Warning: Addicted to unicorns, weddings, and neat bows at the end of books? Do not pick up this book. This book has plot hang ups, gruesomalities, & unexpected crapolastorms. To those who break out in hives at loose ends, puzzles, pathways that end at cliffs, holes in walls, or piles of unarranged letters of the alphabet, this book may not be for you. This is a novella not a magnum opus, a … ladder to a basement of depravity not a stairway to heaven. At the end of this rainbow, there is blood.
When your own mind is tricking you, who can you believe?
Having to figure out whether she was alive or dead had never figured in her dreams or her nightmares. Climbing out of a grave was Nefer’s first mistake. Falling in love again, with the same man she’d met a thousand times before, was her second. Sometimes you have to lose before you can get up and fill the evil ones with a truckload of bullets.
Even a nemesis has her off days.

What a treat for Halloween! Blood Glyphs is the perfect short story if you like them short and dark. When i saw this little gem in my inbox,i couldn’t wait to start reading and again (as i knew she would) Cari delivers that dark beauty only she knows how to give! Brace yourself for Paru and Nefer’s story. It might be short, but it gives you só much to think about……
I have trouble getting into short fiction but I enjoy Cari’s writing so I thought I’d give this a shot. Glad I did.
From a brutal beginning (triggers!!) this evolves into a love story too big for its 44 pages, though well told, and I could totally see it as a prelude to something epic. Having said that, I think I like that it isn’t, that the “what next?” is left up to the reader (though not via a cliffhanger, everything here ties up nicely).
This is a short paranormal/horror kind of read
If you are familiar with the authors work then it will come as no surprise (because she loves to play with her readers minds) that Blood Glyphs is a starter read – like a soup starter kit, it is just the seasoning, or in this case the characters and the plot idea- you have to add the meat. This leaves it up to the reader to take Nefer and Paru wherever their twisted little heart desires
This is graphic (it is a horror read) and full of blood and strange rituals and OMG did not see that coming moments – so proceed with caution and enjoy the fantasy
Wow! All I can say is wow. The way Cari began this story really puts a readers into the main character’s head, and gives everything a more visceral edge. It’s confusing and chaotic and once we understand why, it really heightens the reading experience. The story itself is short, but so well written and leaves a reader wanting more, imagining new paths from the surprising end. I was sad to see it end, as I typically am with all of her books, but it was still well worth the read.
In my opinion, Cari Silverwood is an outstanding author, who writes for many reasons and in a number of genres. I have found much to love in her work, and this one is no different. It is a short, strong tale of blood, gore, evil and love that took me down a rabbit hole and left my brain buzzing.
This is a very unusual story!
Full of questions and strange things crawling out of the earth that turn into something, someone else after a shower.
And then an unexpected love story.
And as soon as you almost understand what it’s all about, a humongous Oooops! at the end!!
Cari Silverwood at her devious best!
A short horror/paranormal story by Cari Silverwood.
I won’t say much about the story, because I don’t want to spoil anything, but it sucks you in from the first line and you want to know more.
It has lots of twists and turns. It is dark, gory, but there is also love. A love that transcends all.
It will leave you wanting for me.
