. He won’t feed from her and she doesn’t know why). Throughout the story is there is delicious ongoing tension created by the vampire threat.
However…the heroine does a lot of stupid things, and never gets any smarter. Her last stupid thing at the end of the book creates a cliffhanger ending. (The Blood Type “series” is a serial). Beckham also does some stupid things that pushed believability beyond the boundaries (Ex: he’s says he wants to protect her, but he takes her places where he knows her life will be endangered). Although my eyes rolled, I kept reading and reading. So, it’s definitely a compelling story. I do recommend Blood Type for vampire romance fans AND for fans of Fifty Shades of Grey (it had the same tone and feel, although Blood Type is much better written).
This review is for an ARC and is my unbiased, honest opinion.
WOW!!!! I could not put this book down!!!! I think I read 68% in the first sitting. I took very few breaks to rest my eyes. I ended up putting the book down around 11 or 12 at night. My eyes betrayed me and wouldn’t let me finish the book….traitors. The next morning, I woke up bright and early…..keep in mind that I am NOT a morning person…..and finished reading. Gah…it was so good!!! I really enjoyed diving back into the paranormal romance world. It’s been so long since I’ve read one. I adore this genre and hoping it makes a come back like everyone is predicting.
It’s really hard to express my feelings on this one without giving anything away. I really enjoyed Beckham’s character. I could just see all the reasons for him going back and forth with his feelings. There was just something about Reyna that he couldn’t resist.
As far as Reyna goes…..this girl attracted trouble like nobody’s business. I think Reyna made some really stupid choices and decisions. It’s like she didn’t think past the initial decision into what could go wrong. She just wanted to do whatever she wanted and throw caution to the wind. I found myself wanting to slap some sense into her several times.
I liked the world building in this story. It was fun to get back into a vampire world and learn about this breed of vampires. I will say I wished we got to know more about the powers this world of vampires had. Not much was said as far as their abilities and disadvantages. I also didn’t care for a certain scene involving the Vault. When you get there, you’ll understand. As far as my rating goes, I’m going with 4.5 rounding up to a 5. Just a few minor things that I wish were different. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot wait to continue on with this series.
3.5 Star’s
I’m a huge fan of vampire romance and this story checked all the boxes!
Life changed years ago because of the inequality between humans and vampires.
Reyna and her brothers are struggling. They are part of the have nots. Reyna can’t even find a job because she can’t afford an education. Her only option is to work at Visage as a blood escort.
Reyna gets accepted and is offered a position as a permanent escort to a high level executive at Visage. Her life is about to be turned upside down.
Beckham is a vampire. Incredibly hot, aloof and all about control. He does not expect Reyna and he is unprepared for his attraction.
So many secrets and everyone seems to have their own agenda. The vampires feel they are above humans and want humans to serve them. The humans just want jobs, food and a safe place to live.
All the while Reyna is falling for the man she works for. He’s done his best to resist her, but not even he has that kind of will power. However, nothing is at it seems and secrets may just tear them apart.
A totally sexy and incredibly hot story. If you love vampires, it’s a must read! I cannot wait for book two since there is so much more story to be told.
I bought this book a couple of days ago and immediately have to get all three in the series. This author writes great characters especially the heroine. The other characters are well written as well and the story line was mesmerizing. I read a lot of paranormal stories, this has to be one of my favorites. I will definitely read other works by this author.
(4.5 stars)
I’ve been a fan of Ms. Linde’s since she made me fall for the number one ahole, Jack while reading Avoiding Commitment. I’ve watched her dip her feet in different genres. First with fantasy with the Ascension series and now PNR with Blood Type. I can say without a doubt I will read anything this woman writes. I won’t lie, I didn’t warm up to Beckham until the end of the story. I love a good jerk, but a vampire jerk LOL takes the cake. Believe it or not the vampires aren’t the scariest thing in this story. The scariest thing for me was how I could easily see our world turning as rock-bottom as this make-believe world….minus the vamps. With that cliffhanger of an ending I am super excited that this series will be released months apart.
Loved this series.
Story is super engaging. An interesting take on the Hunger Games, Twilight and 50 Shades. Readers who loved these book might enjoy this one.
Wish there had been an editor to make this book amazing. Skipped over too many parts that were repetitive or boring. However, the story makes up for it and it is still worth giving it a go!
This is a must read series, that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Really unpredictable lots of twists and turns
