Astasiya Davenport’s best friend is dead. No, not just dead–murdered. Burned alive. Decapitated. And the only one who can help her figure out what happened is a demon masquerading as a billionaire playboy.
Because that happens in real life.
Yet Astasiya has always known the supernatural exists. Not the kind in fairy tales or happily-ever-afters, but the kind that kills.
Issac Wakefield knows … kind that kills.
Issac Wakefield knows the rules–when you find a fledgling immortal in the city, you kill her. Except Astasiya intrigues him with her uncanny abilities, marking her as too useful for death.
With revenge on his mind, he strikes up an agreement with her instead, one that’ll benefit them both. But as complications arise, secrets unravel, initiating a lethal game that threatens both of their lives.
Loyalties will be tested.
Bonds will be made.
And a forbidden love will rise.
Welcome to the Immortal Curse world, where angels and vampires are redefined and Seraphim reign.

“What are you wearing under this dress?” he asked, his mouth brushing hers, the words whisper-soft.
Not what she expected him to say. “E-excuse me?”
His teeth sank into her lower lip, making her yelp. “Focus.”
On what? The demon club? The humans dying downstairs? The fact that you’re a fcking vampire? Where should I begin?
He sighed, his forehead falling to hers. “Astasiya, we have very little time to sort this before the Conclave. I need you to work with me. Both our lives depend on it. What are you wearing?”
She cleared her throat, her hold on his neck tightening as if needing his support to respond. And maybe she did. This was all a lot to take in. “A, uh, thong,” she managed to say. “And a strapless bra.” Both black and lacy, but she didn’t add that part.
One of his hands drifted from her hair to her waist, then down to her ass. His palm flattened and forced her to arch up into him. A breath hitched in her throat at the feel of his growing arousal.
He’s turned on… here… now?
She trembled, the heat of his body seeping into her cool skin, warming her blood. They were standing rather close. And he smelled amazing, as always.
Anywhere else, in the dark, she’d have kissed him.
But here…
“The dress will have to stay, then,” he said, the disappointment evident in his voice.
She frowned. “What’s wrong with my dress?” It hit her midthigh and clung to her curves. She looked good in it.
He ignored her, his mouth brushing hers in a chaste kiss as his hips pressed firmly into hers.
Definitely aroused.
“You’re going to see things tonight that will make you want to scream, but you must remain calm and quiet. Mortals who overreact die, and they die badly.”

So I sat myself down this morning and gave myself a stern talking to…am I crazy, why on earth did I wait so long to start this series!!?
I want to start off by saying this is my first book by the very talented Lexi C. Foss and it definitely won’t be the last. The masterful world building and intricate threads of the story line are so seamlessly woven together you can’t help but find yourself totally captivated. There’s a perfect amount of ‘edge of you seat’ suspense and hot as hades sexy time, all of which add to the story and move it along at a ‘can’t stop now’ pace!
The characters are amazing, even the side characters are wonderful. I love how the author chose mature adult voices, and the characters relationship is built with a foundation of truth telling and trust. Absolutely perfect. If I had to guess, I’d say we’re in for a good bit of immortal shenanigans with this bunch!
I highly recommend if you haven’t started this series that you do so, right now. I can’t say enough good things about this story and I can assure you I won’t be missing a single upcoming release!
Introduced through the means of a horrific crime, we meet Stas and Issac. She’s there to visit one of her best friends. He’s there to investigate the scene of her best friend’s murder. She wasn’t supposed to be able to see him. She was lured there. And they lived happily ever after… okay, so that’s not exactly what happened, however, these two did start an insane ‘relationship’ at the scene of a massacre. What’s hotter than that?
After a horrific introduction to the supernatural world, Stas finds out that she’s not human. She’s actually a hybrid, a fledgling immortal, and Issac is a centuries old immortal Ichorian. While this may seem pretty cool to everyone else, Stas is terrified… which she has every right to be. Ichorians and Hydrians are quietly at war, the people she trusts the most may not be the people she thought them to be, and there’s a mysterious undertone that just might wreck her entire world. Issac may have initially been using Stas as a pawn for his revenge, but lucky for her, things change and his feelings for her evolved, and he was just the person to help her navigate the dangerous immortal world she’s been introduced to. Who better to protect her from immortals than one of the world’s most feared immortals?
