Ava is sick of mundane angel duties, and she wants a promotion to finally earn her wings. A promotion takes more than hard work; it takes a miracle—literally. Unfortunately, her miracle’s impossible, because it involves a vampire.Fin has no time for frivolous gestures. He’s too busy avoiding his own kind to care what a naïve angel wants. But when the other vampires uncover his deepest … secret, threatening what he cherishes most, nothing can help him…except a miracle. Too bad he chased the angel away.

REALLY REALLY WONDERFUL BOOK!!!! LOVED EVERY SINGLE WORD of it!!!! It was a TOTAL workout for my emotions!!!! and my self control!!! It was VERY hard to put down but you gotta sleep!!!! I did read it til I was done when I woke up though and it was SOO, well I can’t tell you that it’ll spoil it for you and you don’t want to miss a MOMENT of this story!!! THE END is quickly becoming the saddest words in the world to me lately.
I love the Angels of Sojourn series. Schultz has a very different take on angels and vampires. Her angels do not reside on clouds plucking harps – they are specifically chosen to watch over humans. They also have the same foibles as humans: free will, choice and the desire to keep questioning even when it is not a good idea (according to your superior). Falling as an angel does not mean automatically becoming a demon. Vampires are enemies of angels. What happens when a not-so-vampiric vampire and a not-so-quiet angel fall in love?

Blood & Holy Water (Angels of Sojourn #1)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I liked both Ava & Fin individually & together. They manage to forge such an unexpected friendship, it was cute, but it works so well for them. I enjoyed the pace and the whole storyline, Angels & Vampire’s. I wasn’t a huge fan of Simon but he redeemed himself in the end. I’d recommend it.

Can We Really Have A Second Chance At Life? This book, although it’s fiction, makes the reader ponder the story with a logical mind. Another great story by an amazing story teller! Excellent read!

This is a great book for people who like clean supernatural stories. I so enjoyed it.Not a rehash of a similar story but truly original. Vampires, humans and angels..what a combo.
I loved this book. I fell in love with the characters so much, I read it twice before i moved on to the novella. I subscribed to prime reading just so I can get more books by this author. I cannot get enough!
Blood & Holy Water is the first book of the Angels & Sojourn series and I loved it! The book grabs your attention right from the beginning full of action, suspense, love and sacrifice. I was hooked the minute I started reading and I couldn’t put it down. If you love urban fantasy I highly recommend this series and can’t wait to see what happens next!
Emotional, witty, imaginative, exciting and magical…. This is a heart pounding, action packed and drama filled adventure that kept me glued to my tablet from beginning to end. A very interesting take on opposites attract with a magical twist. Great reading!
This is a slow build romance, which is nice as Ava and Fin get to their HEA. Ava is an angel without wings. She has been trying to get her miracle that would give her wings and promote her to the next level but she always seems to fall short. Fin is a vampire living in the human world as a doctor. Every day he fights a battle with his vampire side by not drinking directly from a human and sticking to only what he can draw from them medically.
Ava is a bit naïve but as she gets to know Fin more and starts questioning her angel directives she realizes there is a lot more at stake than just her miracle to move her up the ladder.
Fin has a secret that he would kill to protect and Ava’s questions put him in a vulnerable position. Will he be able to help her get her wings and have her move on before he loses his heart to her and possibly someone he loves more than life.
There is an almost old fashioned feel to how these two interact in the beginning. I like that we get both sides of the story, which for me is always a better read. Ava starts off innocent in many ways and starts understanding there is more at work than first assumed. Fin thinks that he has gone unnoticed by the other vampires and is in for a rather rude awakening.
There are a few murky areas that could have been fleshed out a bit, such as more info on the other vampires.
The pacing in the beginning was good, towards the middle started lagging but it did start picking up in towards the end. Both characters made you care for and about them plus the story had enough meat to keep your interest.

Interesting suspenseful drama. Fin the vampire/ER doctor and Ava the wingless angel have quite a journey together to protect humans. Add a little sexual tension and a long lost daughter to be saved and this makes quite the perfect read. Great characters and an unique story.

