Some series go on for so many books that they seem to get stale, or it feels like maybe the author is trying too hard. I don’t get that with these books. Each new book sucks me in like the first and I can’t wait to see where the adventure will lead us this time.
In this volume, I wasn’t expecting another “frenemy?” to come out of the woodwork for Ethan. And I’m still not sure what I think about her, but I will say this, Merit only rises in my eyes with each and every book. She seems to grow and learn as a character, but also remains her sassy and confident self. This book probably showed more vulnerability than most of the others so far though, and I really liked seeing that side of her too.
I’m very eager to see what will happen with the GP next after the events in the end of this book. If you are a fan of the series, I’m sure you’ll continue reading, but if you haven’t started yet, go back to book one, these books are quite good!
“My Power wasn’t his to take”
This was a great line Merit said and I couldn’t agree more. In the middle of trying to solve a serial murder case Ethan decided to run for GP.
It kinda put a kink into everyone’s world but it worked itself out.
Merit and Ethan had thing that needed to be said and old hurts and past truths needed to come out. I do like that it took Ethan a lot to come to terms and open up to Merit. Not the fact that it took him so long but that she let him work it out on his own. And that in turn gave him the trust he needed to be open.
That ending is ominous that is for sure.
I love the narration and I am off to start the next book.
~ 4 Blood Game Stars ~
Blood Games is book ten in the Chicagoland Vampires series by Chloe Neill. CNeill pulls out all vampire fun in this non-stop, fast-paced, action-packed adventure, with that witty fun dialogue we have come to know and love in this series.
We get two main plots. A human Tarot murder mystery and Ethan’s GP candidacy. As all things go in this series things start off quiet, but they soon turn into mayhem. As we have learned something is bound to happen when you live as long as the supernaturals do.
Ethan and Merit, where center stage with Ethan running for the GP spot and Merit looking for a murderer. CNeill through in a bombshell in regards to the GP. They end up doing nominations and testing said nominees in several areas. Ethan puts up a good fight! Does he win? Well you will have to read to find out. As for Ethan, I go back and forth on how I feel about him. I am a little tired of him hiding things from Merit, whom he wants to spend his eternal life with. It got old fast! Merit, well I did not like her in the first few books, but she has warmed up too me. She shows such determination and dedication in her life and protecting her House.
I love the witty dialogue that comes with these books. It’s so much fun to read the banter. The Con Convention was just too much fun. I also love how the author describes the battle and sparing scenes as being compared to a ballet dancer, flowing with such grace and easy. As for that ending! Well someone is playing a very dangerous game, but Ethan and Merit I feel will play it even better. I am looking forward to the next installment.
Blood Games is a fast-paced, non-stop, action-packed adventure with some heartfelt moments, and developments that will RATTLE up the Chicagoland Vampires WORLD.
