It takes a lot to scrub bad deeds from a man’s soul, but God, I’ve been trying.
All my efforts evaporate when I meet Delia. That woman has trouble written all over her, and she sucks me into the mud faster than I can throw a punch. Love has a way of blurring the lines, and Delia is igniting all of my old urges. I’m trying to be good, I really am.
The problem is, I kind of like being bad.

This book war a crazy, roller coaster ride of suspense and violence and crazy hot sex. Basically everything I look for in a great book. I loved the characters. I can not wait to read more about their stories. The storyline was fast paced and had me hooked from the very beginning. This was my first book by S. Massery and I can not wait to read more!
This was my first S. Massery’s book, and won’t be my last. This is the first book in the Broken Mercenaries Series, a great Romantic Suspense, with mafia and military aspects. I was hooked from the first page to the end. Delia and Jackson’s story is suspenseful, action packed, intriguing, filled with unpredictable twists and turns, secrets and mystery. Jackson is handsome, protective and supportive. Delia is a beautiful and strong character. They are great together, and they share a strong and sizzling chemistry. All the characters are great and well developed. There is a lot going on in this story. The ending is a great opening to the second book in the Series, Angel of Death. I loved it, and I highly recommend it! I’m looking forward for more books written by S. Massery.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

This book will keep you on your toes and possibly on the edge of your seat. You will also have moments where you are completely surprised. I loved every second of this book. It held my attention. Had the perfect amount of what the heck is going on and it reads like magic. This was a really good book you don’t want to miss.
4 STARS
What a great start to the Broken Mercenaries Series! I’m a newbie to S. Massery’s books, and I know that I’ll definitely be reading more.
I enjoyed how Jackson and Delia come together by mere happenstance and how their dark secrets unfold. Their story keeps you on the edge of your seat! The action, the suspense, the romance, and the sexual chemistry will captivate you. I can’t wait to read about the other ‘Broken Mercenaries’.
Blood Sky is a MUST read that will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ELITE!!!
S. Massery is a new to me author. She brings us a mafia style suspense starring Delia and Jackson. This story will have you hooked from page 1.
The characters were enjoyable and had great chemistry. This is the first book in her Broken Mercenaries series. The secondary characters she introduced will have you intrigued.
Blood Sky leaves you wanting more. I look forward to the next book in this series.
Delia was on the run, grieving, and was desperately trying to survive. When ex-military Firefighter Jackson found her attached to his back with a knife to his neck as he searched an abandoned house, it was the kick start to a fast and furious flight together.
This well written contemporary mafia based romance had all the elements of a great story.
Handsome hulky alpha male fighter, check. Damsel in distress with mafia ties and secrets, check. Chemistry and Passion, check, check, check.
All that along with a storyline that was filled with intrigue, suspense, betrayal and action. One great read!

This is book one in the Broken Mercenaries series and it is kicked off with a great story. Meet Dalia and Jackson. Delia’s father was murdered, she knows who did it as she watched, now she needs to bring these guys back up to the surface so she can seek her revenge and take them out. These enemies have her on the run and she wants to return home and take her father’s place at the head of her mafia family. Jackson was military man who has seen and done alot of things that haunt him. Jackson is trying to do good, live a clean life to reverse some of his inner demons that he is trying to escape. He is feeling some what successful until he crosses pathes with Delia. He feels drawn to her, he wants to protect her but she is trouble as what she needs will suck him back into his work hole of a past. If Jackson helps Delia, can she keep him grounded so he doesn’t lose himself? Good start for a new series, I am very interested on how it continues.

