I love Becca Blake’s Reign of Blood series! The characters are realistic–dark, flawed, sometimes brilliant, sometimes amazing–and their relationships reflect that. And OMG, the setting. This is what dark fantasy should be. I just finished book 1 and am diving immediately into book 2! I also just realized there’s a novella; I’ll be reading that soon, too.
I CANNOT get over how amazing this book was! I’m not normally into dark fantasy, but this one blew my mind. If you like dark, gritty reads, this will not disappoint.
I don’t know what I loved more – the story or the characters – but the characters were just fantastic, especially the complexity of Nero.
There’s a sort of brooding “unease” in some of the scenes, like you can feel something is off about one of the characters (namely, Nero) even when he’s being “nice” – and that really created a wonderful tension that made the climax of the story even more thrilling.
I’ve already preordered book 2!
Looking forward to reading more from Becca Blake! Blood Bound is the first in her new Reign of Blood trilogy, and it is sure to wow everyone who reads it!

This was my first vampire and elves book. Absolutely loved it and about to start book 2
I recommend this book to everyone who loves fantasy, vampires and elves.
Excellent!!!
Azalea and Miria are best friends from childhood and both were brought to Terra Nocturne. King Nero takes Azalea as his blood servant.
Azalea is the quiet one that accepts where she is. She works in a brothel and does artwork when she has time. Miriam works as a bouncer in a local tavern. She has a quick temper and won’t accept her life. Azalea and Miria are elves that were kidnapped as children and brought to Terra Nocurne, the vampire city underground. Azalea decides to try to work at the Blood Den, a brothel that caters to vampires where they can feed from the vein rather than from blood collected from the populace, but there are rules. When one of the guards breaks the rules and Azalea kills him in self defense, she comes to the attention of the ruler of the city, Nero Cerinis. This is when things get interesting. This book does end on a cliffhanger.
This world is well written. You feel like you are almost walking the streets with Miria. The characters and nicely fleshed out and well drawn. Even the secondary characters that are quickly sketched are still realistic and “there”. The author has set up rules for this world and follows them. I can hardly wait for the next book.

This book caught my attention right from the first few pages… I could stop till I reached the end and then it left me wanting to see how this story continues. I can’t wait for the next book in this series comes out, really looking forward to it… Elves and Vampires in a whole new light, I really liked that it wasn’t overly filled with romance, in fact that is one thing that got my attention to read this book and now I want more 🙂

Becca Blake is a brand new author, and she’s blown it out of the water with this debut! I can’t wait to see the rest of the trilogy release!
Dark fantasy with elves and vampires. A must read for those who liked action packed books!
Amazing start to the series! If you love dark fantasy with adult themes, this book is for you.
This vampire tale is dark and depressing at times, but so interesting. The world it is staged in is different, but at the same time so familiar. I loved the characters and wish to know more about their story.

For a debut novel this story was exceptionally well written! There is something for everyone in this book. There’s drama, intrigue, nail biting suspense, and my favorite some dark humor! You will not regret reading this book one bit

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Blood Bound by Becca Blake is a debut novel and first in a trilogy. While I usually find it difficult to get into dark urban fantasy, I must admit that I found myself flipping like a maniac. The world building is intricate and paints a baleful background for characters that are complex and well developed. The storyline is at time heart rending and definitely dark. With a slight Game of Thrones flavor with a little True Blood mixed in, this story takes you into the belly of the beast.

THIS BOOK WILL BE RELEASED TOMORROW AND I AM SO EXCITED!
Becca Blake is a debut author. I’m already addicted to this series and I can’t wait to read the next one. This is a DARK book with just enough romance to leave you wanting more. What I appreciated was there was more to it than just romance. The plot and characters have teeth, which I love. I can’t wait for book 2!
This is a story about two elven girls, Miria Delien and Azalea Nydira, who are kidnapped as children and held captive in the underground vampire city of Terra Nocturne. Once each month since they were taken to Terra Nocturne over twenty years ago, they have blood taken to feed the vampires. In return they are fed, allowed to take a job, and allowed to walk around the underground city. But both Miria and Azalea longed for their freedom and return to the surface. Each chooses the path they think will offer them the chance of escape. Do they make it? Will even one of them escape?
This book offers sharp realism to those who want the gritty details. I personally did not enjoy the book, but that is not to say that others won’t. There is “dark” and then there is “very dark” and this is not the kind of book I find fun to read. I think it was done well, however, so please read the blurb and other reviews to help you make your own decision.
Wow! Blood Bound was fast paced, action packed, nail biting, rollercoaster of a ride and absolutely incredible! From the first page until the last I was completely enthralled and loved every second of it. This story centers around Miria and Azalea, elves, that are kidnapped and are made to be blood donors to the vampires in the underground city of Terra Nocturne. They fight daily for their survival and to find a way out. This story has vividly detailed scenes, unbelievable and complex characters, it’s wonderfully written and most definitely a must read!

This is the first book I have read by Becca Blake. Elves Azalea and Miria kidnapped at a young age are forced to provide blood for vampires in the underground city of Terra Nocturne. They both in their own ways are doing what they can to escape. Come on the wild breathtaking journey as things don’t always go as hoped. Dark fantasy with fantastic world building. Eagerly awaiting the next two books in the series!
