Love Dante and Erin
Another page turning saga. Part 2 picked up right where part one ended. I devoured this book, just as I did with part 1. We are learning more about Dante and what he went through being held captive. I really feel for Erin, she can’t seem to get anywhere. Anxiously waiting for part 3. Highly recommended! Thank you Helen Hardt for another great book!
Dante & Erin’s Story Is A Paranormal Romance Set In New Orleans. It Is A Quick Read That Will Pull You Into The Mystery Of Who Took Dante Captive & Why. After Escaping Ten Years As A Blood Slave To The Mysterious Queen, He Needs Answers.
Unchained: Blood Bond Volume 1 includes the Blood Bond Saga, Parts 1-3. Each part is a quick read; they are not standalones. The saga is a paranormal romance. It is Dante Gabriel and Erin Hamilton’s story
FROM BLOOD BOND SAGA, PART 1:
Dante Gabriel and his cousin River were like normal teens when they decided to disobey and sneak out to Bourbon Street to attend the Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans ten years ago. The problem was that they weren’t normal teens, and they weren’t mature enough to handle the supernatural activity that pervaded such an event. There is a lot of cosmic energy in the air in New Orleans in general thanks to all the voodoo practitioners, and Mardi Gras really tapped into all that concentrated energy. The boys had been warned by their fathers, identical vampire twins, not to go. But eighteen year old Dante and his seventeen year old cousin chose to go anyway. Dante doesn’t remember what happened that night. He doesn’t know what happened to River. He doesn’t even know how much time has passed. All he knows is that he woke up bound. He has been treated horribly in his captivity, and his inability to fight off his captor shames him. He eventually gave up the fight, accepted his fate. He was kept to serve the Queen as a blood slave. But drinking vampire blood is morally distasteful. That along with the unthinkable abuse he has suffered makes him want to tune it out and forget it all. The problem is that he cannot get the Queen’s voice out of his head.
When Dante one day escapes his bonds, suddenly finding himself unchained and free, he just hopes to be able to find his family. But first, he needs blood. He follows the scent to a blood bank, which is where he first sees Erin.
Erin Hamilton, roughly twenty-seven, had followed her boyfriend Cory to New Orleans, but she decided to stay even after their breakup two years ago. She has made a life for herself there, buying her own home. She works at University Hospital just north of the French Quarter, along with Lucy Cyrus, her best friend. Her brother Jay works at the New Orleans Police Department and was just promoted to detective. Erin had always dreamed of becoming a doctor, but her parents never made much money, and the idea of so much debt had her readjust and choose nursing instead. She has worked as an ER nurse for five years now. The ER can be challenging work that is often a matter of life or death. She donates her own blood regularly for the cause. When she needs to grab some blood from the blood bank for a gunshot wound victim late one night, she isn’t prepared for the bloody mess she finds – nor the blood-covered strange man she finds in the middle of it. What surprises her most is her instinctive need to protect him.
As Dante reconnects with his family, he must come to terms with the decade that he lost in his captivity. His father and uncle have been missing since they went in search of him. He feels guilty for all his family went through because of his foolishness. His grandfather, Bill, is the pillar of their family. At 102, he is the oldest living pure vampire and a source of much-needed answers. But Dante isn’t ready to face his grandfather and to come to terms with his time in captivity. He would rather forget it all for now. And thoughts of Erin don’t help matters much. He cannot seem to forget her, even though he should. He isn’t safe until he makes up for lost time and learns more about vampirism, his ancestry, and how to blend into the human world.
Dante and Erin have instant chemistry in this paranormal romance. Dante must hold back despite how much he wants Erin, and Erin gets conflicting messages from the handsome and mysterious stranger. She begins to have doubts as her self-esteem takes a hit. There are a few surprise entanglements that liven things up and keep you on your toes as you read; it looks like there might be more unveiled in the next book. As Dante tries to work through his feelings and reconnect with family, he must battle the Queen’s voice in his head and pray that he doesn’t fall prey to her again.
FROM BLOOD BOND SAGA, BOOK 2:
Book one had left off with a cliffhanger just after Dante had finally given into his desire for Erin. Something had stopped him, though. Here we learn that Erin had a mysterious bite mark on her inner thigh, something she was completely unaware of. Still, Dante immediately recognizes it for what it is and is consumed with a myriad of feelings. He wants to protect Erin, to claim her, but is also repulsed by the mark. He knows she had certainly been glamoured, an unsuspecting victim. Dante flees from Erin and his uncontrollable desire for her once again, determined to find out who had bitten her and ensure her safety.
