Astasiya Davenport’s best friend is dead. No, not just dead–murdered. Burned alive. Decapitated. And the only one who can help her figure out what happened is a demon masquerading as a billionaire playboy.
Because that happens in real life.
Yet Astasiya has always known the supernatural exists. Not the kind in fairy tales or happily-ever-afters, but the kind that kills.
Issac Wakefield knows … kind that kills.
Issac Wakefield knows the rules–when you find a fledgling immortal in the city, you kill her. Except Astasiya intrigues him with her uncanny abilities, marking her as too useful for death.
With revenge on his mind, he strikes up an agreement with her instead, one that’ll benefit them both. But as complications arise, secrets unravel, initiating a lethal game that threatens both of their lives.
Loyalties will be tested.
Bonds will be made.
And a forbidden love will rise.
Welcome to the Immortal Curse world, where angels and vampires are redefined and Seraphim reign.

“What are you wearing under this dress?” he asked, his mouth brushing hers, the words whisper-soft.
Not what she expected him to say. “E-excuse me?”
His teeth sank into her lower lip, making her yelp. “Focus.”
On what? The demon club? The humans dying downstairs? The fact that you’re a fcking vampire? Where should I begin?
He sighed, his forehead falling to hers. “Astasiya, we have very little time to sort this before the Conclave. I need you to work with me. Both our lives depend on it. What are you wearing?”
She cleared her throat, her hold on his neck tightening as if needing his support to respond. And maybe she did. This was all a lot to take in. “A, uh, thong,” she managed to say. “And a strapless bra.” Both black and lacy, but she didn’t add that part.
One of his hands drifted from her hair to her waist, then down to her ass. His palm flattened and forced her to arch up into him. A breath hitched in her throat at the feel of his growing arousal.
He’s turned on… here… now?
She trembled, the heat of his body seeping into her cool skin, warming her blood. They were standing rather close. And he smelled amazing, as always.
Anywhere else, in the dark, she’d have kissed him.
But here…
“The dress will have to stay, then,” he said, the disappointment evident in his voice.
She frowned. “What’s wrong with my dress?” It hit her midthigh and clung to her curves. She looked good in it.
He ignored her, his mouth brushing hers in a chaste kiss as his hips pressed firmly into hers.
Definitely aroused.
“You’re going to see things tonight that will make you want to scream, but you must remain calm and quiet. Mortals who overreact die, and they die badly.”

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
If you are looking for chance to enter a world full of paranormal/supernatural creatures that are part of normal world then look no further then this gem by Foss. We meet Stas who has a giant secret that she has to keep from pretty much everyone. This becomes an issue when she finds her best friend murdered with a strange guy outside as well as two men in the apartment. What follows is one revelation after another as she tries to make sense of everything and figure out who she can really trust. Lots of twists as well as a steamy romance to keep you going. Perfect for fans of paranormal romantic suspense. I loved it so I give it 5/5 stars and am really looking forward to reading book two.
Wow!!
I adored this so so much, it was just such an imaginative and fascinating beginning to this series and one that I am most definitely on board and invested with all the way.
This author whilst relatively new to me has managed to pull it out the bag once again, this is the third book I have read by her and each one has managed to captivate and entrall from start to finish.
Definitely auto-buy for me now and I can’t wait to see what she manages to bring forth next.
So, as usual, the world building here was up there with the best I’ve experienced to date and as an added incentive here the writing manages to drip-feed you into this fantastical world without confusing or totally overwhelming: very impressive undertaking indeed as the world is so vastly immense and intricate.
Each instalment in this series focuses on one couple, but there is an ongoing story arc that makes this a series that you will need to read in order if that makes sense.
This is actually a really hard premise to describe briefly but the short version to this is there are two opposing factions of supernaturals the Ichorians and the Hydraians who though currently at a ceasefire and a tentative declaration of a truce are actually on the brink of war breaking out.
Anastasiya Davenport and Issac Wakefield are somehow caught up in the middle of this conflict.
Obviously, there is a lot more to this than what Ive outlined here but that’s the bare bones of it.
So characters: I adored the relationship dynamic between Anastasiya and Issac and the almost slow burn build up to there affair.