Well written and entertaining, Blood Laws was a fantastic introduction to the Immortal Curse series. So much of this story is still untold and I can’t wait to discover what happens next. I’m off to read Forbidden Bonds.
I am so happy to find this on BookBub! Thank you !!
10 Immortal lives for Blood laws – A must for any paranormal lovers collection!
WHAT!!!! NO WAY!!!
Yes – those were the last words out of my mouth as I read the last words in Blood Laws!
Foss has built a world of paranormal intrigue and suspense that promises to keep even the most fastidious of readers trapped within her clutches
I love the opposing factions and the complex players within this series – they were well written and graphically vivid
Excellent supporting cast as well
All the hidden secrets and factions plots that are unveiled as we go through the story are done so well, and blend seamlessly with the story that they truly end up as – “I did not see that coming” – moments.
This does end on a cliffhanger – The I need to know right now kind –
This was a surprisingly fantastic read! I loved the world building and warring factions’ history, as well as the variety of characters introduced. So many potential stories!
Anywho, Stas and Isaac are the definite stars. Their personalities were vivid and well conceived and their chemistry—smexy steam! But not the focus, more like a side dish of anticipation. The story itself had many layers of interest all starting with a friend’s untimely demise. I really enjoyed Isaac’s development through the story. He grew emotionally and it was reflected in his decision making from the start. Stas was also interesting. Trying to learn what she is and discovering new clues to her murky past made good reading. I’m not usually a fan of cliffhangers, but with that humdinger twist, I can’t wait to dive in to the next story to see what the hell happens next!!
This is my very first Lexi Foss novel that I have read and let me tell you she has caught my attention. She does great world building and I have really fallen in love with the MCs. I really wasn’t looking to start reading a new series but here I am and now I am hooked. Happy reading! Don’t miss this series!
Fascinating Series Start! Awesome Story & Listen
Blood Laws
Immortal Curse Series, Book 1
By: Lexi C. Foss
Narrated by: Kale Williams, Sarah Puckett
I enjoyed this book immensely, the story grabbed my attention and captivated it for the entire book. Lexi C. Foss is a gifted author with a brilliant mind, she creates fascinating and imaginative characters and storylines. This first book of her “Immortal Curse” series features Astasiya “Stas” Devenport and Issac Wakefield as the lead characters, several secondary characters are also introduced and I am looking forward to learning more about them as the series continues. Astasiya knew she differed from her friends she remembered being told that it was important that she hide her gifts, she also remembers how her parents were tragically killed. When she meets Issac Wakefield and then learns of a whole new world she is not surprised with what she learns, she actually wants to learn more and Issac is just the person to do that. Issac is all about deals and avenging his sisters death and Stas can help him with that. She understand she is his pawn but she is willing to play. She finds out who and what she is as well as all the other supernatural beings. The one thing Issac did not take into consideration was falling for Stas, so that changed things up for him, another huge twist did as well. This is a great start to a series, we learn a lot about the world dynamics and all the different characters and players in the world, the author lays down the foundation of what is to come in the rest of the series. There is never a dull moment in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, some mystery, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and some hot romance. Lexi C. Foss, thank you for another awesome story!
Sara Puckett and Kale Williams are the perfect cast to bring these characters and story to life. They do an awesome job portraying each character, giving each their own distinct voice making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. They have a complete understanding of each role they play and take that role and make it their own, sounding believable and just as I picture the character to sound. Sara Puckett played Astasiya’s role with perfection, Kale Williams did the same for Issac, both were just as awesome playing the secondary characters as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen

This is the first of the series and it started in a great way, it was good pacing and the worldbuilding was pretty good. I enjoyed the characters, definitely liked the mystery behind the story and I would like to continue reading the rest of the series. I got the audiobook narrated by Kale Williams and Sarah Puckett, they do a brilliant job narrating it, I love Sarah Puckett from previous audiobooks and this one is no different. The editing was well done and I would recommend getting it.
