While the Blood King lives, no one is safe. Sybille Esmond never wanted to inherit her family’s weird business: summoning spirits of the undead and guiding them to the afterlife. While it pays the bills, dealing with supernatural monsters comes with colossal risks, including becoming undead herself. When tall, dark, and undead Elis Tanner, a reformed member of the soulless ever-after, invades … reformed member of the soulless ever-after, invades Sybille’s life, bringing with him a possessive, disembodied ex-wife, those risks get complicated, and those complications become dangerous.
Sybille must aid Elis in confronting his jealous ex while also investigating the Blood King, a beast who refuses to die—by stake or by poison.
After a harrowing possession leaves her burned and bruised, Sybille finds herself drawing closer to the tempting Elis, who may be the only one capable of helping her kill the unkillable. With the Blood King and his legions of undead closing in, she discovers her own life is far from the only thing in jeopardy.

Blood King by Amber K. Bryant is an interesting take on vampires who in this book are called bloodthirsters. In this book, a vampire names Juliana waits almost twenty years for Elis to grow up and bring him across as a bloodthirster. They travel together until one day Juliana and he are separated by a surprise situation. This is the story of Elis and Juliana. This book had a very interesting take on the position the soul plays on this plane and the next. It is not your average vampire tale which is what makes it such an exciting read. I really enjoyed this book. Blood King is a tale full of paranormal surprises.
Blood King is a fantastic start to an intriguing new fantasy series by Amber K Bryant. I am looking forward to more action and potential romance from her quirky band of characters-psychic mediums, twisted invincible vampires, restless spirits, mysterious fae, and The Low, a neighborhood with its own personality and power. This story kept me guessing and engrossed until the last page. I definitely recommend this book and can’t wait to see where book 2 leads!
First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review. Also this author is new to me, but this won’t be for long.
Awesome story. This is a different take on vampires and vampire hunters. There is so much going on throughout this story. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
Vampires, Hierophants, ghosts and Fae and an unimaginable world in the Low. Elis, Sybille and their friends are on a journey of epic proportions to right the world. She’s helping him with his plight of his fanatical ex’s ghost and he’s helping her with her investigation of the awful Blood King. Can’t wait to read the next step in this fun and exciting adventure.

The author vividly describes her world in a way that quickly draws you in. This is a unique tale about a vampire, his undead ex that haunts him, and a woman that makes her living guiding souls to the afterlife. This book has alot going on and to be honest the flashback in chapter two kinda threw me off but keep on because this book is worth it. The flashback does give you important background information. You get a love triangle., a mystery, and a surprising plot twist. That cliffhanger at the end ensures you will anxiously await the next installment to this series.

This was a great book. I found the characters well defined and engaging and a storyline that flowed smoothly.

I’ve never read this author before, so I dived right into this book to see if I would find another author (not another one!!) to read. I have to be honest at first I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book very much. I liked Sybille, but at first I didn’t like Elis. However, after getting deeper into the book, not only did I like him, I liked just about every character. I am on the fence about Sybille’s mother Margot, but we’ll see how it goes in the next book. This book was filled with romance, mystery, an unexpected plot twist, and an interesting world. I am looking forward to the next one to find out what happens next! Recommend. I was given a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Deliciously enchanting and hypnotic, Blood King invites us into the always creepy, often seductive and sometimes surprisingly comic setting called the Low where lost souls dwell among humans. Leading lady Sybille and her hunk of a blood-thirster Elis make an unlikely pair of star-crossed lovers with enticing scenes both real and imagined that left me hungry for more. Thankfully, Book II, Blood Fae is on my coffee table—Yum!
This isn’t my normal read, but came highly recommended by a friend, so I gave it a go. I’d read a bit about the author, so I knew this story was originally a Wattpad short story (which I now want to read!). Although the beginning was a bit confusing, the author weaved the story, characters and mystery together nicely. She’s created an interesting “new world” of supernatural mayhem that I really enjoyed. The ending was a total surprise and I’m anxiously awaiting book 2 to find out what happens next.
Blood King
Spirit Seeker Book 1
Amber K. Bryant
This was a wonderful story. I loved the characters, and the storyline. Once I started I could not put it down.
This was my first book from Ms. bryant, and I definitely did not know what I was missing. I loved her take on the female lead sybille. she’s not your typical lead where she’s strong, but has to repeatedly state this and argue with her male leads after they have done something to ignore their choices. She is smart, confident, and in charge from the beginning so there’s no question of it from th start. I loved that this book showed me the rut I was in with other books.
Sybille our lead is a psychic of sorts who, with limited help from her family, assists spirits of thirsters (aka vampires) move on in the the afterlife will ridding their active monsters from the area with the help of her assistant. Of course this comes with money from an odd benefactor group, through in a thirster who actually reunited with his soul, and a whole lot of other complications along the way.

