A STRUGGLE FOR SURVIVAL DEEP IN THE HEART OF AFRICAFrom the explosive first pages, Lisa Harris weaves a tale of heart-stopping suspense and adventure with her second book in the Mission Hope Series. When fighting erupts between government forces and renegade Ghost Soldiers deep within the Republic of Dhambizao, thousands are forced to leave their homes. Dr. Paige Ryan, who works with Volunteers … Volunteers of Hope International, is sent to lead a team to set up a refugee transit site—where the immediate needs for shelter, water, sanitation, and food are critical. Nick Gilbert, a bush pilot for Compassion Air, joins the team to help fly supplies in and out of the area. With the refugee camp already experiencing overcrowding, raids, and uprisings, a group of American mountain climbers is attacked by the Ghost Soldiers. Paige’s medical team responds immediately, rescuing survivors and taking them into the camp. When it’s discovered that one of the trekkers is carrying an infectious disease, the harrowing conditions of the camp are forgotten. In desperate need of vaccines and the Ghost Soldiers blocking the only road out until their demands for amnesty are met, it won’t be long before the disease is out of control … and there is nowhere to run.

Blood Covenant was hard to get into at first because it was so real! Between the pain and anguish of those displaced from their homes, those who were working to help and then there are the rebels causing all this and then the reason They are doing this! Lisa Harris brings it all together and makes it so real. In a little bit I was able to feel some of it. Read at the risk of your heart!
Having spent several weeks in a third world country, this story is so true to the lives of those in politically hot climates. It’s full of danger and suspense and leaves you wondering what will happen next. Definitely not for the faint of heart, this book is gritty, tragic and brutally honest. Lisa Harris weaves a tale that is heart wrenching and yet I couldn’t put it down even to wipe the tears.
Hard to put down!
I enjoyed the whole series. Made you really think about the things in life we take for granted.
Phenomenal. This book, while not action packed, was filled with passion and intrigue. I enjoyed watching the events unfold, and I loved learning about another culture.
The main characters are struggling against a spreading illness and rebels, who are making their job more difficult, when things take a turn for the worse.
A story of mission aid workers caught up in a country’s civil war, and the struggles they faced. I very much enjoyed it, although the realism was more realistic than I wanted a time or two. I highly recommend the read for anyone looking for a fast-moving, intense, action-packed drama.
Enjoyed this one
Another awesome book by this awesome author.
I live a good mystery. I also found this book challenging, so I did some research after reading it. Thank you for this amazing book.
Must read
Thought provoking about what it’s like to be a part of a refugee camp. A lot of characters to keep track of and the interactions between them but definitely an interesting story. Wrapped up neatly so maybe not completely realistic but a satisfying read.
Great realistic fiction that brings home how the rest of the world lives and suffers. We’ll done.
It’s important to me to learn about inequalities, inhumanities and cultural diversities throughout the world
Liked the characters and story line
Shows what happens in the real world we live in today. Sad but true
I had a difficult time putting the book down.
One of the better Christian novels I’ve read about the future in a long time.
This book was timely and helped me to understand things as never before. I sent copies to my children so they would also understand the principles of covenant relationship. I highly recommend this book not only for greater understanding but to build confidence and security in one’s relationship with Christ.
This book was so well written and researched, that it was hard to put It down.
I loved it because of the reality — but she kept a good ending 🙂 I’ve lived in another country where there was activity by non-government combatants, plus dealing with disease and difficulty while lacking resources, yet under urgent need was really something I appreciated.
