In book one we found out just what happened to Annalice and what all she had to do just to survive. It was a very hard time for you and she has lost so much. With those days behind her she finds she is living in hell and takes the life of her maker who has a brother who now is her judge. I really like the twists and turns and how different it is from other stories of this kind. I have to say I really like Levi a WHOLE lot more than his brother. He always wanted a better relationship with his brother now that Annalice killed him that would never be. He now puts his sights on her and what he will do with her. He wants her dead until he finds out the truth now he just wants her gone.
Annalice is having a hard time over what she has become, she is having trouble overcoming it and learning to be what she is. Levi once he gets over the issues becomes a kinder man who helps her learn and find her way. My heart really went out to both of them but more so to Annalice she has dreams and sees them as truth when she will never have the relationship she had before with her daughter. She can’t go out in the day. She really must get over it and deal with what she has. It is hard not to sympathize with her but there were times I just wanted to shaker her. At times, she is just too much me, me, me. It is an intense but a good one, well written but a cliffhanger. It is interesting and holds your attention and well worth your time.
I am loving how Annalice is trying to keep her family together at the same time she is learning to be her new self. Annalice really needs guidance as a new vampire and finds it in Levi, if only he won’t hang her out in the sun to burn. I am anxious for the rest of the saga.
WOW! Just……..awesome! I very much enjoyed this book. Well done.
This is the second book in the Blood Reaction Saga. It picks up where the first book ends so I suggest reading Blood Reaction first for a better reading experience. This is a very creative, story that differs from other vampire stories I have read. The world the author has created had me wanting to know more and anxiously turning the pages to see what would happen next. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Includes a spoiler or 2 and this is a wordy review.
What can I say? Edge of your seat and has you wondering whats going to happen next! We meet Levi who’s kind of like a brother of Asa’s. Although he’s very much vampire he’s not as crazy as Asa was. There was a time I felt sympathy for Levi because he did want a relationship with Asa but he was pushed away and now its too late wondering what if…thanks to Annalice. He hated her at first I think. He wanted to kill her well over half the book. Til he got the truth and even when he did he still wanted her gone but something stayed his hand. This is not your typical vampire story and its not really a romance per-se but it has romantic aspects to it. However, I cant help but wonder if these “romantic” feelings are because of what they are..vampires. Their saliva and blood affects them. Its hard to say. I liked Levi by the end. He’s a good teacher for Anna if she’d listen. Shes pretty stubborn and a lot selfish. I mean yeah she was turned but she needs to get over it and move on and she just couldnt let go. She even at the end thinks she can have a relationship with her daughter like she did before. Taking her shopping and buying her food snacks and just being normal. She’s no longer normal and cant even go out during the day. She cant deal. She thinks she can be around her when she can not 100% guarantee her daughters safety which is completely selfish…she would try but if her blood lust took over she’d drain her dry and be devastated later. This is what he is trying to teach her but she’s having difficulty. I think Annalice really likes Levi but she’s not ready to admit to it at all. She admits to desiring him for sure and they do spend time making love and doing other things together. I think Levi cares for her the only way a vampire can. He’s taking over being her maker and protecting and teaching her about who’s she is now. There were many times I got annoyed with her but then I do sympathize with her because things were taken from her. Yes, she chose to keep her family safe and accidental became vampire so she made a pact with Asa. I dont think we’d really know 100% if Asa would have killed her. He might have..probably. I think that was the point Levi tried to figure out would he or wouldnt he and did he have any humanity left? Beside the point now that Asa’s gone. This really messes with your mind. Its totally psychological in a lot of ways. I had to take a break and go back to reading. It was pretty intense. That ending though? Major cliffhanger.
The loss of humanity is truly so difficult.
In this world of glitter romantic vampire stories only a few truly show the darkness. What really matters being lost in a few glamorous ideas. Fanciful dreams really. Yet in the depths of undead “truth” is a much harder reality to face.