Blood Sky was an enjoyable read for me. I find mafia stories interesting because of the whole family dynamic and just everything that goes along with being in a mafia family. I enjoyed how fast paced this story was. It kept me on my toes for the entire story and had me guessing what would happen next. I do wish the love between Jackson and Delia didn’t develop so quickly though. I enjoy seeing the love between two characters grow and develop over the entire storyline. I don’t think there was a way to do that with this story since everything happened so quickly. I think Sara Massery did a good job with having Jackson and Delia develop their feelings for one another quickly and realistically.
I was definitely rooting for Jackson and Delia the entire story. They were perfect for one another. They both have dark pasts and dark tendencies, but I think they brought out the best in each other. They wanted to live normal lives that didn’t involve death and violence. Delia was never meant to be a mafia boss in my eyes anyway. I think she deserves more than that and I’m excited to see where life takes her (and Jackson) in the next installment. Jackson deserved to find someone who loved him too. Delia seems to help Jackson handle some of his anger issues and doesn’t judge him. Everyone needs someone to balance him or her out and I definitely think Delia and Jackson do that for one another.
Oh, I absolutely loved the secondary characters. For me, they helped make the story even better. The relationships between Dalton, Griffin, Zach, Mason, and Jackson was so interesting and entertaining to read about. I also loved how they included Delia in the mix because she’s with Jackson. They were all really funny guys and they truly cared about one another. The banter between them was fantastic and you could feel the love between the guys. I can’t wait to see who gets the next book!
Overall, I would rate this book a 4/5. I enjoyed the story, but would have liked to see a little slower development of the love between Delia and Jackson. It’s hard for me to believe two people who barely know one another could be in love after two months or so. I like the slow burn kinda love (totally a personal preference though!). I look forward to reading the next book to learn more about what’s going on in Delia and Jackson’s lives and what the other guys are up to. I also can’t wait to find out more about that little twist at the ending! Holy moly, what a good way to end the book! You are definitely going to want to read the extended epilogue too. Loved it! I’m looking forward to the next installment. I love discovering a new series to read 🙂 Now, to wait impatiently for the next book…
I received an ARC copy for my honest review of the book.
I don’t even know where to start with this review. Blood Sky was everything I didn’t know I needed and more. It was nonstop action from the first page to the last and is so different from all the other books out there.
Delia is without a doubt one of the strongest female characters I have read. To survive what she did – even though she had help along the way – is still pretty amazing.
And Jackson, I just love him. He’s so strong, smart, and intuitive. I know he learned a lot from his time in the military and Scorpion Industry, but in my opinion, you either have those skills or you don’t and the military and SI just draw them out and hone them. And boy did they ever come in handy while helping Delia.
I enjoyed meeting each of Jackson’s friends with their unique talents and personalities. And I’ll be counting down the days until the next book releases because that ending is going to be on my mind for months.
S. Massery was a new to me author before this, but I will definitely be reading her other books and anxiously waiting for the next book in this series. If you love action packed romantic suspense, I highly recommend this book.
Delia Moretti has come to her family’s old house in hopes of escaping those who murdered her family. Yet a forest fire interrupts her plans and now she must put her life in the hands of a stranger who gets her away from the fire.
Jackson Skye is working and evacuating people in the line of the fire when he stumbles upon a girl who puts up quite the fight leaving her house. She is worried about leaving but Jackson has no idea how much trouble she is in until a night at the motel and he realizes there is more to her than meets the eye.
As Jackson vows to keep Delia safe from whomever is after her, he knows he can’t do it alone and calls on the men who used to work with him at Scorpion Industries.
As both Delia and Jackson try to figure out who is behind the attacks on Delia they both need to deal with their feelings with one another and get over the past which is holding them both back.
This was such a good book and I can’t wait for more in this series!!
Delia is running from whomever killed her family yet at the same time she can’t figure out how she is always found so quickly. She is determined to bring down those who killed her family and take her rightful place leading the family in Las Vegas.
Jackson was once part of the Army and part of a secret group called Scorpion Industries that was brought into difficult situations but he has kept his distance the past few years when the group lost one of their own and he struggled with dealing with the loss. Yet he knows that they are the only people he can count on to find out who is after Delia and how they can be taken care of.
There was so much chemistry between Delia and Jackson and you could tell they were two wounded individuals who could either heal each other or be the downfall of the other.
I loved learning about “Blood Sky” and how that showed Delia what Jackson was really capable of. It was interesting to see that side of him and I knew I was happy that Delia had him. Yet that night brought a change as it brought Delia back into the fold and we were just waiting to see whose side everyone was on. The accident brought another mystery into the fold and I really hope Jackson was right.
Las Vegas brought out a few twists and turns that I was and wasn’t expecting. There were some things I wasn’t surprised about but other things definitely shocked me as the book went on. The warehouse was full of action and so many things I wasn’t counting on! The end of that incident left me very sad though.
The very end brought hope and I am so happy that I was right earlier on and I can’t wait for more in this series!

This book was such a different but great read. I mean different because even though our male lead, Jackson is totally a hero it is only in that he helps Delia become stronger! With him she finds that strength to do what needs to be done herself at times without Jackson necessarily having to do it for her. She is strong, has suffered tragedy but has a strong capacity for love. She has to believe in her own instincts even when that means facing thing head on by herself. She is faced with quite a few surprises and has to make some harsh decisions!
Jackson is a great male lead character in that he is there for Delia and understands her but he doesn’t try to control her or what she should do. He also has his own issues he is facing. Which sometimes doesn’t always give him a clear path on what he should do every step of the way.
These characters are so well written! This story is action packed and full of sizzle!