But Dante’s life is still too unsettled for him to do much good at this point. He had disappeared from home at age eighteen, but life had gone on for everyone else. His family had evolved since then. River and Emilia had gone to college. They had careers. River’s father had sat down with him and told him all the secrets that Dante’s grandfather Bill still refuses to share. Bill claims Dante isn’t ready to hear it, that it might add to his trauma. Bill seems changed, too. He spends his time researching, and the compassion that Dante so desperately needs doesn’t come from Bill. The world has changed in ten years, too.
Dante is drowning as he desperately tries to take back his life, but in many ways he is still that eighteen year old late bloomer who disappeared from Bourbon Street. One thing is very certain though. He wants Erin. He feels compelled to be with her. Yet he knows it is wrong to have her when she doesn’t know the truth about him. His Grandpa Bill wants Dante to open up about his years in captivity, but Dante only wants to forget. He wants the knowledge owed him, thinking that is the missing key that will give him perspective and help him move forward. Dante struggles with this and with his attraction to Erin. He is convinced they are somehow destined for one another, and frustrated that River and Bill insist that is impossible.
Meanwhile, Erin begins to piece together some odd bits of information she comes across at the hospital. Cynthia North, a gunshot victim who was brought to the ER the same night that Dante raided the blood bank, had disappeared before suddenly being discovered at the hospital a week later. Erin’s brother Jay and his new partner River investigate. Mrs. Moore, a ninety year old patient, swears that Dr. Bonneville must be the daughter of a physician that had helped with her son’s blood disorder decades ago. Erin feels certain that Cynthia North and Mrs. Moore hold critical information, the nature of which eludes her as of yet. Her curiosity gets the better of her as she begins to investigate.
Dante and Erin’s story is a paranormal romance set in New Orleans. It is a quick read that will pull you into the mystery of who took Dante captive and why. The short books in the saga read like a serial drama. After escaping ten years as a blood slave to the mysterious Queen, Dante needs answers. We learn that the vampire population is endangered thanks to a fertility issue and the shortage of female vampires. Despite their many genetic advantages, vampires in this drama don’t live forever and have difficulty reproducing. They are a dying breed. The story is well-written and plot-driven. The plot is fairly simple thus far. The characters are still being introduced here, so much remains to be learned. The story is told in first person. The POV alternates between Dante and Erin, with the epilogue in the Queen’s POV. I rate this book four stars.
I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Holy hell! This saga is fast becoming a favourite, even though we are only in part 2 of the saga, I know it’s going to continue to be AMAZING! I mean, Helen Hardt wrote it, so how could it not? I need to repeat this, as I said in my review for part 1; this is such a breath of fresh air for the PNR genre, well and truly needed in my opinion!
In instalment 2 secrets are revealed, Dante starts to finally open up to his family about the torture he went through while in captivity for so many years. You find out what this blood bond means that’s between Erin and Dante and why it’s got a hold of them so strongly. Strange things begin to happen and even more twists and turns are added to this growing storyline! Although some answers are starting to surface, even more unanswered questions are popping up the deeper you go into the story. Erin is trying to keep her frustration at bay, she wants to give in to the desire toward Dante, let him consume her in every way possible. Will she give in? Will she let him?
Helen is the master of creating a troubled main character and honestly I love it, she’s also the master at keeping you on the edge your seat all the way through a book and this series is no exception. It’s not the typical vampire romance, oh no it’s so much more! It’s full of lust, passion, suspense, thrill, angst, torment, dark twists and turns and a growing love story, she builds up the plot and relationships with the main characters perfectly and keeps you second guessing all things you thought you’d figured out, she pushes boundaries in a magnificent way, and makes sure the story line holds all your attention, I found myself in the last few days after reading this thinking about it and trying to figure out what is to come next! I could sit here and try and guess it, but like Helen does she’s left us on a hell of a cliffhanger like only she can and there is no point trying to figure out what’s up her sleeve next, because she’ll no doubt blow us away with the totally unexpected.
I cannot wait for part 3! Can’t wait to see the relationship between these two main characters grow and for them to finally come together and to read what Helen has in store for us, one thing I do know is that it’s going to be incredible!
Dante is pulled to Erin and he doesn’t understand why. He’s determine to protect her even if it means protecting her from himself. When he finds out why he’s drawn to her, besides the intense chemistry, he’s more determined to protect her. Helen keeps us on the edge of our seat by adding just enough to the mystery surrounding the two of them to keep us coming back for more.

