I needed to listen to another kind of audiobook and I have a lot of variety. This was very different for me about Mel Morgan who is a Master Teleporter. She can move through the Veil into the otherworldly planes. A handy skill when looking for missing people. It’s a lonely job. I had to smile when I heard that she has a gargoyle partner, Mel get a job from a super hot Djinn that walks into her life and asks her to find someone he loves. Mel can never say no to someone in need and would have never guessed all the things she does.
I have been provided with a copy of Blood Magic by the author for an impartial review. I really enjoyed this book so much was going on that it kept you interested throughout the entire book and I hated when I turned the last page. I fell in love with the characters and I can’t wait to read more about them.
Very interested in seeing how this couple from different sides of the track come together.
I loved T.G. Ayer’s DarkWorld SkinWalker series, so it’s no surprise that I quickly glimmer on to Blood Magic, the first of the author’s new SoulTracker series, which is a spinoff and also set in the fantastic multiverse created for the DarkWorld series (though this series can standalone so you don’t have to read that series first, even if you’d be missing something grand). You gotta love any story involving gargoyles, demons, sorcerers and Djinn – or a take-no-prisoners snarky feisty heroin like Mel Morgan who, oh yeah, just happens to be a Master Teleporter capable of moving through the “Veil” into the otherworldly planes (and is wickedly powerful). This is a great adventure with wonderful writing, some neat twists and turns and a fabulous cast (I especially liked Saleem the Djinn). Really this is a superb series start of what I can already tell is going to be a new addiction. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
I’m currently reading the fourth book of the series. I enjoy modern supernatural or fantasy. This series is light fast reading. Good characters and interactions, action.
Blood Magic is the first book I have read from Author T.G. Ayer and I can confidently say I have found a new 5 Star Author to one-click! To say that I loved this book is an understatement, I could not put it down – which is something I do not find often. I normally only get about 30 min of reading in daily before falling asleep but this book had me turning pages into the early morning hours. Mel is a Master Teleporter who tracks missing people. She is such a relatable female lead. I love that she is strong yet vulnerable. She has a huge heart and will protect anyone she knows to the fullest of her abilities. This book laid the groundwork for the series perfectly. It introduced the reader to Mel, her besties, her mentor, her adversaries & her love interest. It is a fast paced read filled with non stop action. It is a story in itself but there are unanswered questions that I NEED to know the answers to so I am grateful to already have Book 2!! I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good paranormal thriller
Blood Magic is an exhilarating introduction into the DarkWorld: Should Tracker series by T.G. Ayer. It grabs you from the get go. It’s an action-packed fast-paced mystery that keeps you on your toes. I couldn’t put it down.
I throughly liked the idea, mystery, and scenarios that played out in this story along with the supernatural twists.
Mel, I liked. Her character was easy to connect to. She’s enjoyable, appealing, can get out of most situations, magical, capable, and has some great friends plus a background that is just beginning to be told. She is strongly dedicated to what she does and won’t give up on those she made promises too. She puts everyone before herself and her abilities are unique and rare. Those abilities that she has where very intriguing. It just added to Mel’s uniqueness.
The secondary characters where captivating. I really enjoyed her little gang she has and the love interest that shows up. It was fascinating to find out what and who this love interest is. Though we have a love interest and these awesome friends, our main focus is on solving the mystery and rescuing a little girl.
We do get a few questions answered, yet more questions come up. The ending left me wanting the next book now, so I could dig deeper into the mystery that is left open and those questions still unanswered.
A few things did bother me. Her abilities or at least one was to be a secret, yet I felt everyone knew about it. I also felt like to many things where left open. To many questions at the end.
Blood Magic is a riveting urban fantasy full of mystery that keeps you guessing. I had a delightful time reading and can’t wait to get my hands on book two and find out what happens next.