This one was a great read for a change of pace. Nothing light hearted about it. Sybille and Elias have a great working relationship but does it have the possibility to turn into more even though he is undead? As they and Sybille’s group look for the Blood King the story goes deeper than anyone thought.
I have to admit that ‘vampires’ are not usually my go to genre. In fact, after the debacle of Twilight, I sort of avoid them. Bryant has brought a freshness to vampires and a vulnerability that is a welcome voice to the supernatural world. I love Sybille with her sassiness and take no bull attitude. I love the strength of Devin and his unwavering loyalty to our heroine. Still on the fence with Elis. Not sure I completely trust him but we shall see. The plot is full charge ahead and you barely get a chance to catch your breath from one scene and you’re on to the next one. And WOW- did not see that ending coming at all!!!!! Bravo and well done- eagerly awaiting to see what happens next!
The Blood King is the promising start to a new series by Amber K. Bryant. I found myself sucked into the story from the start. Very entertaining with a unique spin on vampires. Can’t wait to read more adventures with Sybille & Elis!
There is a lot going on in this book, from romance (including a love triangle), to mystery, thriller and so much more. Sometimes it comes off as a little overwhelming in the scheme of a single novel, mostly in the opening where the second chapter –a flashback – can feel a little out of left field. But following that part, which contains important information leading into one of the bigger plots of the story, it picks up. The introduction of each new character gives more people to love (or hate, whatever the case may be). Personally, I didn’t much care for Margot or Charlie (this will probably be an unpopular opinion), but the main cast was interesting and had strong, compelling backstories that made them feel like more than just words on a page, especially Devin and Elis. Between an environment-loving hierophant, a once-soulless atheist vampire – excuse me, bloodthirster – and a supernatural bounty hunter with a dark past, what could go wrong?
Oh right, everything. And that’s what makes this story strong. While there were needed lulls (and the occasionally strangely placed conversations), most of the book led into actions, whether psychic or physical. For the romantics out there, Bryant offers plenty of tension between our three main players and adds in even more to keep things interesting. I will warn that it does end in a cliffhanger, which I don’t mind as I like reading series, but I know some people don’t enjoy. That said, it clearly leads into the plot of the second book with only a few small threads of the main plot left to tie up later on.
I recommend this mostly for people who enjoy vampire romances, because while exciting and fast-paced, the romance is always very much integrated in almost every aspect. I’ll leave it at this, as there’s so much mystery that I don’t want to spoil anything.
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was a debut novel for this author, and I have to say, it was quite thrilling. This wasn’t your average paranormal story. It was different from the norm and I very much enjoyed that. I also loved the characters, especially the main ones, mostly Sybille and Elis. Their back and forth and the way they connected was made this that much more enjoyable to read. And the excitement throughout made you not want to put it down. I look forward to the next one!
The Blood King surprised me. I rarely read books with a vampire twist and yet I got sucked into this story. Each character was well defined and I found myself wanting to know their individual stories, all while being completely engaged in the events unfolding in this one. I love books with complex, interesting characters and Blood King does not disappoint.
I’m loving this paranormal series so far! Sybille and Elias make an unlikely team, but she realizes that she will have to rely on him to do her job, protect herself and her family and free him from a past he can’t forget. This is packed with mystery, secrets, danger, guilt and the possibility of a chance to not be lonely anymore….just a great read! Fair warning…the ending may make you want to scream…in a good way!
This book was amazing! It did start out slow, at least for me; but I was very glad I stuck to it and continued reading. I love the relationship between the two characters, they personalities worked well together in my opinion.
Cannot wait to read more from this author, I especially cannot wait for this series to continue!
Fantastic book with many twists and turns leaving you feeling like you are invested in each character. The author has a way of making you feel like you are right in the center of the story walking beside each person and feeling the same emotions they are feeling. I honestly could not put this book down! Hooray for author Amber K Bryant.
