“Kick-ass were-coyote auto mechanic Mercedes Thompson” (Publishers Weekly) has leapt to the forefront of today’s urban fantasy heroes, thanks to bestselling author Patricia Briggs. Now, Mercy finds herself in the middle of a bloodbath—with only one way out…Mercy has friends in low places—and in dark ones. And now she owes one of them a favor. Since she can shapeshift at will, she agrees to act … will, she agrees to act as some extra muscle when her vampire friend Stefan goes to deliver a message to another of his kind. But this new vampire is hardly ordinary—and neither is the demon inside of him.
When the undead and the werewolves sent to find him don’t return, the local vampire queen turns to Mercy for help. A coyote is no match for a demon, but Mercy is determined to get her friends back—including the two werewolves circling around her heart.

Blood Bound is book two in the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. Each book continues the ongoing adventure with our coyote shifter, Mercy. It continues to develop the characters, relationships, and world.
I LOVE this series. I LOVE Mercy! She’s a kick-ass heroine. She knows she shouldn’t play with the big boys, but she can’t help wanting to help those she cares about.
In Blood Bound we dive into the dean of the Vampires and learn about their structure. Mercy gets involved with the seethe and a demon-riding vampire. She handles herself well in that she uses her connections and knowledge to locate the threat and save her friends. She’s capable and smart.
The relationships between the characters are intense. We dig deeper into exploring the Vampire world and her friendship with Stefan which is a forbidden relationship for both of them. Biggs isn’t afraid to show the amazing side of the vampires, but also the darker and edgier side. We also dig into Adams pack. I love the friendship Mercy has with Warren. I like that we learn how Adam and Warren became friends and how Warren joined the pack. We see that many don’t like Warren’s sexual preference and treat him as less or they want him out. We also see that most in the pack only tolerate Mercy, but when things get dicy she can dominate them, even Adams’ second. Mercy feels that she is despised and that a coyote has no place in a pack, but as the reader we see that she does have a place, but that she just hasn’t seen it yet.
The developing romance or romances. I am not one for love triangles and since I’ve read this series many times I know which direction Mercy goes, but here at the beginning we see that Mercy is not one to lead anyone on, so what will she do when her X, Samuel, comes back into her life. He’s the man she was going to be with until she found out the real reason he wanted her now she’s not sure what she feels for him. Then theirs Adam the packs Alpha and his claim that she is his mate. My heart broke for Samuel when he reveals the truth about what happened in Texas. Then theirs Adam and the developing feelings Mercy has for him. Oh my that work-out scene with Adam. Swooning! We see how she feels about Adam, but also her struggle with being controlled or losing her free will. She grew up around the wolves. She knows their structure, how the Alphas are and she’s scared. Briggs isn’t afraid to leave us in a love triangle with Adam and Samuel at the end. What will Mercy do?
We also get to learn more about what Mercy can do and why Vampires don’t like her kind. I enjoyed learning more about the coyote shifter and what her abilities are. No one really knows what she can do or they know, but don’t tell it all and just give us and Mercy bites of information. It’s these kind of tidbits of knowledge that I love and enjoy how the author weaves them in.
Narration: Lorelei King is a spectacular narrater. She does a wonderful job with the storyline and characters. I love her voices for everyone.
This is one of my favorite series and I’ve re-read and listened to it multiple times. It’s a delight and each time is always like the first. I highly recommend this Urban Fantasy series. Don’t hesitate to pick it up.
Rate: 4.5 Stars
Mercy is my all time favorite heroine. She’s rough around the edges, takes care of herself, and her heart is just too dang big and keeps getting her in trouble. In Blood Bound, we get to see a better view into the vampire side of things. Briggs keeps her world building as solid as book one when jumping from werewolf to vampire lore. She artfully blends familiar tropes with new ideas while being consistent to her world.
Stefan is my favorite vampire in all of literature, I mean come on guys, a Scooby Doo van? Win. Mercy continues to build her tribe in this book and I love every second of it.
Mercy is so awesome! This time she gets roped into helping her vampire friend that help her last time. The problem is that neither one of them could have predicted what they were really up against and what was going to happen next. This is one bumpy with lots of surprises around ever corner that will keep you hooked as the story progresses at it’s own pace. If you enjoy paranormal suspense then you really have to try this series! I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
This book focuses more on the vampires in this world. I find the vampires fascinating and unique. Also, Stephan is one of my favorite characters. How can you not love a character that owns a Mystery Machine!
One of my favorite things about Mercy is that she tries to keep her head down and let others solve the problems but she always takes a stand when that doesn’t work. She doesn’t let fear stop her from trying to save her friends and stopping a killer. She also will take matters into her own hand when justice isn’t served and I love her even more for that.
The romance between Mercy and Adam is just starting to build in this one. We got a little taste in the first book and with each book that follows it just keeps growing. I really enjoy this slow building romance.
Now onto Iron Kissed, which always makes me cry but I still love it.
I can’t say enough about this talented author Patricia Briggs- Blood Bound is the second book in the Mercy Thompson series and it is beyond amazing – Briggs won me as a permenant fan with her first book Moon Called and this book just cemented the fact that I’m addicted to her Mercy Series ! There are 10 books in the series right now and I am eagerly awaiting the next one !
The ride from ‘Moon Called’ continues in ‘Blood Bound’. Mercy and crew are back.
Mercy owes Stephan the vampire a favor. So you help out because nothing can go wrong, right? Yeah, right. But what do you do when an evil vampire that even scares vampires is runnung around killing people? You jump in and wish for the best.
Mercy, Stephan, Sam, Wolf, Adam and Ben work together to make the Tri-City safe once again. With a little luck and a lot of determination anything is possible.
