A beautiful, dark, enthralling story. -International Bestselling and award winning author, Amelia Hutchins. He wanted me for my blood… stopped being afraid.
That was my first mistake.
Cashel Blackthorne took me as his captive, but more than that, he opened my eyes to the terrible truth of the world. Vampires exist, and I am the key to their salvation.
The Blackthorne vampires want my blood but their prince wants more.
He wants me. There’s something between us neither of us can deny. He is my captor, but I’ll be his ruin.

Cashed started out making my blood boil. I really wanted to hate him but I wound up loving him and he made my blood boil in a different way. Well written and steamy, I recommend Blood Captive and cannot wait for the next book in the series!

Blood Captive by Kim Loraine is book One in The Blackthorne Vampires Series. This stars the story of Olivia Stewart and Cashel Blackthorne.
Olivia found her mother murdered and her last words were for her to run. Olivia was used to her mother extreme behavior and them being on the move but her death open the true danger to her. About a year later after her mother’s death, Olivia happens to run into Cashel. Cashel knows what Olivia is from the first sunshine smell of her. Cashel kidnaps her and takes her to Blackthorne Manor where his father Elias, the King is.
Olivia is set to be his father’s but as much as Cashel tries to keep his feelings from growing toward Olivia he fails.
This is a dark vampire romance that does end in a cliffhanger which sets us up for more in their story.
Thanks for the opportunity to read and review. A good read and love to read paranormal romance. I would definitely read more from this author.

Okay before me, this book on bookbub had 69 reviews, so sorry I had to go and mess that up for you Kim! Anyway… love this story. very intense though. Like I recc some Xanax or alcohol to get your through. But I can’t stop and I’m on to book 2. GOOD Dark PNR is rare so snap this up. Warning: this ends on a cliffy BUT the other two books are also out so there’s no waiting.
With a family falling apart from mental disease, a special girl is kidnapped to save them with the special properties in her blood. Of course, her kidnapper is suave, debonair, so handsome you might swoon from looking at his hotness, but cold as ice in his approach. Captivated with her delectable smell, a series of macabre events begin to unfold in her new existence. At once terrified and then next turned on, she tries to navigate a world she was never meant to inhabit, until she doesn’t know whether she wants to stay or leave. And yet somehow, love enters this mess and raises its head almost to obsession. All of this is wrapped in a dark world, living in a dark house, with people who have a dark agenda. Enter if you dare.
The #4 rating is for not making the sequel, Blood Traitor, available on Amazon so I can purchase it.
Love stories about vampires. This was so good. Loved Olivia and Cashel’s characters. Well written. Filled with intrigue, conflict, yearning, and steam. Couldn’t put it down. Keeps you in your seat. Can’t wait to start reading the next one.
4 stars for Blood Captive by Kim Loraine. This is book one in the Blackthorne Vampire Series. This book was unique and a great start to this series. Kim Loraine has taken a different approach to Vampire mythology. Olivia is kidnapped by the Blackthorne Vampires because she is supposed to be their savior. Cashel is the heir to the vampire king, he is also the one who took Olivia. Olivia and Cashel are instantly drawn to each other, but they can’t have each other because Olivia is meant to for Elias the King. Olivia’s character seems strong and feisty and I love that about a heroine. I think there is more to Cashel than we know and I can not wait to find out about him. “Oh, we are very real. But we’re nothing like the heroes from your human novels. We don’t pine for understanding. We are monsters. Plain and simple. Not because we have to be. Because we choose to be.” I am into this story and can not wait to see what comes next. Be warned this ends in one heck of a cliffhanger.
This was a good start of these new series. The book has a bit of a slow beginning, but it really manage to keep my attention, and it got much better. There are many secrets that I hope to unravel in the next books, I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen with Cashel and Olivia.
The narration was truly perfect Ema Wilder and Aaron Shedlock did an amazing job at narrating this book.
I loved Midnight Prince, the fourth book in The Blackthorne Vampires series, and wanted to explore this world more, so when the opportunity came for me to review this one, I jumped on it!
Cashel is such a sexy vampire and Olivia a strong-willed heroine! Their chemistry is, simply put, sizzling hot! Elias Blackthorne has become one of those characters I love to hate and now I’m wondering how he came to be what he is. I hope he gets his own book.
Ms. Loraine made an awesome choice by casting Aaron Shedlock and Emma Wilder. The two did a wonderful job bringing this book to life!
Blood Captive is a slow-burn, contemporary paranormal romance written in dual first-person POV and performed in dual narration. It’s the first book of a series and ends in a cliffhanger. No cheating.

