Captivating! Drama; War, Hate, Love, & Passion envelope the reader on an epic journey!! Ms. Castel writes with great wit!!! Well done!!
Really loved this author’s other books. Was not sure that I could get into this particular time period. My eyes were really open about the pict people (I found them fascinating) & the time period of the books in this series. I read them all back to back reading 24 hrs a day ( co-vid hibernation). Will start the next time period soon ( the Roman’s in Briton) next.
A lesson in patience, eyes on the goal, and letting go of false judgements.
Arranged marriage for peace, anger, betrayal, and reconciliation all make for a great love story!
Tea, her brother Loc, and her sister Eithni live on the Isle of Skye in the fourth century. After the recent death of their chieftain father, Loc decides that he wants his island to live in peace. So he joins the Wolf clan (his) to the Eagle clan by marrying his sister to Galan, the Eagle chieftain. Of course difficulties arise, especially since Tea is a warrior woman. The realistic portrayal of historical events stretches to include a study of human nature and how difficult change can be.
…meh? I’m not disappointed that I read it, but I definitely wouldn’t read it again. I will say that I didn’t see the “reveal” coming, so at least there was a little surprise in there. And it’s dated further back than most books, so that was interesting. But the characters weren’t my favorite, and the relationship they shared left something to be desired.
Great characters with a romantic ending makes great reading.
Good story but too much sex.
This was an interesting read. Tea was a strong female character. She fought for what she wanted and in the end found true love. It was a good look at Pic culture and women warriors. Enjoyed it.
I loved the characters and their story. The heroine couldn’t help falling for the hero in spite of past events that caused her hated of his people. The action kept me turning the pages until the very end.
loved it
It felt like amateur writing. Not a bad story overall, but it was missing something. Not enough “fluff.” Every thing was direct, to the point.
Nice way to pass a snowy day.
I was intrigued by the setting for BLOOD FEUD: 366 A.D., Jayne Castel was a new author to me, and what a spectacular and wonderful discovery it was! Ms. Castel’s prose is vivid and eloquent, the writing is impeccable, the story flows seamlessly, the dialogues are splendid (without the aid of unnecessary Scottish dialect: all the characters are Scottish). The author’s attention to detail, and historical detail is staggering: I felt I was transported in time, and I had never read a romance in this sort of setting before, and it’s positively awe-inspiring. Our couple – Tea and Galan – are wonderful characters, engaging with strong personalities, and Galan is the sort of hero I wish I saw more often in historical romances. Even the secondary characters are absolutely splendid!
The romance is just perfect! It progressed organically, and it’s not easy for Tea and Galan, as the BLOOD FEUD is not easily solved. There is a lot of action, betrayal, all sorts of totally unexpected – and realistic – plot twists. Clan wars usually bore me to death, and I was enthralled! I very highly recommend BLOOD FEUD, even if you’re not a fan of Scottish romances, of ancient romances; if you love captivating storytelling, great writing, and superb characters, this is the book for you.

I received a free copy of Blood Feud by Jayne Castel. Jayne is a new author to me so I thought I’d give her writing a try. I’m so glad I did! I was into the story right from the beginning and couldn’t put it down. There’s not many books I can say that about so I’m an instant fan of her action packed and creatively complex characters and storyline. I appreciate the fact this story was not one you could foresee and know everything that was going to happen. I found myself emotionally moved by the happenings. If you like only stories that are all happiness and hearts, this is not your book. If you love a good story with twist and turns, war, heartache, and some happiness in a world that can be so cruel, then look no farther. I look forward to many more novels by Jayne Castel!
