Maria planned to become the Mayor of Austin, Nevada but she didn’t expect to get the position by default. As the Interim Mayor, she must meet the local alpha, Derrick. Sparks fly and the imprint bond threatens to destroy everything she has worked for. In her mind a Mayor can’t be compromised and being the alpha’s mate would do just that. Choosing between her career and the alpha will be the … hardest choice she has to make.
Being the alpha, Derrick needs to find a mate and have children to pass the alpha gene. When the imprint connects him to a woman who doesn’t want to settle down he must find a way to convince her otherwise. When secrets about Maria’s family pop up, Derrick must keep his cool so Maria will stay safe. Neither his wolf or his human side will let Maria go without a fight.
***This book does standalone, but they’re better when read in order.***

I enjoyed this book but I think it could have benefited from a little more character development. Maria and Derrick are imprinted almost immediately after meeting on her first day of being the mayor. There are some interesting twists to the plot and both the H and h are likeable.

This story is extremely good. It is very fast paced. Excitement all around. Things going on on all sides. And an Alpha who loves his mate very much and is very happy with her. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
The Alpha and the Mayor
Maria, is a curvy petite women with big ambitions, and an over protective family. Her dream of becoming mayor of her small town happened unexpectedly when the current mayor is arrested. Her first day on the job takes a turn when she meets Derrick, the local werewolf alpha, and imprints on him.
Derrick is thrilled to have finally found is mate. He can’t wait to bond and fill his house with kids. Their get to know each other dinner gets out of hand and Derrick bonds her with out explaining what had happened. Meeting her family turns into a disaster. Maria learns her mother is a decedent of the wolf-witch coven. Maria starts to show magic.
Alia helps Maria adapt to her new reality. A witch mate to the Alpha and if she chooses to be a witch wolf. Trouble is coming. There is a plot against the paranormal community and Maria has just become a target. Her use of magic brings the seekers. Her mother goes missing and she finds her oldest brother has been keeping secretes, his betrayal rocks the family.
Fast paced and steamy wolf witch romance. Liked Derrick and Maria’s story, though Maria comes off immature for having been vice mayor. A nice epilogue to wrap up their story. Liked Maria’s cousin Debora, hope she gets a story.
Maria is a strong independent woman that has her sights set on becoming Mayor. All that changes after she meets Derrick the town Alpha. Their journey has several twists and turns that keeps you flipping the page for more. Highly recommend this book along with all the books prior in the series.
Book three in the Legend series and is a well-written story I would say to read these books in order even though they can be read as a standalone. There is suspense, drama, a mystery, corruption a book that will keep you guessing what is going to happen. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Maria had wanted to become mayor, but not particularly this way with the current mayor being arrested for selling drugs! But at least interim major was a step in the right direction! She cleared out Frank’s old pictures and sorted through the files his secretary left on the desk. She had a meeting coming up with Derrick Holtin, alpha of the local pack. She felt very attracted to him, but her career was very important to her, so a man didn’t matter right now. As they finished their meeting, she was about to shake his hand when she remembered that males did not want to touch unknown females in case they imprinted – which meant they were mates. He warned her what would happen, and her fingers lightly touch his forearm. The telltale buzz of electricity told them the truth! They now had 3 days to complete the bond. But before he could claim her, the Police Chief arrived to talk with her. Derrick growled at him as he left the office.
It appeared that the old mayor had a team investigating other supernaturals that had not made themselves known to the public yet as wolves had. He had pictures of vampires and a witch, along with Derrick and his second, Owen, in the file. Maria showed them to Derrick when he came to pick her up after work.
Maria tried to introduce her family to Derrick, but her mother went into a rage asking if they imprinted and if they bonded. Maria and Derrick left and went to the alpha’s house where a lightbulb exploded when Maria got upset. Apparently she was a witch and her parents had been hiding her powers through the use of tea. Now she had a choice whether to be trained in magic or to give it up entirely. In addition, she was still unaware that she had bonded with Derrick. What decision would she make about her magic? Would she leave Derrick for not being truthful with her? She still thought she had to choose between him and the mayor’s job; would she choose to leave him and focus on the job instead? And what would she do when she found out her own family’s secret?
This was an enjoyable book. Maria had so much change coming at her all at once, yet she seemed to handle it surprisingly well. Derrick was supportive of her and tried to help wherever he could as she adjusted to the supernatural becoming part of her life. The story line involved a mystery, suspense, corruption, and a building romance. The pacing worked well with the story line and kept the reader’s interest. Grab a copy and see how it all works out for everyone!
From the very first page I was totally engrossed as each page was turned of the great storyline which hooked me right in and the characters were so well detailed that my attention was captured until the turn of the very last page!