Though of slow burn in nature, this didn’t miss out at all from that fact as there was plenty of sensual heated buildup provided to the main event.
The connection between these two was off the charts and projected off the page itself with its compelling intensity and I could feel their particular bond right down to my very bones themselves.
I also really did like Issac as a character and all his darlings and loves towards Anastasiya I found to be so incredibly charming indeed.
I especially appreciated Issac’s ability to allow Aya to be her own person and make her own decisions regardless of how they impacted on his personal fear for her safety.
He respected her right to make her own choices which was refreshing.
Anastasiya I also liked but she could be a trifle naive in nature trusting a tad to blindly, she did get there eventually but always seemed to take the scenic route along the way.
In conclusion, this was a series that started with a massive bang and though we get some closure offered here there are still plenty of answers I’m waiting on to be revealed at a later date.
I for one can’t wait to delve and explore deeper into this fascinating landscape we have been shown here.
This one gets my five-star seal of approval it was a fantastic experience that I recommend highly.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of “Blood Laws (Immortal Curse #1)”.

I was recommended this book by a trusted friend, and boy am I glad. This is a series starter that I will definitely be continuing with. I’m fussy when it comes to PNR, but this book exceeded all my expectations.
Great characters, amazing world building, a really original and imaginative storyline. What more could you ask for?
This novel is a fantastic start to a series, which is right up my street. It has all one could expect from a Paranormal Romance story. The order in which Lexi presents the rules and limitations of the societies and the introduction of the characters in them keeps one in high suspense. The unexpectedly desired heroine becomes a complication for the irresistible billionaire playboy when their connection is unwilling to be broken despite its costs. As the heroine Stas loses friends and her freedom she decides to fight against evil and the very forces that have been viewed as her family, she decides to work as a double agent. This is an intriguing twist where the reader is indulged by the torturing feelings of Isaac’s worry and lack of respect as he bends every rule of the species’ treaty to keep Stas safe. Isaac and Stas’ bond and banter is invigorating and embed the reader in a feel-good flirtation play. This is a very enjoyable read that I highly recommend to any romantic person searching for a sore heart.
The world Lexi has created of supernaturals is fascinating and instead of using the traditional vampires and werewolves, she has invented an entire set of her own creatures. This element is interesting as it is not obvious as to how they will react or what ability they possess. All the characters have different abilities that spin and twist the plot around in ways that are unexpected for the reader and tricky to overcome for the hero. The fact that the heroine is stubborn and has her own strong will doesn’t help him and is yet another amusing factor of their relationship.
It immediately captivates you as it starts with the murder of a dear friend of Stas. She meets Isaac, who you learn is surprised with the fact that she can see him although in general no one should. Already here, I knew I would not put this story down. The murder then goes on to reveal supernatural signs as the cause of the death as inspected by the two at the scene. The description of the science and the characters is made clear and the adjectives Lexi uses to describe someone’s way of being is very imaginative and fresh.

This is a fantastic book and start to a series! The writing is great, the characters are amazingly well written and developed, their story and their powers. The tangle that Stas finds herself in is utterly brilliant. Lexi C. Foss had me sucked into the story from the very start and I was 100% entertained all the way to the end! The star-crossed lovers angle is a well known and used one but the paranormal twist is a completely original one. I love all the characters, the storyline, the powers, the new take on vampires and this new type of immortal. The action, intrigue, love, friendships and everything in between. All of it together equals one hell of ride through this first book, which makes me extremely excited for what the rest of this series has I store!
*Received copy in return for honest review, all opinions are my own and I was not compensated for this review*
What a great introduction into this world. I couldn’t seem to put down this series once I started.
Stas has always felt different from the average human. She has a psychic ability that bends people to her will with a simple command. She’s always thought she’d been able to hide out in New York after her parent’s death, but when her best friend is murdered in a similar fashion her parents were, she knows that their murder was no simple mistake.
What starts out as a simple deal to find out more about the power she seems to posses opens a completely new world for Stas that she could’ve never imagined and a forbidden romance that has absolutely no future.
While this book is considered complete, I said this was a cliffhanger because there are many more questions left unanswered about Stas and her past that the reader doesn’t discover in this book. At the end we also understand that Issac and Stas’s relationship is completely forbidden and will never progress from what they have, at least until Stas embraces her heritage and her immortality.
