Nevada Barr has a wonderful series starring Anna Pigeon, tough park ranger…and this story set in Glacier National Park and starring grizzlies, was riveting. I learned more about bears and though the plot kept me flipping pages and I was lucky enough to be camping in Glacier while I read it, it made me LESS scared of grizzlies rather than more.
As always, humans are the nastiest animals on the planet. I’ll be reading more of this series!
A new adventure for Anna Pigeon. This time she’s back in her beloved west at Glacier National Park. I loved the descriptions of the park. I had been there but for one day only and I took the bus tour to see as much as I could in the short time I had. I realize I totally missed out after reading the descriptions of the park. For Anna, this time it’s bears. Not a creature to mess around with. Or the murderer who seems to know what Anna is doing almost before she does.
Awesome read
Even though I am still reading this book, I feel that it is important with what’s happening in our country today, Before Nevada Barr became a writer, she was a National Park Ranger in our National Parks and that to me makes what one reads even more real because you know that the author has experienced of what she writes. I try to introduce new writer’s that hopefully one might enjoy. It was a happy ending, and I recommend it highly especially if you have been to Glacier National Park. If you like it, each of her books depicts a National Park
Thoroughly enjoyable series. I learned more about the national parks through Ms. Barr’s books than I would have from brochures. Great characters with believable personalities.
I enjoy being in the park with her. I often can picture the places she describes because I’ve been there.
Nevada Barr is always fun yet suspenseful. This one rated in the middle for me.
I love ALL of Nevada’s Anna Pigeon books! Cannot recommend enough!
I have read many Anna Pigeon books and liked them a lot. This one was so boring, I didn’t finish it.
Another outstanding National Park adventure by Nevada Barr. Her ability to evoke the local atmosphere and her knowledge of park procedures and research projects are unbeaten. Each of her novels is unique and original.
Nevada Barr is the best!
I’ve read several books by Nevada Barr and they are not all the same story in a different setting. Great story. Unexpected ending. Very enjoyable.
Another great Anna Pigeon mystery. The culprit lurks in plain sight. Ranger Pigeon’s agile mind meets some of the frustrations of a maturing body. She still is far beyond the rest of us.
Great read – I love Anna Pigeon and all her adventures!
Did not like. Did not finish. Could not get “into” it.
I’m a fan. I have read all of her books, It’s a mini vacation at a national park mixed and entwined with a good mystery. Who could ask gor more!
Another great mystery set in a beautifully described location.
Another good Anna Pigeon. Harder for me to get into this one, but still up to par.
Nevada Barr is one of my favorite writers. I have read all of them. I can not lay them down.
I love all of Ms. Barr’s works featuring park ranger Anna Pigeon. They are set in our national parks and they are all different as they feature different wildlife such as wolves or bears or even endangered turtles. This book focuses on grizzly bears and the way to prevent confrontations with them and how to survive one. The books are interesting; they always involve danger from wildlife or people and Ms. Pigeon is always experienced and knowledgeable about how to handle herself and how to get others out of danger. I haven’t read a single one of these books I haven’t liked. They are always a great read.
Nevada Barr does not disappoint. Excellent book.