Bravo to Patricia Briggs for crafting witty, playful and nuanced characters. You’re going to love this book.
I absolutely love the entire Mercy Thompson series. This isn’t the best book in the series, but it’s very good. Lots of action and humour, and one of the few books I’ve read wherein the love triangle isn’t obnoxious; I actually almost never think of it as being a live triangle because it’s done so well it doesn’t feel like the trope. Mercy is a really awesome character, who only gets more interesting. In fact all of the characters are spectacular. My only issue throughout the whole series is the werewolf women, who only in the latest couple of books have started to feel like real characters. It’s a surprising oversight on Briggs’s part, considering she’s something of a feminist author, but it’s not enough to ruin the series by any means.
Once you’ve read one you have to read them all. In this second book of the Mercy Thompson series the vampires get into the action and Mercedes has to save the day once again. All the while the heat turns up with her prospective mates. Wait, is there another suitor on the horizon? A must read!
I’m writing reviews after I’ve finished the series. They were THAT good. I wasn’t a big fan of Samuel much, a bigger fan of Adam and oddly enough, I love Stefan. If you love urban fantasy, you’ll love this.
Well written
This book and all the other books in this series are an excellent read. I read the first, then the second and so on kepted be hooked.
Love Mercy.
Patricia Briggs hasn’t written a bad book yet. Love Mercy Thompson as a character.
I read the first book in the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs last year for the #Romanceopoly2019 challenge. I was glad I got a chance to read the second book for this year’s #Romanceopoly2020 challenge. It fulfilled the Action Avenue square for the challenge.
In the second book in Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series, Mercy owes her friend Stephan a favor. He’s a vampire, and he has to confront another vampire and needs Mercy to help him. He wants her to go as her coyote side and observe the meeting between the vampires. This is when they both realize they are not dealing with an ordinary vampire but a demon inside of him. Both Mercy and Stephan are lucky to be alive after the encounter. Unfortunately, they need to find out how to handle the situation with the vampire/demon. It’s not going to be easy. Other supernaturals are going to get hurt or killed. Mercy will have to investigate further with Stefan and other supernaturals, wolf shifters, Fae, etc. to find out how to handle the vampire/demon. Be prepared for some action-packed scenes in this book and lots of drama. This book will leave you in shock at the ending of who was behind the vampire/demon. I don’t want to give any details away, so that’s it for summarizing the book.
One of the many reasons why I love this book is Mercy’s character. I love that she is a coyote shifter (Walker), and she has some kick-butt abilities that she is continuing to learn and grow. There are also two sexy wolf shifters, Samuel and Adam, in this book that both love or adore Mercy. Samuel is from her past, and Adam is from her present, and both have some intriguing qualities. I am Team Adam all the way, and I hope Mercy gives him more of a chance. Although, I did have a moment that I adored Samuel in this book.
I love this series by Patricia Briggs and can’t wait to continue reading this series soon. I need to find out what happens next in Mercy Thompson’s life. She’s one kick-butt heroine that you shouldn’t mess with, especially after what happened at the end of the book.
If you are a fan of Urban Fantasy, then I would recommend this book to you. I give it 5-stars and highly recommend it to readers of UF/PNR. Urban Fantasy is always my go-to genre to get me out of a reading funk, and this book helped a lot.
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs is the second book in the Mercy Thompson series. This series is definitely shaping up to be an action packed, highly addictive serial. While I read this book many years ago when it first released, I recently decided to do a series re-read to catch myself up to better enjoy Smoke Bitten. This read was even better the second time around! Patricia Briggs is a gifted story teller that has no problem delivering believable and well developed characters in heart pounding, gut wrenching situations. A great series that will pull you in and make you part of the pack!
I haven’t read a book by Patricia Briggs that I did not like, and this one is no exception.
Blood Bound is the second book in the Mercy Thompson series and builds on the great foundation of Moon Called. Tensions are high, the danger is real, and the sass is splendid. Exactly how I like my urban fantasy.

I have been making my way through the Mercyverse, but I have been going chronologically per the order of my Wifey, so it’s been a while since I’ve been with Mercy and man did it feel good to be back with her. I have thoroughly enjoyed every book and novella in this world, but Mercy is my favorite and she is my girl so it was fun getting back to her.
Blood Bound was such fun and I love that it centered around the vampires in this world. These vampires are so dangerous and pretty evil and that makes them so captivating. I adore Stefan and man he has won me over. Mercy of course gets wrapped up in some vampire drama, but there is nothing our girl can’t handle. She is tough as nails and fierce and a badass and I love her. And after this book I never want to hear anyone tell Mercy she can’t be involved or handle things ever again. And then we have Adam and Sam and man it’s like being stuck between a rock and a hard place. I adore Sam and what he is dealing with is utterly breaking my heart. He has been through so much and he clearly has so much more to work through. He is so sweet and calm and a big puppy dog. But……. My heart truly belongs to Adam and that’s where I feel like Mercy belongs. I LOVE Adam and his cranky pain in the butt self. I love how he puts others before himself and fights tooth and nail for those he cares about. AND HE AND MERCY ARE JUST FIRE. I ship it and I shall not be tamed.
Blood Bound was such a good read and I’m seriously loving every installment in this world. These characters are just so great and I’m so invested in all of them and I can’t wait to move on to the next one.
Mercy Thompson is my new addiction.! This nugget of a book was so excited and fast paced I just didn’t have time to figure out who the guilty party was until BOOM! Even had I figured it out, it wouldn’t have mattered because I just couldn’t put it down. Fantastic read!
Blood Bound is the second book in the Mercy Thompson series and I just loved getting to reenter this amazing world. I was just drawn into this world and I just never want to leave it. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
