Great book, I enjoyed it very much. I have already saved the next one on my list.
Chloe is a wolf and her mother and father were murdered. She left the pack she was in Oklahoma and stayed with the pack MacIntire in Dallas. That was where she was introduced to Lachlan who at the time, they met he was the Alpha. He lost his mate who was a witch and has slowly been withering down to nothing.
Chloe takes off to Oklahoma to see if anyone knows about the death of her parents two years old. Lachlan and Calder have a meeting with Kilpatrick pack leader in Dallas. Though the pack’s leader son is anything but cordial during the meeting. Lachlan’s inner wolf tells him something is up and thinks it has something to with Chloe not being around.
Chloe has been in Oklahoma for a little bit when Lachlan shows up. Uncle Darrell invites her to a pack cookout. She may finally be able to get the answers she wants as no one has wanted to talk to her since she arrived. Lachlan is with her as they pretend to be “mates” as a cover to get more information. Thankfully Miss Emily and old family friend starts talking to her at the cookout. Though when Chloe and Lachlan get back to Lachlan’s truck there is a note left on the drivers seat. Both are worried about said note, because the truck was locked.
Will Chloe be able to find out who really killed her parents and why? Or will she be the next to go? Will Chloe be able to contain her feelings for Lachlan without scaring him away? Will Lachlan let go of Belinda and love again?
“Finding one’s true mate over the course of a lifetime was amazing. Surviving their death even more difficult. But to have a second mate, it was a blessing beyond comprehension. It was rare.”
I don’t think I have ever devoured a book so quick and loved every page of it. This was probably the fifth paranormal and I have to say I am officially a fan. Especially if the writing, suspense and romance are like this one. There were several funny parts of it as well. “Shifter or not grease splatter hurts, SOOO TRUE! While I love bacon, I have to agree whole heartily with that saying, “Grease Splatter HURTS”! I don’t think I can look at syrup the same way without thinking about Ian and Chloe on the fining room table. And for heaven sake….if I even remotely tried to eat as much ass them I would be 500lbs plus.
I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone and everyone who thinks the only paranormal out there is Twilight
This story jerks your emotions around like a rollercoaster. You feel for the male protagonist, but also feel empathy for the lead female character. As they find each other, you root for them to prevail as they fight through a lot of challenges.
Blood and Bone
C.C. Wood was new to me and after reading Blood and Bone I had to go back and read her Bitten series.
Her characters are well developed and the story line grabs you and doesn’t let go. Great escape read.
B&B is a second chance at love for Lachlan, who lost his first love during the battle against The Faction. Chloe nurses Lachlan back from grief, discovering he is her soul mate. Realizing that he would not see her in the same way, she leaves him behind to deal with her own past never expecting him follow.
Become engrossed in C.C. Wood’s world. Be prepared to binge read. B&B can be read before the Bitten Series. I did. You will just want to go back and read them all.
Enjoyed the transitions both characters went through to connect.
Did I enjoy this book? Very much so.
Was there any suspense? Very much so.
Did I cry? Yes
Did my heartbreak a little? Yes
Was my heart mended by the end? Definitely
Was the heroin a kickass bitch? Yes!!!
Where the characters wonderful and relatable? Absolutely
Was it steamy?
Did the h/H find their HEA? I only read HEA, so yes
Would I recommend this book? To anyone who enjoys paranormal.
Blood & Bone is the story of wolf shifters Ian Lachlan and Chloe MacArthur. Chloe is enforcer for the pack they both belong to while Lachlan has been grieving for the last two years. Together, they create a bond that ultimately becomes more. This story has as much action and mystery as it does romance. It’s a fast paced and is an emotionally centered book. I truly enjoyed it and look forward to book 2.
Blood & Bone is the first book in the spin-off series of C.C. Wood’s Bitten series, while it can be read as a standalone, I think it might be much more enjoyable if you’ve read the Bitten books. Some of those characters make appearances in the story, and if you’re like me you’ll want to know them too. Trust me, these characters (especially the females) are characters you’ll want to get to know. They’re pretty awesome.
In the Bitten series, we are introduced to Chloe McArthur. She’s a total badass she-wolf that can hold her own in any fight. We also got to meet Lachlan. He was alpha until he lost his mate in a battle against an evil group of supes that tried to enact their plans of world domination. Since then, Chloe has been doing what she can to keep Lachlan from giving up on life. Her take no prisoners attitude comes in handy in bossy this alpha around when it comes to eating and just doing the mudane things to keep him active.
Now that he’s showing signs of improvement, she feels it’s time to get back to some family matters she had to set aside. But when she leaves, Lachlan realizes just how important she is to him and feels it’s his duty to be there for her, like she was for him.
Among the mystery solving and danger they face these two learn more about each other and their relationship evolves into a bond that can’t be broken.
They’re shared chemistry is top notch and C.C. Wood’s storytelling is absolutely stellar. I’m so happy to get to see more of the characters from her Bitten series. She’s officially hooked me on PNR romances; especially after breaking my werewolf romance cherry. She’ll always be remembered as my first and I’m looking forward to much more from this series. I can’t wait!
Overall, this is a great supernatural story! It has longing, action, healing, love, and in the end, a connection. I recommend it!
This had the making of a good story, writing was not bad. That being said I will have to give up the idea that ww stories can be anything but soft porn. Too much sex, too much graphic sex and too many crude references to body parts. I will pass on the rest of the books.
I really enjoyed this book and others in this series!
Great read!!
Finished in one sitting! I can’t tell you when was the last time that happened!! This book was SO GOOD I couldn’t put it down!!
Blood & Bone is a spinoff of C.C. Wood’s “Bitten Series”. Spinoffs can go two ways. Spiraling down down down to wherever lost books go, or spin up up up like a propeller. Well Charlie Tango, …CC Knocked this one out of the park!
Blood & Bone stars two amazing characters from the “Bitten Series”. Ian Lachlan & Chloe MacArthur. You don’t have to have read the “Bitten Series” to enjoy this (though it’s an incredible series and book 1 is free so it’s kind of a no brainer! Go click!!! I’ll leave the links below)
In regular CC fashion, this is a smart and sexy read. One of my favorite things about CC’s books are the women she writes. Always intelligent, strong, and just the right amount of snarky and Chloe is no exception. This ex-pack enforcer is tough and on a mission.
“To save her heart from further pain, she leaves the pack that she’s come to consider her family. Unfortunately, unfinished business leads her back to her childhood home and straight into a deadly game with shifters that will do anything to prevent her from learning the truth. ”
Sexy Lach (Ian Lachlan) has recently had his heart decimated… an ex-pack alpha that follows Chole only to realize that maybe it’s not all about friendship. Their attraction to each other is so heartwarming and beautiful that it made me smile. He’s attentive, sensitive, strong, and domineering when he needs to be. I love when an author writes a strong heroine, then creates such a perfect match for them without taking away from her character. CC Nailed it! Their romance and their impending struggles leap off the pages and make it almost impossible to put this book down.
If para is your thing you really need to read this book!! If Para isn’t typically your thing this could change the way you look at this genre forever. Two strong characters battle to put the past behind them while they wrestle with the possibility of what the future may hold… This book gets five blazing stars for an amazing start to what I’m already calling a must read romance series.
