Not just a thriller
This is one read I thoroughly enjoyed immensely. Aria’s story captured my attention from the first line and held it until the last word. I was fascinated as her personality transformed and grew out of her fears. Aria and Trent were both intriguing and complex. The author did a remarkable job describing them.
This book is not only a very well-written thriller that keeps the reader glued to the page, but it’s also full of human emotions that are beautifully written. This is a definite five stars must-read book that I’d highly recommend.
This is a pumping page turner. Aria has had some horrific things happen to her and his constantly dogged by her own role in them, whether real or imagined. It’s made it hard for her to move on. When a sinister figure approaches her at her job, she immediately connects him to her past, but she can’t figure out how he could know the things he says he knows. Aria has a burgeoning relationship with Trent but they both find it difficult to get past the things that have happened to them.
I flew threw this book, really wanting to find out what was going on. I found Aria’s attempts to make sense of a brutal world really compelling. I was gut wrenched from the start when she went against her own instincts in going back with her ex-boyfriend and I really enjoyed how her sense of self evolved through the story.
If you like gritty thrillers, this is for you. The opening chapters are compelling, setting the scene extremely well, giving a background and purpose for Aria’s story and growth. The author describes the tiniest of details about her characters and scenes in such a way as to give extra depth and realism to the plot. There are a number of detailed descriptions of violence in the book, so be warned, but I felt these were essential to the plot and development of the characters, and the book would have been weaker without them.
Highly recommended.
I was absolutely taped to the pages of this book. I rarely read these kinds of stories as I simply prefer Fantasy, but something about this one caught my interest and maybe it was the utterly saturating style of this book or maybe the twisting of stories within the story that appealed to me, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Aria is so plausible. She is both a victim and a hero, and so well-written that I felt like I knew her fears and hopes like my own. This book is vivid in every respect, it has gutwrenching suspense, mystery and murder – and even if you don’t usually read this sort of thing, I urge you to give it a go. Someone should make this into a film.
Excellent story telling by J Conrad – a gripping thriller.
Ok, from the off set I have to say I don’t normally read thrillers or horrors, and for good reason, they scare me and I can’t sleep. I only picked this up because it was recommended to me, as soon as it started I was like ‘Oh no, this isn’t for me’ this is not a story for the faint-hearted. But… what makes an excellent story teller? I believe it is the ability to keep the reader turning the pages no matter what, and that is certainly what this author accomplished in this book. I had to keep reading despite my initial dismay, nay shock. Bravo, and hats off to J Conrad for making this gripping thriller un-put-downable! ps I was very glad I stayed to the end, very satisfying ending.
A wonderful story that has me captivated and turned into a real page turner. The story revolves around Aria, who breaks up with her boyfriend but then get paid a visit from his older brother claiming she was sleeping around and decides to rape her, but that doesn’t end well for him as Aria kills him. Aria is great stricken and end up dating her for a few years. After breaking up with her boyfriend again, he snaps and kidnaps her and her step mom, where he beats, rapes and torture her. All this happens within the first few chapters!
The story has many twists and turns as well as secrets that has Aria questioning her own sanity as the ghosts of her past seem to be haunting her in different ways, many will keep you guessing as well. I highly recommend this one
