Quinn Clearwater has a secret. She’s a vampire, but not the gory, creepy sort of vampire; the funny, kind-hearted art teacher with weird hair sort of vampire. Quinn’s been in New York for a decade but all that changes when her estranged mother dies suddenly and leaves her a quaint little house in a town she’s never heard of. But that’s not the only surprise waiting for her in Shady Pines.
Quinn quickly discovers more than she bargained for among the pine trees and fog in this enchanting small town in the pacific northwest. Shady Pines is full of unique artists, eccentric chefs and more than a few friendly vampires. Some of those vampires turn out to be related to Quinn and she quickly bonds with her heart-warming relatives.
With the only art teaching job in town already occupied by the charming and hunky Duncan Lopez, Quinn is forced to look for other employment, deciding to open the first art supplies store in town. But things turn sinister when she finds a dead body in her shop and the local police won’t take the case seriously.
Quinn takes the plunge to turn into an amateur sleuth and teams up with her sister, Miriam, a snarky local news reporter with an ex-wife, a quirky teen daughter Sophie, and a heart of gold. Can Quinn and Miriam solve the case before the killer strikes again?
This light, funny, cozy mystery offers a clean read with female amateur sleuths in a small-town setting, with some LGBT themes. No cliffhangers, no gore, no swearing or graphic scenes, just good clean cozy fun!

This was a new to me author suggested by a friend. I’m glad I took the suggestion & got the book. This is not your typical vampire story. I like the originality of the story, the fun quirky characters and the storyline. I can’t wait to see what’s next for the Clearwater sisters and their crazy vampire family. I look forward to reading more in this series!
I really enjoyed reading Blood Sisters. This is a fun, engaging book. I love the characters. They are quirky and relatable. There is a different take on vampires that I found interesting. I like the small town setting. The mystery has many twists to keep you guessing until the end. This is a great book to read. I look forward to reading more in this series.

This is a fun cozy about vampires. It finds Quinn Clearwater ordered to leave the life and job she loves in New York City because she’s been there too long. Since vampires age slowly, there’s worry that someone might notice that they haven’t changed over time. Her mother has recently died an left her a house in Shady Pines, Oregon, a vampire safe zone. Upon arrival, Quinn discovers in an inconvenient way that she has a sister and niece who are also living in her house. It’s a bit awkward at first, but Quinn and Meriam soon become best friends and do most everything together, including solving a murder and forced turning of a human into a vampire.
I absolute love Quinn. She’s more human than vampire, but she does like to drink her blood bags. Her plan is to open an art supply store in Shady Pines. Along the way, she learns that there seems to be a curse on the store, but she’d determined, despite a few incidents that might make a lesser woman change her mind.
Quinn also discovers that she has a previously unknown extended family composed of a grandmother, aunt, uncle, and cousins. Sunday dinners are mandatory, and always provide some surprises. She’s warmly welcomed into the family, especially by her Aunt Stacy, who loves to cook.
Shady Pines is home to a monthly cook-off, and Quinn and Marian decide to enter. Trying to create the unusual required dish proves to be a challenge. It’s a big deal in the small town, and Aunt Stacey has won the event at least eight times, so everyone must go all out to be the best.
This was a fun read. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.
A spooky supernatural cozy mystery. Vampires, baked goods, and quirky characters – what more could you ask for?
Follow Quinn and her sister Miriam as they get into all sorts of hijinx solving the the town’s murder. Shady Pines is a lovely town and the Clearwater family is definitely one you’ll want to be part of.
A fangtastic new cozy mystery series! The family dynamics among this family of vampires is inspiring to us all. Deep love and forgiveness abounds. Of course they have had many more years than us humans to perfect family harmony. I really enjoyed the bits of unique vampire mythology within the story, If you want to know more, then read this highly enjoyable book!