Astasiya, Stas, meets a sinfully sexy man. Unfortunately, that’s also when she discovers her friend murdered. Isaac doesn’t know what to do with the beautiful blonde. After learning more about her, he starts feeling well feelings for her.
What a fantastic start to a pnr series. Blood Laws grabbed me from the start, I loved it and I highly recommend it!!
Anastasiya (Stas) knows she’s different but is trying to fit in whilst keeping her secrets following a traumatic childhood.
Isaac is an Ichorian – immortal, sexy, mysterious and dangerous, intent on revenge for the death of his sister. Stas is warned to stay away as all is not what it appears, but she wants answers and the more she gets sucked into his world the more she finds she has to learn to trust him. The lines between friends and enemies start to blur.
This is a gripping read, the type of story that sucks you in, then makes you beg for more at the end. Lexi C Foss is a talent to be sure, her world building, character development and story telling are addictive and oh the sexy scenes are hot hot hot! Although it ended in a satisfying way for one part, there is a cliffhanger that I’m sure will lead straight in to book two. I can’t wait to get my hands on it. Five gripping, sexy stars!!
This was such a fantastic PNR. Stac and Isaac are just awesome, I loved them. This book ends on a cliffhanger, so be ready to be left hanging and needing the next in the series ASAP. This is a story about 2 different worlds that have their own sets of rules that could mean death if the rules are broken. However, after Isaac gets to know Stas, those rules mean nothing. He will do whatever it takes to keep her safe!!!!!!!
LOVED this book!!! What a fantastic series, with an intriguing storyline and unique, fascinating characters!! Isaac is my new book boyfriend, sexy as heck. This is a must read book, believe me, you will love it!!!
I enjoyed this immensely! It was different and kept me reading until I was done! Its not a short book either. The blurb was intriguing and it was exciting from the start. I have to admit Issac was A LOT to take! I wasn’t sure I liked him that much to be honest. One moment you liked him and the next your cursing him! By the end I really loved him though. I do wish we knew a little more about him as a person. He can be quite cold sometimes but considering how old he is and what he’s dealt with in his life it fits. He had 1 gift but I knew he was deadly and I would have liked to have more about that. Like was he a warrior what he was trained in etc. It was glossed over a little. Thats ok though it didnt take away from the story. Just something I thought of after reading the book. I loved Stas. She’s a strong woman and honestly took everything that happened to her quite well. Oh there were times she freaked the heck out but she put on her big girl panties and dealt with it. The ending….I wanted it to end a little better. Its not a HEA but HFN and the series is going on so hopefully we get more. Enjoyable read and I recommend!
Seductive, sexy, and suspenseful! I loved it! I enjoyed this new world full of dangers. The concept was interesting and I liked all the different powers that the characters were capable of. I can’t wait to learn more. I really loved the characters and how their grew along their journey and their chemistry was sexy. I look forward to seeing what happens next.
Now this…this is PNR done right!!!! Smart, Suspenseful and Entertaining as hell!!!
It’s been a bit since I’ve read PNR and even longer since I’ve read one as well written as Blood Laws. It ticked every one of my picky reader boxes and sent me straight into reader nirvana. Everything, from the world building, pace, plot, characters, to the romance was on point. Add in some humor, non-stop suspense and a twist I didn’t see coming, and this author earned herself a class A stalker. I had no clue who Lexi C. Foss was until a few days ago and she damn sure didn’t know who I was. Well……that situation has since been rectified. 😉
I loved that this plot and this world weren’t spoon fed to the reader. It required some brain power and active reading to piece it all together that only served to make me even more invested in the story and heighten the suspense. But best of all, the romance was on point. This couple is mature, straight forward and snarky as hell. No stupid miscommunication leading to pointless drama. Stas and Issac were a breath of fresh air and the obstacles in their relationship came from real world issues. Well, as real as you’re gonna get in a paranormal world but you get what I’m saying. The story and the characters stood on their own, without needing trumped up BS to add drama.
It is obvious that this author took her time to develop a story, characters and a world that are worthy of her readers! Kudos! And thank you my friend who pointed me in this author’s direction. Muwah!