Blood & Holy Water
Angels of Sojourn, Book One
Joynell Schultz
This was a great book. I loved the redemption aspect. The storyline was great. Fin and Ava are great characters. You are rooting for both of them all the way. The twists in this story kept me on my toes, and I loved it. Can’t wait to get into the next one!!
Ava is a fourth order angel who is trying to get her wings by being part of a miracle which she believes requires a vampire ER doctor name Fin. She angel-stalks him, and he can see her, which he isn’t supposed to be able to do. He doesn’t believe he is worthy of a miracle. He murdered his wife twenty years ago and has been repenting by trying to save human lives as a doctor; he has even distanced himself from other vampires. But Ava believes that the miracle that will get her her wings involves him. She slowly starts to break down his walls, and they get to know each other. Then strange things begin to happen with murdered angels and murdered vampires.
Will Ava get her miracle and her wings? What sort of miracle might Fin need? What is happening with the murders of angels and vampires?
What a fast-paced, immersive read! Ava is such a sweetheart and a little naïve, but she has good intentions. FIn is complex with his challenging past and his desire to do good now; he cannot appreciate his own kindness and compassion. I enjoyed what went on in this story between Ava and Fin as well as within the greater paranormal community of vampires and the angels. I love the romantic aspect of this as well, as Ava and Fin would seem at the surface to be such different entities that they couldn’t have such an attachment. The love story aspect of this is sweet, with just a little cuddling but no explicit sex.
If you enjoy stories about angels and vampires with a romantic twist, you might enjoy this book.
Dr. Fin O’Brian hadn’t fed in days. He walked down the emergency room corridor with a syringe of blood, but he had to lose his invisible stalker, an angel who had been following him for a month. He entered the physician’s lounge and had to wait until another doctor left. But then he felt the angel’s presence again and thought it had come for his soul. He demanded a face-to-face conversation and, to his surprise, a young female without wings appeared! She was stunned he could both sense her and see her! Ava has been trying to earn her wings for over 100 years and somehow believes Fin has some part to play with the miracle she needs to do this. Wing would mean she could visit Earth at her discretion and work directly with humans. Fin, however, wants her to leave him alone so he can do his job and help his patients coming through the ER. He was so different from what Ava knew of other vampires. He didn’t drink from humans, could be in the sun, could interact with angels, and cared for humans. So peculiar.
To prove herself to Fin, whose skill, kindness, and empathy had greatly impressed her, Ava sought out his dying patient. Ava could do something about her intense pain despite morphine, but she’d need to step out of Sojourn and into the human world to become physical. Then she took Gwen’s pain into herself.
As Fin was ready to leave, a female vampire came into the hospital! He raced out another door, wondering why she was there and wondering if it had anything to do with the angel. When he saw Ava again, she denied knowing about the vampire and helped him search for her with no luck.
When Ava went to ask Simon, her advisor who assigns her miracles, some questions about Fin, she overheard him say to someone that two potential angels were found dead before they could cross over. At the same time Fin, looking again at a letter he received, is being called by the Chair of the Blood Board to help with a vampire issue — vampires are turning up dead instead of disintegrating into ash. Fin, who always avoided his own kind, cannot ignore the summons. Ava has a feeling that the dead angels have something to do with Fin based on the tingling she feels. She won’t walk away from him, still sure he is her miracle, even though he tries to get her away from danger. Can they figure out how to work together to solve the two mysteries? And what will happen to them then?
I really loved this book. The story line never lags at all, moving at a perfect pace and pulling the reader in. Both main characters are so different from the stereotypes and can’t figure each other out. But can they work together to solve this serious situation that affects both angels and vampires? Put yourself into this mystery and follow along to see where this book leads!
A doctor who had a sad past. An angel who offers maybe a hope for the future.
Echoes of darkness from an immortal past haunt him in his present and threaten any sort of a future.
With luck, love, strong fighting and stubbornness skills, and maybe a bit of divine intervention, maybe hope and love still have a chance.

Very Unique World For This Angel And Her Vampire
So, first of all, this is a new author for me, so first time reader! I have a passion for all things Angel and Demon, but most specifically, the mixing of the two and the blurring of the lines. Mrs. Schultz did a fantastic job with this, and I am very pleased I took the time to give her a go.
The world building is interesting and not quite the ‘norm’ when it comes to angels and vampires. It’s not staggering, just different enough to keep it from getting monotonous. I am actually looking forward to future books in hopes of getting to understand more of this world. There were quite a few questions left unanswered by the end of the book. Rest assured, there is a happy ending and I don’t believe reading further is necessary to enjoy the book on it’s own standing.
Finn is our vampire doctor (he doesn’t tend vampires, he doctor’s humans, cool huh?) and father to a human woman who we get glimpses of throughout the book as they interact. He is very broody, but I can’t blame him. He’s got a good heart and he really is a good person. I’m heart broken for him but simultaneously proud of his will and determination to do right by his daughter. As Ava breaks down his walls, we really get to see that he has a personality beyond that and it’s quite endearing.
Ava, our angel working on her wings, is a sweet, absolutely adorable character. She too has a strong will, but she’s so fluffy cute you’d be hard pressed to see it. I kind of like that she’s a rule breaker. Her long stint as fourth level angel (wingless) has made her almost desperate to get her miracle to get her wings, but at the same time, it has shown her how her ‘humanity’ has slowly been being drained away. We get to see her own transformation through the book and it is quite heartening.
Overall, it was a wonderful romance with action, angst, suspense, and two star crossed lovers finding their way. I suggest it. I will be reading more by this author, specifically the novella’s in this series and future novels.
To those who care about such things: this book is pretty much sparkly clean. No sex at all. Some snuggling though. 😀