Blood Captive
The Blackthorne Vampires, Book 1
By: K. Loraine
Narrated by: Aaron Shedlock, Emma Wilder
Paranormal is not my first choice of romantic genre, but I always make an exception for K. Loraine. She knows exactly how to make the magic come to life. This new series is incredibly sexy, a little dark and oh so romantic. Not your typical let’s go out on a date romantic, but the heat and chemistry is so strong, and the hint of vampires just brings it all to the front for me. The Blackthorne vampires are in trouble and the only possible solution lies in the blood of Olivia. Cashel, the next in line to be king, captures her and the immediate attraction is so palpable, I think my earbuds were smoking. But there is much to going on this Blackthorne family. There is power struggles, family disputes and vampire hunters all threatening their livelihood. Is Olivia the answer? Will Cashel be able to keep her safe to find out? Loraine has once again sucked me into her world, much like she did with her Fallen Angel series. I am captivated, and have totally fallen for Cashel. You don’t find a vampire like him everyday! Olivia is so strong and I love her for it. And the two together..combustible. Be prepared for action, a slow burning love and an all out surprise ending that leaves you waiting with baited breath for the next in the series! Bring on book 2, I can’t wait!!!
K Loraine has a knack for picking the best voices for her books. Matching the characters is not easy, and her casting of Aaron Shedlock and Emma Wilder is spot on! Shedlock uses his sensual British accent and creates Cashel so he is irresistible. Meld that with the fantastic voice of Emma Wilder, passionate and strong as Olivia and the book is impossible to put down. Hoping the next installment comes out quick!

* First time reading author
I was highly surprised by this first book. Blood Captive is an interesting way to start off this series, a family full of very different personalities, abilities, feelings towards each other, and a father that is going completely mad. As always you have a hierarchy when it comes to the vampire culture but with the Blackthorne vampires the siblings they are so close that they work as a unit behind the scenes against the father. Even when it comes to saving Olivia from the father.
Olivia is an innocent woman brought to the Blackthorne manner by the prince because they think she can save them from the sun sickness killing their kind. The things this family puts her through are horrific and in some cases needless, but while doing all of this makes her and Cashel fall deeper in love. But rather it is stupidity or arrogance Cashel will not change or bond with Olivia during this time.
3.75 Stars!!
Beautifully well-written and engaging storyline, likeable characters, great world building, and entertaining plot. This book grabbed my attention from the start, and couldn’t put it down until I turned the last page even though there is a lot of unanwer questions, something that doesn’t surprised me since this is just an introduction what seems to be a fabulous series.
Blood Captive is book 1 into the Blackthorne Vampires Series, a dark vampire romance. This story is about Olivia Stewart and Cashel Blackthorne but ends on a cliffhanger (hence my 3.75 stars).

Take a bite into this book, it’s a good one!
Olivia’s life changes when she’s out for drinks one night, she’s taken to a houseful of vampires.
Talking vampires there’s a few there, the main ones being the king who is beyond horrible, along with his children. Cashel is the eldest child and his dad the king loves tormenting him.
I didn’t like Cashel at all to begin with but he showed a few good qualities and a softer side as the story went on. I kept wondering which is the real him!
Olivia, she is sassy maybe too sassy considering she’s in a house of vamps and her blood smells so good! She is strong-willed though, but Cashel is her weakness, she wants him or is she playing him and us?
Vampires are one of my fave genres, so add in some good characters and an interesting storyline and I got a book I really enjoyed.
Did I mention there’s a cliffy… Book 2 here I come
Olivia and her mother are on the run. When her mother dies, Olivia is left on her own but Cashel finds her and kidnaps her. Cashel’s family believes Olivia’s blood will help them to be in the sun. Strong attraction between these two with both trying to fight it. This was a good start to this series but I wasn’t aware that it ends with a cliffhanger so that threw me off. But the book is interesting enough to have me want to read more.

This starts out a bit on the slow side but ends on a WTH – Reason for the four stars
A lot is happening but it seems like it is all running in the background. What do I mean?
We get hints – Little clues of Why? and Who? and What for?
I didn’t feel like I got all the answers I wanted by the end of the book.
This being the first in the series would probably explain that feeling.
At about 60% the story takes a turn and things become intense.
As this first in the series wraps up we are left on a bloody hellacious cliff hanger with a lot more questions than answers.
I believe that there is a lot more to Cashel than we are shown. He is multi-faceted. I get, sort of, why he did what he did. I still have a lot of questions though. One is what he was doing there that night?
Olivia, I am a bit torn when it comes to her. She is strong in so many ways and stands her ground but at times Idk she got on my nerves.
Then we have the King – really do not like him
And the rest of the family again torn with regards to them and how they behave.
And then the hunters… I’m almost believing they are as dangerous and bloodthirsty as the vampires if not more so.
As I mentioned this ends on a serious cliff hanger and I am off to find out what happens next!
This was a very good book. I do love a good vampire story and this one has a different twist. I just wish that the king would have stayed out of things and let Cashel have Olivia from the beginning. I really want to see them together. I do not like Logan at all. He is as bad as the King as far as I am concerned. Thank you though for the enjoyable story.
Bloody fantastic vampire romance that took my breath away. Great book that I can’t recommend enough.

When every drop of blood is worth much more than gold
—>>> What happens when you are discovered to be the only one who can save vampires, their last and only hope to cure sun sickness? Olivia’s vagabond way of growing up suddenly is seen in a new light when Cashel reveals the reason why she was suddenly his captive and presented to his father, the King of the Blackthorne Vampires. Intriguing start to a new vampire series!
Exciting paranormal/vampire story
Olivia is a human with a rare blood that may be able to save the vampires. Cashel is the vampire prince put in charge of her care. A hate/love relationship ensues that could put their lives on the line. Allegiances are tested, emotions run the gambit. Ends in a cliff hanger and I can’t wait for more of this story.
I really really enjoyed this book. A unique vampire novel with a plot that I’ve never read before. I can’t wait till the next one! Probably the most exciting Kim Loraine book since the Siren Coven!