Dante and Erin’s story continues as the pull keeps drawing them closer and closer. Dante starts to finally reveal more about what happen to him during his time in captivity and the woman who took his life from him for 10 years. We see Dante struggle with this and on top of not being able to control himself around Erin. Erin wants Dante but his constant puling away from her at the last minute each time they try to be together makes her question whether she should be with him or not. He wants her but also wants to protect her from himself.
Part 2 is where everything thickens and secrets start to come out. My only complaint is sometimes I just want to slap those two. Erin always says she doesn’t want him in her life yet does the opposite. Dante acts immature when he admits he has no idea how to handle his powers but refuses to believe his loved ones when they try to help him understand. It’s like a teenager asking for advice on something they don’t know about but act like everyone else who does, doesn’t smh. Otherwise, another amazing read!
Blood Bond Saga: Part Two was another great read by Helen Hardt. I absolutely love reading Erin and Dante’s story. There are many times that I want to yell at them or bash my head against the wall at what they are saying or doing. I absolutely loved finding out more about what has happened to both Erin and Dante. This is a must read series that I haven’t been able to put down.
Now matter how many times he walks away Dante is drawn back to Erin. He finally asks for help from his grandfather and begins telling his about his captivity. Strange things ars happen at the hospital where Erin works; patients go missing and then mysteriously reappear, certain types of blood are always out of stock, patients are fine one minute and dead the next. Erin’s frustrations at work only exacerbate her situation with Dante. His consistently inconsistent behavior has her angry and confused. Yet she desparately want him every time he appears.
Wow! Helen Hardt made Part 2 an even crazier roller coaster ride than the 1st one. Love that Dante and Erin are both so drawn to each other and yet they still struggle to connect. Dante is trying so hard to protect Erin from not only himself but whatever else may be out to harm her. The characters are amazing. This is going to be an intense series I think. Can’t wait to read the rest.
Every word Helen gives us in Blood Bond #2 gets us closer to answering questions about Dante’s disappearance and why he suddenly feels drawn to Erin, a woman he randomly met in a time of need. His attraction to Erin is a force he doesn’t know how to deal with. Erin is just as intrigued by Dante and as much as they try to move on from their chance encounter, it abundantly clear that won’t happen.
Each turn of the page gets us closer to the answers we desire. What happened to Dante for all those years and is he still in danger? What does this connection with Erin mean and will it bring her in harm’s way? There is no doubt this series will continue to keep us intrigued and coming back for more. Helen has the perfect formula with mystery, intrigue and sexy times. Rest assured there will be some “oh no she didn’t” moments, as well as “whew, is it hot in here?” This is a bloody journey you don’t want to miss out on!
Erin and Dante can’t stay away from each other. They know it’s some kind of attraction. Dante thinks it’s because she is his fated mate. His grandfather does some digging and finds out why they can’t resist each other. Erin is trying to figure out what is going on with patients disappearing and reappearing. Dante also tells his grandfather some of what happened when he was held captive.
Helen has done an awesome job on this book I couldn’t put it down, but I forced myself to so I could go to work and sleep.
Omg!!! This series is going to be addictive. I absolutely love this author because she always blows my mind. This is the second part of the Blood Bond series. You will need to read this first book or will be a little lost. I started this book right away and I could not stop. I was hooked on these characters so much I read it all in one sitting.
This story starts off right where the last book ends. Erin can’t get Dante off of her mind. She feels something deep for him but he keeps on blowing her off. She is also hearing some crazy stories about vampires. Erin doesn’t believe in the paranormal at all but when one of her patients tells her a story she starts to wonder. Erin knows that Dante is wrong for her but he keeps on coming back to her. She is starts to notice that there is something different about Dante but what?
Dante goes to his family for help. He doesn’t understand why he feels so close to one human, Erin. Dante feels things he can’t explain when he is with her. He is also trying to find out who the female vampire that kept him for so long is.His family is shocked on how much Erin gets under Dante’s skin. Is there some kind of love connection between them or is it even more dangerous than love?
I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, mystery, and some suspense. You will fall in love with these characters all over again. I love that Erin is no damsel. She is a very strong and independent woman. She gives Dante a run for his money. Dante is still a lost soul that is trying to find out why he was captured. He feels very deeply for Erin but he is afraid of what she would do if she find out who he really is. These characters have some intense chemistry that will make your temperature rise. This talented author will have you at the edge of your seat. The ending will make you want even more. I can’t wait to see what will happen next to these unforgettable characters.