ok first point.. the story is cut right when something big is about to happen, so you must buy book 2 if you want to know what happens next. it’s a fairly long book and i was a bit disappointed to find out it didnt conclude the story at the end. said that, i have another couple of points to discuss.
the characters are all supermodels, obviously not realistic, but then again, who cares, it’s about vampires and other immortal beings, so if we want to imagine them, let’s do it properly, right? the passion between the 2 mcs is almost palpable. truly well written. i dont particularly appreciate when writers use the same terms over and over and in this book it unfortunately happens.
and now about the performance:
Kale is absolute perfection. he can do pretty much any accent and he was the obvious choice to play a posh english vampire. no brainer. loved every minute narrated by him. Sarah this time let me down. she is a brilliant narrator, she sounds very natural and believable, but she insisted on portraying the Mc with a romanian accent despite he is clearly british. also, for some reasons her natural accent and pronunciation faults were too evident here – she tends to mispronounce i “him” become “hem”, “innocence” “ennocence”.. in pretty much every word containing “i” it happened continuously during the book and it was pretty annoying. i listened to her in other book and this was not so evident.
i have received a free copy of this audiobook and i am leaving a voluntary review.
Enter into the world of the immortals. When Astasia was a child, she was always told not to use her powers of persuasion, keep them hidden. She meets Isaac Wakefield, billionaire vampire playboy. He takes an interest in Astasiya, because she is special. She has questions, he has answers. Giving her answers can get the both of them killed.
This story is riveting, dark, intense, Secrets, betrayal. This first book is setting the groundwork of the mystery surrounding Atasiya, a secret society, warring angels and demons.
Kale Williams and Sarah Puckett are perfection in their narration. Their performance was fantastic, telling the story with such emotion. They bring the angst, raw emotion and personality to each character.

4.5 big stars!
This may be the first book of the series, but it doesn’t waste any time getting into the meat of the story and building relationships. The chemistry between Stas and Issac is instant, and despite the circumstances that throw them together, they have trouble fighting off their mutual attraction. As Stas’ past keeps coming back to haunt her dreams and memories because of events occurring now, Issac tries to learn more about who, and what, she really is. The secondary characters are all excellent, and add a lot of depth to the story so it’s not just a superficial thing about this couple and what happened with them. I especially love the elders, B and Luc, especially, but also Jay and Alec. The banter and camaraderie between them and, well, really everyone adds a lightness and fun to the story that is kind of unexpected.
The narrators are excellent. Sarah Puckett has easily become the quintessential Stas for this entire series. And Kale Williams as Issac is absolutely swoon worthy. But in addition to that, he absolutely nails all the secondary characters, with their varied and wide flung accents and personalities. He is the perfect narrator for these stories.
Excellent
Excellent start for a series
A great read and pleasant surprise, with some heat and intensity. The coolest written words about love and passion-well done girl-makes you want one of.your own. I hated that it ended & now I’m hooked. Whew!
Fun book to read.
Just when I was getting to know the characters, the book ends and it is a series.
This book will keep you guessing at who is playing who!
I enjoy supernatural books and this guy the bill. The characters are fun, fascinating and witty. However I wish the ending was more definitive, not conclusive enough.
You will not be bored, I promise you! I am now onto the third book and cant wait to continue this series. It is original, witty, romantic and action packed. Don’t miss reading this series.
Interesting and easy to read.
A complicated world, brilliantly designed and completely easy to get lost in.
This takes place in the ‘real’ world where supernaturals live alongside humans. Some know about this, most don’t. The drama and corruption are at indescribable levels.
And even though Foss does give the reader some insider information with the prologue, it’s still full of mystery.
It promises of action and probably an all-out war. I cannot wait to read on in this series.
Manages to be intriguing, pack lovable characters, mystery, heat, real feels … this has all the makings of an epic read. I can’t find a reason to give it any fewer than 5 stars. Absolutely nothing to complain about here.
