A startling new vision of paranormal romance: When a human ventures into the world of vampires—a decadent milieu of blood-bonds and betrayal—she discovers that not all is what it seems. For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival. In a civilization laid waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite. … and hungry vampire elite. Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson. He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing—he won’t feed off her.
Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that, in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed.
For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of her.
Note: Reyna and Beckham’s story continues in Blood Match.

I had never read a story written by this author before and when I saw it on Netgalley, I figured there’s my chance. 2 things happened after I got approved. I realized that this was a paranormal that ended with a cliffhanger. I don’t read too many paranormals anymore and I don’t like cliffhangers. So I almost didn’t read it. Well I’m glad I did because this 5 star story had me hooked from the very beginning to the end.
Reyna is a very poor girl who’s trying to not starve. She wants to help her brothers in order to survive. She goes to Visage, where they employe humans to feed the vampire. She’s in a new project who will be matched with Beckham, a senior at Visage. What she didn’t expect is to fall in love with the silent, broody and cold man.
This was one amazing story and one that got me hooked from the very page read to the very last one. It was so addicting that I basically read it in a few hours. It was intriguing because there was always some surprises at every turns. A great plot that just got thicker and thicker. I can’t wait to read the book, Blood Match. I strongly recommend this story.
Gripping and original. An entertaining and engaging paranormal romance. Characters are complex, the storyline is involving, and the plot intense. Reyna is a human. She is capable and determined. I loved that she was strong enough to do what she had to do to survive. Beckham (Becks) is a vampire. He is intimidating, brooding and a definite hero that brings out powerful emotions in the reader, be it love or hate or even both at the same time. Together these two make a compelling couple, with great chemistry. Does end on a cliffhanger.
4.5 stars
Blood Type is absolutely a must read for the Vampire fan. It’s dystopian fiction at the next level.
Lusty thoughts and fear keep Reyna at a distance from the man she calls her Sponsor. She isn’t what everyone claims she is. She is just trying to help her family out. She is just trying to survive.
But all that is in jeopardy now…
Because Reyna thought it would be any easy job, disgusting but easy, and there is nothing easy about Beckham Anderson. Nothing easy about this life. Nothing easy at all.
The tension is electric in this book. The lust, fear, and blind trust are all pushing and pulling the reader in every direction. And when you are sure it can’t get better- when you are ready to lose your mind, K.A. Linde ends Blood Type.
And now I’m left hanging and panting and just waiting…
Waiting for more. waiting for answers. Waiting for the fairytale.
Blood Type by K.A. Linde is book One in the Blood Type Series. This is the story of Reyna Carpenter and Beckham Anderson.
In this book the Vampires are the top of the people chain and humans are more of the poor side of town. Reyna is a human who wants to help her poor family and goes forward to become a paid blood escort. Beckham is the VP of Visage and his attraction to Reyna is quick but not all is easy with them.
This book does end with a cliffhanger to set up their story for the next installment in this series.
Blood Type is a well-written, interesting story of a world where vampires are in control and most humans are living in poverty unless they’re willing to submit to those in power. The story is fast-paced and filled with danger, betrayal, intrigue, and even some steamy moments for our main characters. All of this should have easily made this one a four or even five star read and I did enjoy a lot of those things. However, my problems lay with the characters and their so-called romance. So much about Beckham and Reyna is a bit too close to Twilight – he’s the brooding vampire, determined to stay away from the weak human but just can’t seem to do that, and she’s the stubborn human whose blood smells way too good, and she seems to have an uncanny knack for running headlong into danger with no regard to the consequences, almost in spite of Beckham’s determination to keep her safe. The biggest problem is that this pair don’t quite pull it off. They lack that special something that would make me want to root for their happy ending. That may be in part to the fact that I never really warmed up to Reyna. She’s immature and her back and forth about Beckham grew tedious and frustrating. She’s throwing herself at him one minute, even when she thinks he’s otherwise attached, and pouting and hating him the next. There are some unpredictable twists and one whopper of a cliffy, but considering my feelings about this couple, I’m still on the fence about whether I’ll continue with the series.