Part 2 is just as addictive as the first book! While Dante tries to discover why he was abducted and to explain the desire to always be close to Erin, certain secrets come to light and darker truths are hinted at.
Helen Hardt paints a tangled web of mystery and deceit – fair warning, this book continuously leaves the reader wanting more, but I have a feeling it’s going to be explosive when the inevitable happens!
OMG it just keeps getting better and better I loved it, Erin and Dante are amazing, this series is one that will go down as top in vampire books, cannot wait for book 3 , it’s amazing!! The plot is just amazing I can’t wait to confirm all my theories.
BLOOD BOND SAGA PART 2 By Helen Hardt
I am ready for book 3! Part 2 picked up right at the end of Part 1. Dante is so drawn compulsively to Erin and he doesn’t know what is going on, he keeps holding back. Erin doesn’t understand his hesitation any better than he does. She is on fire for him, but keeps getting left hanging. All stems from his time he spent imprisoned by the Queen. Keep up the great writing Helen and we will keep reading! Book 3, PLEASE!
Blood Bond Saga Part #2 by Helen Hardt continues the story of Dante Gabriel and Erin Hamilton. This starts a 6 part story line for this Blood Bond Saga, so you should read Blood Bond Saga Part 1 first. They are quick reads but ones you just want to grab the next one so fast.
Dante is dealing with the torment he has been through along with trying to understand this connection he feels with Erin. Dante ends up talking to his grandfather some of what has been going on with himself and his thoughts. Erin too is trying to understand what has her so drawn to Dante. There is also underline danger that is coming out more and more.
This series has me so hooked in that I can’t wait for my next ‘fix’! Love it!
First I want to say, I am a Big Big Helen Hardt fan and she has a real knack for cliff hangers. I also have to admit a lot of this is my fault but after reading part 1 I felt totally ripped off. It wasn’t until after finishing part 2 and saying to my son that part 1 and 2 together were still only like half a book, and left me wanting that he asked “Is this like Bolt? Remember you said you wouldn’t be able to read it in pieces and had to wait for the 3 part volume?” It made me look in Amazon and I realized he was right. Blood Saga is a collection of short stories that for me need to be read together. BUT Where was the classic Hardt sex?? Every time things started heating up they ended abruptly. Even Christian Grey only made Ana suffer limited delayed gratification. There is only so much a reader can take enough already.
I know there are a lot of other readers like me that to not like waiting for the continuation, I learned that with Hardt’s Steel Brothers. Many people waited until it was complete before starting so they wouldn’t have to wait. I started shortly before the final book Unraveled was released so I didn’t have long to wait. The same is true for the Blood Saga but each piece is very short, able to be read in a few hours. Thankfully, Hardt decided to release part 2 the same day but why not put them together in one decent paged book instead of 2 tiny ones?
I do like the story and the characters it is both different and interesting but I would have been much happier if I waited for Unchained with parts 1-3 but its not due out until early October.
The ties that bind are irrefutable and cannot be broken. Erin cannot understand two things – why she is so drawn to this mystery man that has entered her life and why he continues to rev her up and leave her high and dry. She should just walk away from this infuriating man but there is something that keeps pulling her to him that cannot be ignored. Dante is incensed when he discovers that someone has hurt this perfect creature that has bewitched him. She doesn’t even release the danger she has and still faces but he is determined to make sure she never is prey again. Learning why she calls to him and what still haunts him from his captivity are paramount to Dante rejoining the world, but digging in to them just may uncover answers he is no prepared for.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book
I am truly amazed at how Helen Hardt can tell a story INCREDIBLE! This was first ever Vampire read so I was a little skeptical going in but, no more. This is a page-turning, keep you attention Book. I actually couldn’t put it down.
Dante has been gone for years – when he returns he is caught in a compromising position by Erin a nurse. He senses her, craves her but he knows he can’t have her.
Erin can’t understand the need and want for Dante a “man” she has just met.
What will the next book hold I for can’t wait to find out?
Most of the time when I see that an author has written many installments of a book, I will give it a pass. Mainly because I’m impatient and I want a HEA without having to wait and read the whole series. There are a few authors and series that are worth it and Ms Hardt’s have lived up to my expectations. I’ve enjoyed Dante and Erin’s journey so far. Even though they keep getting interrupted when things get heated. I like how she flips around the way we have read about vampires and the myths that have been handed down through the years. Makes me wonder what else is coming. I’m looking forward to reading the continuing story of Dante and Erin and learning all of the expected and unexpected surprises to come.
